OVERVIEW

Get total control over your tone and put the brakes on annoying feedback, no matter what the performance situation.

Finding it hard to get the perfect sound from your guitar? Maybe your guitar gets lost in the mix? Do you have major feedback issues with your acoustic? The problem's not your guitar-you need an equalizer! You can instantly improve the sound of your guitar with a little help from the EQ700.

Most performers don't have a clue about what good equalization can do for their sound. Maybe you've heard the old maxim, "Make a sine-wave to get really good sound," or "Make a smiley-face, that always works." Sadly, this qualifies as advice from the uninformed. Just as every room is unique, so is every musical instrument. Even guitars made by the same manufacturer, using the same materials, on the same day can vary a great deal.

People provide a good example of this principal-although we are all similar, we don't all wear the same size shoes, or even have the same color eyes. There is no one "perfect" equalization curve that fits every scenario; equalization is dynamic.

Most acoustic and electric guitar energy lies between 100 Hz and 6.4 kHz. Even slight changes in this range can cause a tremendous variation in overall energy and impact, as the human ear is especially sensitive to this range.

Boosting frequencies around 200 Hz - 400 Hz often provides warmth and body, while boosting frequencies in the 3.2 kHz - 6.4 kHz range adds clarity to clean guitar signals. Depending on the amount of distortion, this same range can ruin the sound of an overdriven electric guitar by adding harsh harmonics.

One of the most common mistakes is adding too much bass to acoustic guitars. If the low frequencies are boosted excessively, acoustics can easily get lost in the overall mix. Most acoustic guitars are also prone to feedback in the 200 Hz - 400 Hz range.

A general rule of thumb-the best results are often achieved by finding and reducing the frequency bands that are offending, and then turning up the overall volume, rather than boosting one specific band.

How the specific frequency bands of the EQ700 can shape your sound:
100 Hz (low bass)
Boost: To add fullness to guitars, especially clean electrics
Cut: To reduce muddy or boomy tone and control acoustic guitar feedback
200 Hz (soft bass)
Boost: To increase the warmth of all guitars and provide a slightly harder sound
Cut: To increase clarity and reduce feedback in acoustic guitars
400 Hz (hard bass)
Boost: To add definition to rhythm parts
Cut: To reduce feedback in acoustic guitars (This is a major feedback zone for piezo-equipped flattops)
800 Hz
Boost: To add an aggressive edge to the overall sound
Cut: For reducing the nasal or horn-like content, often referred to as the "cheap guitar" syndrome
1.6 kHz
Boost: To make the guitar cut through the mix. Creates a more distinctive plucked tone
Cut: To eliminate dullness and competition with vocals (vocal fundamentals occupy the range from about 1.0 kHz - 2.5 kHz)
3.2 kHz
Boost: To add significant attack to all guitars. Creates an even more distinctive plucked tone
Cut: To eliminate harshness
6.4 kHz
Boost: To add edge and increase brightness to all guitars
Cut: To soften thin-sounding guitars and remove string squeak

This pedal came to me as a gift a couple years back, and haven't used it up until about a month ago. I play a Yamaha FX325, given to me by the same person, and it's not the best guitar. The electronics didn't come out so hot, and there wasn't much of an EQ control on the preamp. I decided to use the pedal at one of my gigs, just to test it out. I was really surprised with the performance. It came out beautifully, I added whatever I wanted. Then as I got more gigs, I started fooling around with it a little bit more and finally got the sound that I wanted. The only con I can think of is that it's made of plastic material. Otherwise, awesome EQ Pedal!

You can get a good sound out of this, but you have to work around a lot of hiss and noise coming through the amp whether it's up front or in the loop. Despite the great price I returned it, found a used DOD eq pedal that works much better and is much quieter. If you only play with distortion or gain you probably won't notice the hiss but it's clearly there on any clean sounds.

Comments about Behringer EQ700 Graphic Equalizer 7-Band EQ Pedal:

I've been playing guitar for several decades, mostly acoustic. I purchased this several weeks ago to add tone shaping through the effects loop of an Orange Micro Dark at home. The equalizer has been great for this application. The 7 sliders provide a near infinite amount of adjustment, allowing you to experiment and fine tune your tone. In addition, it is extremely quiet. The pedal feels heavy enough, but is made of (seemingly tough) plastic. The sliders are effective but I'm not convinced of their ruggedness through live gigs. This is my first Behringer product so have no first hand experience with long term reliability. I am very happy with this equalizer and for the price wonder why I hadn't added it long ago - it really is much more effective than few tone control knobs.

Comments about Behringer EQ700 Graphic Equalizer 7-Band EQ Pedal:

This is a great pedal for the price. I did not want to spend a lot since I am using this as an experiment to tweak the sound of a Randall amp that I just got. Have had other cheap eq's in the past & they seem to hiss or lose tone quality. The BEHRINGER EQ700 GRAPH EQ PEDAL is an awesome bang for the buck. It does what it is supposed to, no noise or tone loss & the price is right.

Comments about Behringer EQ700 Graphic Equalizer 7-Band EQ Pedal:

Got this pedal as a gift on Christmas 2017. Have it in my pedal chain. Tried different spots in the chain, and have found it is best at the end of your noisy pedals (Distortion, Drive, Over Drive etc...) AND in a loop only (does not go well in front of the amp...have to loop this one)...AND (as said) last in the chain of effects, yet in front of a noise gate (I use Electro Harmonix The Silencer). If equalized too high on the slider, the pedal has potential of getting noisy and the highs get way too sharp and piercing. If you're trying to use this EQ as a Booster, you might like the high settings...if you're trying to use this thing as an EQ to shape the sounds of different frequencies (as it's meant for) there is definitely a "sweet spot" setting for each of the 7 frequency sliders that you're gonna have to find, set, and forget, based on the equipment you're using and the sound you desire.
This EQ pedal can definitely be dialed in and do it's job, and do it well...but be patient and take the time to find it. Absolutely worth the price.
The build is fine (an EQ is NEVER meant to be "stomped" on), and the hardened plastic does not worry me in the least...Behringer is obviously more than happy to pass the savings of material costs on to 'us' the buyer, and I appreciate that. Once dialed in, this thing is as good as any EQ out there, so why pay more for metal and paint?

Thought I would try an affordable EQ to see if it would help with my tone tweaking and it did what I needed, took off some of the high end shrillness and bottom end flubber. HH Strat through DRRI with distortion. With my set up this EQ works best in front of the dirt, otherwise it actually killed some of the distortion I wanted.

A basic guitar EQ that does what it is supposed to do without adding noise. The price can't be beat. My only suggestion is to to get some superglue and glue the caps on top of the EQ sliders as soon as you get this. They come off easily and you will hate crawling around on the floor in a dark club looking for the little tops. They are small and hard to see when they come off.

Comments about Behringer EQ700 Graphic Equalizer 7-Band EQ Pedal:

I use 2 of these for playing blues and rock. I have a small board I keep on top of the amp for effects that I constantly need like reverb and EQ. On my floor board I use this as a signal boost which fattens the signal thru my tube amp when I want to do a clean solo. I've seen other reviews that complain about hum but I have yet to experience this. Good pedal, well built, good price. What else can you ask for?

Great inexpensive pedal to add to your pedal board. Great to pair with any distortion pedal.

Works fine to tweak the sound of my guitars, especially to compensate for the peaks and lows of different amps. I have been very happy with all the Behringers pedals I own. Since I don't stomp on my stomp boxes, their plastic boxes are fine. They get the job done at a great price.
