I bought this as a solution to clean up the clutter of loose drums laying around my practice space and my studio. I had previously been using some shelves mounted to the wall to hold snares and rack toms that weren't being used. Thought of building one, but after sketching some rough drafts and pricing the wood out, it would have been cost a bit more to build this from 2x4. So in the end it really is a good deal considering I got it on sale.

The two end pieces have 4 sets of screw holes. There are two sets per end that are aligned straight through. The other two sets are roughly 30 degrees out of whack, making it impossible to assemble it squarely and level. It should have taken me about a half hour to assemble it but it took 2 hours to manhandle it to a cobbled together state, and wasn't able to get one of the screws to take. I was frustrated enough to make sure that I was going to win rather than box it up and ship it back and not know if I was going to get another poorly drilled unit. Once I finally got to the point of adding my snares, it nestled them securely and resting comfortably.

Comments about Proline Snare Utility Rack:

I woke up one day recently and realized I had 10 snare drums. Seeing this in a Musician's Friend catalog was a godsend! I didn't even know anybody made anything like this, but it is exactly what I needed and I must say, my snares look fantastic lined up - two levels high! The only problem is this one is aleady filled up...

Comments about Proline Snare Utility Rack:

I read all the reviews about the ProLine snare/drum rack with a few claiming that the screw holes didn't line up and that it was difficult to assemble. First this rack took all of 20 minutes to assemble and start holding my snare drums. Second, as for hard to assemble, did you ever consider starting all the screws but leave all of them loose until you have them all started then tighten the up. Third All the holes line up just fine if you've got the two side frames facing the same direction!
In summary this rack is easy to assemble, looks good, holds snare's or tom's, and is very sturdy

Comments about Proline Snare Utility Rack:

I read many of the user comments/reviews about this rack being unstable, hard to assemble, etc. Sorry folks: if you're having a problem putting it together, you're just doing it wrong. Assembled in under 15 minutes, had an assortment of drums arranged neatly within 20. Perfect for organizing your drum space. I'm using it as a holding area for project drums and I couldn't be happier.
Full disclosure: I bought it for half price on President's Weekend sale...and at this price point, it's a no-brainer. But even at a c-note, sure easier/cheaper than trying to build one yourself from PVC or something. If you have a bunch of drums hanging around, do it and unclutter your life.

Comments about Proline Snare Utility Rack:

There aren't enough choices for snare racks on the market, but for the price this one is hard to beat. To build your own out of tubing would cost more for the materials than this one.

This is a great way to safely store drums for quick, convenient changes and won't cost more than the drums themselves. The lower row will not hold most drums 16" or larger, for those interested in storing various sizes.

I own 22 snare drums and live in an apartment! So space is definitely an issue. So I bought 2 of these racks, removed the top caps from one, removed the rubber feet from the other, took 4-24"x 7/8" wood dowel rods, inserted them in the top of one rack and stacked them, inserting the top of the dowel rods into the bottom of the other rack. They stack perfectly this way and doubled the number of snares I could store with the same floor space. It rocks!

This is a great, relatively inexpensive way to organize your drums. Set up was quick and easy. I'm the least handy guy I know, and from opening the box to having this rack completely set up was about 20 minutes. No issues. I currently have 4 snares and an extra 12" tom on the rack, plus some random extra cymbals and drumheads. I am really impressed with how much this helped straighten up my drum room. One negative, snares rattle when I'm playing my kit, which is annoying. Will need to figure out how to muffle them whenever inr coed. Other than that, great purchase!

Comments about Proline Snare Utility Rack:

This comes unassembled. I also want to mention that it comes with no instructions. It consists of 2 complete pre-drilled ends and 8 foam covered bars, plus the bolts and washers, and the box shows it assembled.for reference. I appreciate the tips to leave the bolts "loose" until the last step-do that!.

But even so, on 2 of the tubes, the curved, plastic "joints" at the ends of the tubes were not parallel and would only line up on one side. Typically I wouldn't "rework" an item, but in this case it was an easy fix, and it's likely a replacement would have the same issue. It's super easy but could "void the warranty", but mine would not completely align without these adjustments-

Go ahead and get to where all the bars are in place and very close to 100% tightened. If the 2 ends of a tube don't line up on both ends, allow 1 end to go in place. Pull back the foam on the opposite, mis-aligned end, to expose 2 small screws holding the plastic joint to the tube. Take out the screws (DON't LOSE--they're small). With the screws out, and the joint close to the frame, you can easily spin it to align it with the bar. Then, put the screws back into the same holes with a little pressure and they will hold the plastic joint back to the tube. {Pull the foam back over the screws. THEN, continue to tighten those final bolts and the others in a "round the clock" direction on both ends until they're all tightened.

This is a "one of a kind" product that I'm excited about having. I'm looking forward to having quick access to my snares (and toms). Like most drummers, I used to have to deal with my drums in piles (cased) or on shelves when pulling what to play, and obviously this lends itself to easy access. Assembled Dim's: 32 L X 16.5 W X 31 H.

I got this for half off, which allows for leniency when judging the overall quality and gave me the bravado to fix it, but the assembled rack is sturdy, the foam coverage is complete, and the bars are straight once installed

Great rack that I managed to snag on special. Setup is relatively easy. It comes with no instructions, but it's not rocket science to build. The key is to approach it slow and steady. Don't tighten all the screws until everything is all set up, then slowly go around and bring the screws in. Some are tight, but had no problems building it.

It holds my snares well, and it's nice to have them off the floor in piles.

Comments about Proline Snare Utility Rack:

Strictly to store my collection of snare drums. Not only are they stored neatly and securely, they are prominently displayed as one enters my drum/music room. There is enough space on each shelf to store four snare drums neatly, and with spacing to avoid the rims hitting each other.
