Among the most widely used drumheads in the world.
Remo's popular Pinstripe drumheads are made from 2 plies and internally muffled to dampen both the high overtones and overall resonance. The result is a very focused, low pitched sound with moderate attack and response characteristics-ideal for creating a deeper, fatter, controlled drum sound in a variety of studio and live drumming situations. The coated surface also makes the pinstripe coated drumhead from Remo better suited for brush work.

Back when I first started druming 1995. I was told that Remo Pinstripes were the way to go. I really loved them. However, I wanted to see what everyone else had to offer. I tried out 6 differnt types of Evan heads and a few of Aquarian heads. I have found that Aquarian heads tend to kill ALL the overtone in the drums and actually kill some of the good tones. Its like overkill for drumheads. I liked my Evans, the EC2's were my favorite. But then I decided to come back to the pinstripes just to see what I started out on. WOW!!! Why did I ever even consider other drumheads? They sound great, last forever and look sweet. What more can you ask for? I use these on my 14" snare and my toms (10, 12, 14, 16) From my experience with overtone, I have found the 14" tom does not need a moongel (not sure why but it hardly had any overtone), the 10" and 12" need one and the 16" actually needed two. Which worked fine for me seeing as they come in packs of 4. Trust me, if you know how to tune (if not use a drumdial) and set these puppies up with moongels just as I did. You will never need to shop any further. Go Remo Pinstripes for life!!! I sure know I will.

I don't like these heads. I put the 16" on my floor tom, and it just murdered the sound of my drum. I got it tuned up and all, and it just did not sound good. If you hit it with a little bit of power, it just makes this nasty slapping noise. Just don't like it.

Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
I've tried Evans, I've tried strategically taping heads, and I've tried a number of different Remo heads, but for my Toms, I love the Remo Pinstripe COATED. Yes, Coated makes a difference. Along with the drums looking like they just stepped out of a time machine from the 60s, the coated head gives a much better response to your stick. I really don't understand how there are other drumhead companies out there, if Remo doesn't have a head to fit the sound you want out of your drums, I don't think anybody else can. Read the descriptions, see what your favorite drummers use...there's a reason Remo is written on practically every drum you ever come across...they work.
Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
The title of this article says it all. As a 30 year semi pro player/recorder, I find these the best choice for most players and listeners. I realize that a drum purist will insist on nothing but coated ambassadors all the way around, but those heads do need constant and I do mean constant tuning. The coated pins give you the best of both worlds with added durability a slightly deeper warmer sound and less overtones. I do however use a coated ambassador only on the snare, and the bass drum is up to the individual on preference.

Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
I fell in love with this head as soon as I first hit it. It has all the warmth and depth of a coated head but the ring helps with some of the higher overtones which leaves a wide drum

I put these on because I need to use brushes on my toms.
Installed a 10 & 13 one my breakbeats kit.
Gave a thick dark tone that open or partly muted is suitable for jazz fusion.
A little moongel extra and you have a solid rock tone.
Am extremely pleased and the price was very good also

Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
Firstly: when you shop bass drum heads, don't look under "bass drum heads." You will save a good amount of money by looking at "drum heads." Reason being, The two lists are not the same. I own an 18" bass drum, and of course, most of the time, they don't get the boom you're looking for. After some research i decided to try using a batter head on resonnance side. I followed the many good reviews on this Remo pinstripe. My batter head is also a Remo pinstripe. After replacing my head with this new one, the sound is much darker and deeper. I decided to use the coated head for easthetic reasons. Just what i was looking for. A good price with good results!

Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
Put these on this morning for recording next week, tuned up right away, perfect resonance too. I recommend these heads to anyone who wants a classic and natural sound out of their drums.
Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
I used this drumhead on a 6-1/2 x 14 Ludwig snare and got very good results. The drum was a lowly (but decent) Accent series, and the coated Pinstripe really made it sing with a fat, punchy sound. I'm a fairly heavy player, and it held up nicely. I recently aquired a Dixon Artisan Black Nickel snare, and I plan to put one of these on it, hopefully paired with a Black Suede snare side.

Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
I put this head on a lowly(?) Ludwig Accent snare. It tuned up nicely, and when I listened to a live recording I was amazed! Solid pop, full tone, and not too much ring.
Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
I've been using this drumhead for about 4 or 5 years without having to replace it. It has never broken on me, and I am a hard hitter. The coating has long since worn a big gap in the middle but I don't really play with brushes so it's okay. Plus now I have it signed by Jake Loewentsein and all the guys in Dinosaur Jr so I'm just gonna get a new one :) My kit is cheap and I have a stock metal tuna can for a snare drum. This head transformed it into a cannon. Very warm tone, powerful punch, very tunable and versatile sound capabilities. Spicy rimshots, excellent control. I'm not the best drummer but I can tell this is a Great Head. If you want you can hear this head being used in song samples on my site since MF doesn't have sound samples. My only gripe is that Remo seems to change the names of their heads a lot so I don't know exactly what the new version of my head is now. This one's the closest match. Also, never buy a Remo Clear Pinstripe bassdrum head batter. Worst bassdrum sounds ever. Like hitting a bit fat block of wood. Go with Evans EQ's for a great rock and metal sound!
Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
I tried all types of heads and these blow the rest out of the water. they have a very clear tone and just the right amount of sustain.
Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
Best heads I've ever used. Awesome sound and tone. Havent used it as a snare head so I don't know what its like for that but they are very good tom heads.
Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
I got these drums used, and I had used Pinstripe heads, so they sounded horrible, but since my friend gave me these for my birthday I didn't reject him and used them, I tuned them perfectly and got the best sound out of them, I highly recommend them
Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
These are great heads. When tuned right you get a deep, warm tone that sounds pretty dang good. They are really durable.I'm not a real hard hitter but they could easily withstand hard hits.I did have to put moongel tabs on mine to reduce minor ringing but that not really that big of deal. I would recommend these heads to any drummer. These heads are worth the money so try them out.
Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
I don't like these heads. I put the 16" on my floor tom, and it just murdered the sound of my drum. I got it tuned up and all, and it just did not sound good. If you hit it with a little bit of power, it just makes this nasty slapping noise. Just don't like it.
Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
I bought clear ones for my toms, and by accident got a coated pinstripe for one of my floor times. I like the sound much better than the clear. They tune easily. I have a crappy sound percussion kit, and after putting these heads on, it sounds incredible. Plus they look cool on my black set. BUY THESE HEADS!
Comments about Remo Pinstripe Coated Drumhead:
My favorite drum head brand is Remo. Every time I put on a Remo head, my favorite snare sound is produced. I believe that Remo and Ludwig are the perfect match.
