OVERVIEW

The world's smallest full-featured guitar amp.

The C Tech V2 Pocket Rockit Headphone Amplifier captures the tonal heritage of 50 years of guitar amp design. It combines analog and digital signal processing to reproduce classic tube amp tones. A proprietary DSP engine provides awesome digital effects such as reverb, delay, chorus, and flange, while an analog front end generates classic amp emulation tones.

You don't even need a cable. Like all Pocket Rockit products, the V2 plugs directly into any guitar. Just plug it in, put on your headphones and you're ready to rock 'n' roll. You can even play along with your favorite CD. Best of all, the V2 sounds better than many full-blown amplifiers.

The C Tech V2's amp emulation circuitry models vintage and current classics. The Clean amp button scrolls through 3 clean or slightly over-driven tones. The Dirty amp button scrolls through 3 gnarly, positively nasty high-gain selections. Sounds reminiscent of classic Fender, Marshall, Soldano and other amps are at your fingertips.

This headphone amp has 2 independent DSP effect banks: a delay bank with straight delay, flange, and chorus: and a reverb bank that includes arena reverb, small-hall reverb, and an echo effect. Use any effect independently, or use one from each bank simultaneously.

A digital tuner features audible low-E, A, D, G, B and high-E notes. Tri-colored LED indicates flat, sharp, or in tune. It's a perfect tool for improving your ear. A built-in click track/metronome has a naturally- sampled snare drum hit - there's no annoying buzz or tone. The Pocket Rockit's metronome has adjustable tempos between 60 -180 bpm provides a great way to work on your time.

Overall a very good unit.
Overall this is a quality unit. I was a little disappointed in the different tones. I had an earlier version of the Pocket Rockit and the crunch sounds were a little stronger on the older version.
The voice prompts are nice and even though the tuner is a tone instead of a meter, the addition of a tuner is a welcome one.
I recommend this unit highly because of the ease of use and the many features including the headphones and adapters which are included.
Nice job!
Good overall quality.
Good value for the included features and accessories.

One of the frustrations with this unit is it will turn itself off if it doesn't sense a signal within three minutes, I wrote to them and received the following suggestion from their tech support:

"V2 unit has an auto shut off function to help preserve battery in case you forget to turn it off. What is likely happening in your case is that you have the volume level on your guitar turned down too low so that the V2 is not sensing a guitar signal and is shutting off. Solution is to always have your guitar volume set to MAX and control output volume in headphones with volume control on the V2."

Bottom line is your guitar needs to produce enough signal to avoid this condition from occuring.

A little thin for me!

By James Stoll

from California

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

No matter what I tried, I just couldn't get that real beefy tone that I like. Sounded really tinny and way too bright for my taste. Funny thing is, I loved the original Pocket Rockit, (The small black one). Also for $100.00 I think that it could be built a lot better than a piece of plastic w/3 screws holding it all together! If you dropped it, it would probably break! for the money, I would get a line 6 pocket POD. (way better!)
Hope that V3 is better!

A Must Have Practice Tool

By Hound Dog Smith

from Acworth, GA

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

If you want to practice anywhere, at anytime, and not worry about bothering anyone, then this is a wonderful option. I was very impressed with the features that cannot be matched by the competition. I was also impressed with how portable it is and that it easily fits in my gig bag. Features include two amp styles, three levels of distortion, reverb, sustain, built in tuning and low battery indicator. Solid construction and good sound quality. A must have for musicians that need to practice at less than convenient times, but also need to be considerate of roomates and other family members. I do not know how I lived without it for the last twenty years.

Very Good

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

Used it a month and still have the previous model. It's the best little practice tool and no humming like the last model I had, unless I'm too close to the TV. My favorite activity is to play along with band backing tracks thru my computer into the device and jam with the "blues you can use" & "band in a pocket" book/cd. Some of these reviewers think it should sound like a $500 amp. Sounds fine to me on my Telecaster, especially with reverb3, delay3, and clean3 settings. Unit is not cheaply built, headphones are fine.

Great Amp!

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

This amp delivers just what we want it to. The wife and kids are still sleeping and we can play! The sound quality is excellent and enjoyable to hear. The effects aren't too sophisticated but for 100 bucks there are plenty of choices. A must buy if you want a "quiet amp".

I love my pocket rockit

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

My wife is in med-school, studying all the time, so a regular amp isn't really an option for me to practice with. The rockit V2 saves the day. I can practice at 'full volume' and never bother her. The built in tuner, isn't super-accurate, but it does the job for cheap. The metronome is helpful for a beginner like me. And the effects are varied enough to keep my interest up. Where ever I take my axe, I take my rockit. You should get your own headphones though, the ones it comes with are pretty lame.

Great Product

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

I got this product as a gift and I got to say the sound goes way beyond any expectations I had for a small plastic Amp. This thing sounds better than my super Rev!! The built in tuner works perfect. The short delay effects are a little thin in the clean amp modes but overall I am very happy with the incredible range of sounds you can get with this thing. The "snare drum" metronome is awsome for blues and rock stuff.

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

I'm a beginner, so daily practice on the basics is vital for me. I travel all over the world, so a small guitar/amp package is important.I use this amp with my Traveler Speedster, and it's nice to be able to practice on a plane, in a hotel room, or anywhere else I want to go.It has a nice selection of effects, and the click is great for picking up speed. The battery compartment cover seems a bit flaky, and the built in tuner tunes each note to the sharp. Since my Orange Micro-Crush has a proper built-in tuner, I simply use it, or the tuner on my laptop when I'm traveling.

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

I got this obviously for headphone practice but I much prefer my little Digitech RP50. The C-Tech V2 is very WIMPY. The headphones had come apartand also made static when you touched the headphone input. The 6 tones are quite fine but there is no real delay just a doubling. The REVERB is the WORST I've ever heard. I mean if Zoom and Digitech and Behringer can cram a good reverb into something for under $100 then why can't C Tech? It is VERY LOUD. Someone may like that!

Sound quality lacking for the price

By PickyOldFart

from Upstate NY

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

Read the current product description carefully. The front end is Analog, and not digital amp modeling. This unit is certainly feature-rich, and the direct plug-in to the guitar is really nice. It gives you a choice of a half dozen clean and distorted amp sounds, along with some reverb and delay effects. However, the actual tone of those amps is somewhat lifeless. A good set of headphones improved things a little (the set included aren't too bad), but it just sounded dead compared to digital modeling devices I've used, some of which cost no more than this unit. And that's the real problem; It's just disappointing tone-wise for the cost of the amp. Perhaps I'd have not been so dissapointed had I spent half as much for it. It's not that it's a bad product, it's just that the sound quality is not in line with the feature set or price.

Pocket Rockit V1 cuts out

By Painter33

from Delaware

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

I've had it for five weeks and used it sporadically until one night it just started cutting out. I just kept getting worse until now it's completeluy useless. The 9v battery barely fits and so the cover is difficult to open. It also came with a scratch on the battery cover but I didn't mind because that shouldn't hurt performance. Something has hurt performance to the point that it doesn't function. I'd return it except that I can't find the receipt....

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

This little V2 is packed with everything I need to practice on the road. Great tones, decent effects, and a built in tunner. Voice prompts to help you keep track of the effects that are engaged is also very clever. I love it.

Lacking

By dcsmith

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

The Good: Nice looking package. Good controls. Voice prompting when changing settings is neat. Plenty of volume/gain structure. Nice basic tunerThe Bad: The chorus is virtually nonexistent. If you listen carefully you hear rapid clicks whe you pluck a string. The reverb sounds cheap. So much potential. So little delivery.

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

I have used this pocket amp on my speedster for a few months and I love it. The features are great and give me plenty of varity on any guitar i plug it into while on the run. I would have rated higher on value if c-tech would have added rechargable battery and charger to this package. I would have paid the extra for it to.

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

Well, I practice alot at home and the wife (and neighbors) don't want me playing loud. Well, if its not loud it's not rock right?! So I looked around and I also wanted portability. I saw this in my guitar rag and decided to give it a try. So far I LOVE it. I can walk around the house with it, no cables, nothing, I can take it anywhere to practice. The only thing I don't like is I get a wee bit of a buzz once in a while. It does go away when playing with the volumes and such. It has a great beat counter, tones, reverb, clear, and my fav, distortion levels. It makes me feel like I have the amp turned up, now I'm not bothering a soul. I recommend it for those who don't want to lug around an amp to practice and if you are somewhere where there is no where to plug an amp into, this thing is great for practice.

Jack in This Box!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

C Tech's V2 is loaded with features and effects that sound bad and perform poorly, and demonstrates thoughtless design and engineering. In shopping for a decent headphone amp in the vein of the classic Rockman to knock around the house with, I road-tested C Tech's Pocket Rockit ST at my local Guitar Center. While the unit was fragile, it had a very decent sounding tube distortion setting and it was CHEAP.I then saw the new V2 on Musician's Friend, and, based on my experience with the ST, believed that this unit (which cost almost 3x the ST) would only build on the positives of the ST. WRONG! The built-in tuner (FEATURE) calibrates at approximately 1/2 step below 440 as compared to my Korg tuner. The 3-position distortion settings (FEATURE) totally miss out on the warm, almost natural sound of the ST.The reverb and delay effects (FEATURE) must be heard to be fully depreciated. The cordless connector design (FEATURE) is a COMPLETE design miss, as unless you use a Strat or other instrument that had the output jack set on guitar's face, the unit and its many FEATURES are hidden, unaccessible, and actually in danger of being smashed if you set down the guitar without first unplugging it. Upshot: Save some money, forget the FEATURES.

Impressed

By DRT_Strat

from Albuquerque, NM

Comments about C Tech Pocket Rockit V2 Guitar Headphone Amplifier:

I received the V2 today.I plugged it into my Strat and immediately was impressed with the sound quality. I preferand DSP effects over the old analog op amp technology and I own many DSP effect PA processors and my pedal board supports 5 DSP effects. This little jewel emulates great distortion, delay and reverb effects. I'm truly impressed that C Tech wrapped it all up in a small, compact case.
