A wood-backed ukulele hanger that holds your ukulele while not touching the tuners.
This universal ukulele hanger from String Swing attaches to the wall and holds your ukulele in such a way that it does not rest on the tuners. The wooden block backing is made of real hardwood and the rubber-coated arm protects your ukulele's finish as it holds the instrument sturdily in place.

We wanted to hang our family's instruments in our living space. We don't have a dedicated studio, so I wanted a simple look, not a gearhead look. This fit the bill, even though it doesn't have a locking mechanism or strap. We had to hang a mandolin, a guitar and a ukelele with hangers that all look about the same. This model is perfect for uke and mandolin, and the same company makes a guitar hanger that looks the same. So that's great.
But the wall anchors it comes with are terrible. They're the screw-in type, where you engage it with a phillips head screwdriver. Even though I drilled pilot holes and was very careful when trying to screw them in, the interior where you engage the screwdriver stripped out completely before the anchors were all the way into the wall. It happened every time, and I had to use anchors that were left over from other projects to hang these. There are higher quality plastic anchors of the same type available, so I wish Swing Strings would use them. Or, they could include more common spreading plastic anchors. Ukes and mandolins aren't heavy enough to require anything heavy duty. It just has to work.

I would have given this 4 stars if the hanger hook threads were compatible with the same companies Guitar hanger product that looks nearly identical in design and finish. It would be nice to be able to simply change out the threaded hangers on the wood base to alter instrument placement. Unfortunately designers chose different threads for each hanger, so to trade locations, you must remove the entire base from the wall. Don't get me wrong, it's a great product. It would just have been nice to have a consistent deign theme in their line of instrument hangers to make altering placement a bit easier.

Comments about String Swing Home and Studio Ukulele Hanger:
I love these things. I have a few of them and I find that I play a LOT more often when my ukulele is so easy to grab. They work exactly as they should and I highly recommend them. If you have an expensive ukulele though, be sure to invest in a hygrometer and, if needed, a humidifier if you don't plan on keeping you uke in it's case.

I now have 11 ukes. Each uke has its own holder/hanger. It's easy to install. Other sites offer this same holder/hanger, but at a higher price--and with the nerve to charge you shipping! Stick with Musician's Friend!

Comments about String Swing Home and Studio Ukulele Hanger:
This was for my wifes Mitchel uke, It looks nice but the hanger is so angled towards the ceiling that the uke is angled away from the wall about six inches, it just wont wont hang straight down, it looked like a joke. The fix was using a stuffed Dumbo doll stuffed behind the tuners, that pushes the top so the bottom is now flush with the wall. Who knows, maybe the hanger is perfect but the Mitchell has an odd shape where is sits on the hanger. Anyway it looks very funny and cool with Dumbo on top.
