I play banjo/ mandolin/ fiddle, all of which have pickups to play with others and balance! I am stunned at how this amp brings out the character in my instruments! The notes are fat, whole and have much more sustain, they compliment the singing and don't get lost when I play up the neck or in higher positions.

Average amp for average price.

This amp works alright for a practice amp but is underpowered for most live applications. Not good for loud rock music but would probably be excellent for jazz or lower volume genres.

This amp works alright for a practice amp but is underpowered for most live applications. Not good for loud rock music but would probably be excellent for jazz or lower volume genres.

Cranked it all the way up and it struggled to keep up with the guitars and drums.

We play alternative rock so we crank up the volume a decent amount.

Tone wise it sounds great. Volume/headroom is the only issue but those are expected issues with a low wattage, lower priced solid state amp such as this.

SVT grit in a combo

Comments about Ampeg BA115V2 1x15 Bass Combo Amplifier:

For years running a BA-115 for rehearsals and small gigs. Love the tone. Now it weighs 62 lbs. and is a bear to pack for this grandpa. Ahead of my son's birthday he said he playing bass in a band and needed an amp. I ordered the V2. 17 lbs. lighter, 50 more W, send/return, more. I expected the BA-115V1 sound, and more of it. This fully redesigned amp has a fully redesigned character. It does an excellent SVT grit, even w/o the Scrambler, yet after 10 hours I couldn't get the clean round sound of the original. My son has a new BA-115V2.

Comments about Ampeg BA115V2 1x15 Bass Combo Amplifier:

Don't plug into the "Input" buy a SansAmp Bass Driver DI & plug into the return of the Ampeg's effects loop. This will completely bypass the Ampeg preamp, so you can get a good sound. Which likely means Ampeg's SCR-DI sounds bad too.

Comments about BA115V2 1x15 Bass Combo Amplifier:

Great for what I bought it for, which is to practice and use in medium church size venues. This is the first amp I owned that has a tweeter for high frequencies, and I'm hooked. I don't really use the amp to shape my tone (EQ knobs are usually @ 12 o'clock), I use a Zoom B3 for that purpose. The amp is nice, clean and loud, and the 60 degree angle back is an incredibly useful feature.

Comments about Ampeg BA115V2 1x15 Bass Combo Amplifier:

Purchased for use with a small church praise band. Direct output was a requirement. Slightly overpowered for the sanctuary, but has excellent tone one would expect from Ampeg, and the extra power will come in handy for outdoor worship and picnics. Very versatile.

The -15db switch limits your volume greatly but comes in handy if you need to keep it down. I run my active bass in with the switch off, sounds better, good volume
