Clear acoustic tone with flexible two-channel control.
Designed for singer-guitarists and acoustic performers who need clear, flexible sound in a compact format, the Ashdown Woodsman Classic combines 40W of power with dedicated instrument and microphone paths in an elegantly styled acoustic combo. An 8" Ashdown custom driver provides the speaker platform for acoustic instruments and vocals, while separate Gain, Bass and Treble controls let guitar and microphone signals be shaped independently. The instrument channel adds a variable notch filter with Frequency and Depth controls for managing troublesome resonances and feedback, complemented by High and Low inputs for different signal levels. Assignable reverb can add ambience to the instrument alone or both channels, while an AUX input and balanced XLR DI output expand the Woodsman Classic for practice, performance and connection to larger sound systems.
8" Custom Driver for Clear Acoustic Response
The Woodsman Classic delivers 40W through an 8" Ashdown custom driver, providing a clear, responsive platform for acoustic instruments and vocals in a compact combo format. Designed for acoustic amplification, the Woodsman emphasizes articulation and detail to reproduce the character of the connected instrument and microphone source. Its compact cabinet measures just 13.78" wide and weighs 18.8 lb., making the amp easy to position in rehearsal spaces, home studios and intimate performance environments.
Independent Channel EQ and Notch Filtering for Precise Control
Dedicated instrument and microphone signal paths let the Woodsman Classic balance two sources without forcing them through the same tone settings. The instrument channel provides Gain, Bass and Treble controls alongside High and Low 1/4" inputs, while the microphone channel pairs its XLR/1/4" combo input with independent Gain, Bass and Treble controls for shaping a vocal or second source separately. For acoustic instruments prone to resonant feedback, dedicated Notch Frequency and Depth controls let players target a troublesome frequency and adjust the amount of filtering applied, helping control feedback while minimizing unnecessary changes to the rest of the instrument's tone.
Assignable Reverb and XLR DI for Flexible Acoustic Performance
Built-in reverb provides an immediate way to add ambience, with a dedicated assignment switch letting the effect apply to the instrument channel alone or to both instrument and microphone signals. A global Volume control provides straightforward command over the overall output, while the AUX input accommodates backing tracks and other compatible audio sources. For larger performances or recording setups, the balanced XLR DI output provides a direct connection to a PA system, mixer or audio interface. Together, its two-source architecture, feedback control and practical connectivity make the Ashdown Woodsman Classic a versatile self-contained amplifier for solo performers, acoustic rehearsals and intimate live sets.
