Comments about Acoustic BN112 400W 1x12 Compact Bass Speaker Cabinet:

Acoustic has generally delivered equipment of great value but not always of the highest quality. This new cabinet is an exception. It delivers both superb tone and value. I have owned many boutique cabinets: Euphonic Audio, Bergantino, Accugroove and more mass produced equipment: Markbass, Ampeg... this cab stands with the very best I have ever owned. It's light, super powerful, well designed. More importantly the BN112 delivers a great tone. It's transparent and very reactive to EQ, what you put in is what you get out. It's capable of a clear aggressive modern slap tone or a vintage warm Motown kind of sound. Best of all, it's easy to find in a Guitar Center store and test/audition. It does not have a fancy brand but it delivers on all accounts. At 30lbs it's light and the top handle makes this cab easy to transport. The side handles are probably redundant but they are nice to have. It pairs nicely with both D class amps and tube amps. Neo speakers have the reputation of being aggressive but this is not the case here. The tweeter sounds great too and the crossover is well designed. In my tests this cabinet sounded as good or better then cabinets costing twice as much and it offered as much power!

Comments about Acoustic BN112 400W 1x12 Compact Bass Speaker Cabinet:

I don't have a lot of room for gear. This thing is small, clear, and very loud. I use a Bugera BV1001T 500 watt bass amp with it and sounds great even at low volumes. If I were gigging, I'd be tempted to get two of these to make a good micro stack. Likely would be loud enough for band practice and small venues. I've tried other 2x10 micro stacks: the nicer of the two Ampeg model's and I like this more. 12 inch speaker for bass seems perfect for me. More depth than a 10 and more clarity than a 15.

Comments about Acoustic BN112 400W 1x12 Compact Bass Speaker Cabinet:

I bought this cabinet because I was just plain tired of lugging my old clunky gear. I was impressed with how light weight these cabinets are. The handles are well positioned to lift and carry. The sound with my bass head is warm, distinct, and punchy. These cabinets have there own sound that not like some of the other brands available and this is not a bad thing. I use one 12 cabinet for small to medium sized gigs and stack two for large venues. The are very capable of filling a room with sound.

I ended up buying two of these. One alone sounds good, but oh my-two of these really pumps out the bass. I have two different 500 watt bass amps that sound great through this mini stack I created. These are made well, are lightweight, and sound great. I've read some reviews stating that the tweeter don't work. Both of mine work fine and hope they stay that way because I do like the way it sounds with at least of them with the tweeter on. Glad they started making these out of plywood instead of MDF. Lighter weight and sounds better.

Comments about Acoustic BN112 400W 1x12 Compact Bass Speaker Cabinet:

The Acoustic BN112 is manufactured by Hzsamko in China for Musician's Friend and Guitar Center and the piezo horn doesn't work. The sound is low-leaning; strong low-end, little mids, and not much highs / presence. It sounds scooped without highs. You can adjust your EQ to bring it closer to 'flat' by adding mid-range frequencies, and a trace of presence can be dialed up by cranking your highs, but without a functioning horn, the cabinet is unable to deliver true presence. The piezo horn is loaded into the top left front corner, and in four different units, the horn didn't work regardless of the defeat button position, (in-on / out-off). Still, the Acoustic BN112 is light and portable, and it has a unique sound with plenty of punch for its small size. When I play with the piezo horn button depressed (in), I can hear an occasional sound that is like my string touching a fret, almost sounds like light interference, and I think that's the piezo horn trying to do something, so I make sure to always have the defeat button in the up position (bypassed) and then I can't hear that subtle interference sound. I think the BN112 is a very good value, and I think I would have selected it even without a horn.

                      Service and delivery comments:

The agents that handled my purchase and subsequent exchanges are very good, very patient and exhibit great customer service. They even put in a note to have the exchange BN112 double boxed, so that was great. Regardless, each cab arrived safely with a horn that did not function. I'm a little surprised that obtaining a BN112 with a working horn was not possible.

Comments about Acoustic BN112 400W 1x12 Compact Bass Speaker Cabinet:

The price point is remarkable, and I truly appreciate that; literally 3x less expensive than other 12" bass speaker cabs. The sound is low-end leaning, meaning it's not as flat as some cabs that offer a little more midrange balance. The piezo horn can be defeated (on/off button), but the horn did not work in the first BN112 that I received and Musician's Friend exchanged it happily. I'm on my third exchange - hoping to get a BN112 with a working horn. I demo'd one at Guitar Center and the horn worked fine, so I'm looking forward to getting one that works soon.

I bought this to use in my studio for rehearsals. Paired it with an old Crate 100 watt head that had a built in DI. Worked great for that, but was so impressedin rehearsals with the tone and punch that we decided to put the larger Acoustic 450 in the studio and use this for gigs! Our FOH has great subs and this is plenty for on stage, especially since we switched ti IE Ms. Fine for small to medium venues. I'll pair it with the 450 for larger settings. Best part, easily lift it with one hand thanks to well placed top handle.
