Like its big brother, this little savage combines a big, open sound with just a subtle hint of glass in a direct replacement humbucker for single-coil guitars. It's a pickup that can scream and provide rich harmonics, but cleans up when backed off. The tone is big and percussive without being too harsh.

If you're thinking about buying this pickup,it's because you want more out of your strat, without going all "hot rails" and losing the strat sound completely when your in the second "quack" position on the pickup switch. This is the one.You can control this pickup beautifully with the volume control-roll it back and you can still get a "semi traditional" strat tone.Crank the volume and hit your overdrive pedal/channel and your in rock heaven. No it's not cheap, but quality like this doesn't come cheap. If you love your strat, and you think it's worth this investment-go for it.

I just purchased the Lil Screamin Demon pickup and had it installed in the bridge position of a US Strat. I must say, I am very disappointed. I have some cheaper Lace pickups in the other positions that are almost as loud and have better harmonics. I really like Seymour Duncan pickups but I am not too thrilled with this purchase. This pickup does not scream in my opinion. It might be a pretty good Blues pickup, though. The worst part is, Musician's Friend won't exchange a pickup that has been installed. I would really like to return it for a Hot Rails pickup. Oh well.

Really Good

By Anonymous

Comments about Seymour Duncan Lil Screamin' Demon Pickup:

My squier obey propaganda guitar came with a duncan designed humbucker and two low quality single coils. The guitar was great on the bridge pickup, but on the neck it sounded horrible, so i bought this. It sounds ok at low volumes, but if you crank up the volume and turm up the treble it will get heavy with lots of distortion an sustain and harmonics. It made my guitar 10 times better!

Comments about Seymour Duncan Lil Screamin' Demon Pickup:

I put this in my Mexican Strat with a push/pull pot. So, I'm not losing that clear single coil sound, but adding the power of a humbucker. Great tone all around!

All right, the guy who wrote the review before me must be retarded or the wiring is all wrong or something. This pickup most certainly does scream! Great clarity. Warm and biting sound at the same time. Handles gain with aplomb. BTW--SD allows exchanges of their pups if you're not happy with the sound of the one you've got...hope you saved your receipt...

    Make your Strat growl....

    By Pilgrim3970

Comments about Seymour Duncan Lil Screamin' Demon Pickup:

My Strat originally came with three Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro single coils. Though I like these in the neck and middle positions, the bridge position was a little to twangy for my tastes (a good sounding pickup, just not my preference).So... I went looking for a bridge pickup with a little more "umph" and not wanting to hack up my Koa Strat, settled on the Lil Screamin Demon. Set aside images of 80s rock and George Lynch, this is a versitile pickup. As advertised, it has a balanced tone across all 6 strings and great clarity, even under high gain. The overall characteristics of this pickup will provide you with a pleasing humbucker sound well suited for styles ranging classic rock to metal. It is a little pricey in comparison with Seymour Duncan's similar models but it was money well spent. I am completely pleased with this pick up and will not hesitate to install it again when I get around to buying an additional Strat.

    Superb

Comments about Seymour Duncan Lil Screamin' Demon Pickup:

I have had it in my Fender Strat 40th anniversary model for 16 years. Makes my guitar versatile. Excellent for all kinds of sounds, but especially good with a cranked vintage Marshall. Superb warm distortion with edge.
    Got the basics right.
    Never had problems.
Cost a bit, but worth it.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Lil Screamin' Demon Pickup:

The Screamin' Demon is certainly at the top of the totem pole when it comes to distortion. There isn't really a clean tone to this pickup, however. (I did not buy it for the clean tone, I left that for my single-coils). If you want a pickup that screams with a hint of glass, this is the one.

great pickup for strat players into metal & grunge

Comments about Seymour Duncan Lil Screamin' Demon Pickup:

I've had this in my strat for about a decade now. Tried out plenty of other "hot" single-coil sized pickups before deciding on this one. The clean tone blows...this is definitely NOT for playing jazz or clean rhythm chords...but with distortion, this pickup is a monster. tons of harmonics. screams like there's no tomorrow. individual notes still ring through though...not muddy at all. I would definitely recommend this pickup for anyone who wants a hot humbucker but doesn't feel like routing out their guitar.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Lil Screamin' Demon Pickup:

I used it to bring an old Kramer back to original SSH but with a slight Mod. I already had the Screaming Demon Full bridge. Wanted to put it in neck for coil splitting with a push pull. It does the job. Sounds like a Fender strat with a clean tone and with a nice drive it as a nice response for any type of music. In full hum it like it's sister it gets the job done a nice well rounded pick up.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Lil Screamin' Demon Pickup:

Man, I got this pickup on the advice from a friend and thank god I listened. I needed something to beef-up the sound on my mexican strat. I threw this in the bridge and it is now my favorite guitar. This baby sounds like a thousand bucks. I don't know how it sounds in other guitars but if you want to get rid of the hum and make your Mexican Strat scream, then this is the pickup for you.

Comments about Seymour Duncan Lil Screamin' Demon Pickup:

This is a great pickup for any strat owners who want to give their guitar a better tone. I bought a standard squier strat and wanted to put in a humbucker in order to give it a better crunch and this is the perfect pickup. I have 1 near the bridge and whenever I play with distortion it's the only pickup i switch back to. Another amazing thing about this pickup is it gives very little feedback. I definitely recommend it for anyone with a tight budget who wants a great sounding guitar.

I had it tucked into my King V model - obviously at the bridge - and at the neck I set a... well, the combination doesn't really matter, I hardly ever switch it. A truly killer tone - though as usual, make sure the replacement job is done neatly. Play LOUD and let your babe SCREAM!

      The Best Bridge Pick-Up Ever

      By Anonymous

Comments about Seymour Duncan Lil Screamin' Demon Pickup:

I had a mexican strat and wanted to kick the bridge position up. I slapped this pick-up in and I instantly became a loyal member of Seymour Duncan. This pick-up is for hard rock and metal. The clean channel tone is Ok, but I strongly recommend this pick-up for metal/rock.

I just got put the Screamin Demon in my U.S. Strat and its definitely change the sound. I use a Roland bc30. The best thing: I punch the output way up on my guitar and I get no hum. perfect for metal style playing. It has a bright clean sound and a good sustain when soloing.
