Overview

Legendary Ashdown tone, built to go anywhere.

Combining 800W of bass power with a lightweight 5.5-lb. design, the Ashdown Rootmaster RM-800 EVO III packs extensive analog tone shaping and flexible connectivity into a compact bass amp head. A 5-band EQ, Ashdown's Sub-Harmonic Generator, onboard compression and variable Valve Emulated Drive provide multiple ways to shape the bass signal, while the Analog Cab Sim DI adds configurable cabinet emulation to the direct output. Dual Neutrik speakON/jack speaker outputs support compatible cabinets down to a 4-ohm minimum load, with an effects loop, headphone output and line input providing additional routing options. With 115–230V operation and a highly portable format, the Rootmaster RM-800 EVO III is equipped for rehearsal, recording and live performance.

5-Band EQ, Sub-Harmonics, Compression and Drive

The Rootmaster RM-800 EVO III provides extensive analog tone shaping through a 5-band EQ and dedicated Shape control. Ashdown's Sub-Harmonic Generator adds adjustable low-octave content, while onboard compression provides control over playing dynamics. Variable Valve Emulated Drive adds adjustable overdrive, providing another way to alter the character of the bass signal. Together, these controls give players multiple options for shaping the amplifier around different instruments, playing styles and musical settings.

Analog Cab Sim DI With Configurable Cabinet Voicing

The Rootmaster RM-800 EVO III features an Analog Cab Sim DI with multiple options for configuring the direct signal. Players can select between a standard balanced DI and cabinet-emulated output, then adjust the simulation with ported or sealed cabinet characteristics, 10" or 15" speaker voicings and optional horn simulation. These controls provide additional flexibility when sending the amplifier's direct signal to a PA, mixing console or recording system without requiring external cabinet-simulation hardware.

Flexible Connectivity in a Lightweight Design

Despite weighing just 5.5 lb., the Rootmaster RM-800 EVO III delivers 800W into compatible speaker configurations through dual Neutrik speakON/jack outputs, with support for loads down to 4 ohms. An effects loop accommodates external pedals and processors, while the balanced DI provides a direct output for live and recording systems. A headphone output supports silent practice, and the line input accommodates a compatible external audio source. Switchable 115–230V operation supports use with different mains-voltage requirements.

Serviceable Design Backed by a Five-Year Warranty

The Rootmaster RM-800 EVO III is designed for component-level serviceability, allowing individual components to be serviced rather than requiring replacement of the complete amplifier. This approach can help extend the usable life of the product when maintenance or repair is required. Ashdown also backs the amplifier with a five-year warranty for registered original owners, adding long-term support to the Rootmaster RM-800 EVO III's 800W platform.
