I got this thing out of the box, and i was impressed with the size, its a nice compact overdrive pedal. Up until now i have been using a boss DS-1 for all my overdrive/distortion sounds. Not a bad setup, but not overly versitile, especially since i have been expanding out and doing more classic rock, blues, southern rock, etc. I plugged my Les Paul into it, and I got that sweet overdrive at about 12 o clock on the gain knob. Turn the gain down, and this thing makes for a wonderful clean boost! What this will not do well is the really high gain-y stuff. Gain fully cranked, you're looking at a tone similar to funk 49, as far as gain is concerned. This pedal is dynamic, articulate, every not of the chord rings out. It is a great addition to any collection!

Electro-Harmoics makes some of the best pedals and this is no exception. But as a overdrive pedal its laking. It could use a bit more range in gain, and the volume can become quite sensitive after 2 o'clock. But I love the tone feature. It feels very natural, like an extension of your guitars tone knob. Over all, for the price its a good pedal to have, but comparing it to a Tube Screamer is unfair.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix East River Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this pedal because it was priced very cheaply in comparison to other OD pedals, and I love EHX. I had recently bought a Mooer Green Mile and owned a OCD Fulltone when I got my East River Drive. So I lined them up and to great disbelief and awe, the EAST River Drive is the best. It growls with tone and darkness with my fender 70s Precision and gives a sinister undercurrent to my Rick 330. This pedal isn't about versatility. It's about being the best at what it does. You won't regret it

Comments about Electro-Harmonix East River Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I honestly don't know what to say other than WOW. It's such a simple little pedal and makes my tone shine. I use it as a slight overdrive on my clean channel and it sores. Very good tone.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix East River Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I loved this pedal the first time I heard it ( youTube). its like a tubescreamer on steroids. just MORE of a sweet or biting overdrive sound. I like that pick attack can bring out that nice breakup. Plays well with humbuckers and single coils. Character changes a bit with each. Cant beat the price either. A great sound at half the price of most pedals! I really love that about the East River Drive.

Comments about Electro-Harmonix East River Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

So when I bought this a couple weeks ago I had no idea it was brand new. I tested this side by side with the ibenz tubescreamer and this thing owns. The tube screamer really needed to be cranked to get the slight break up I wanted which made the amp to loud to just sit and jam on. This guy broke up the amp quicker and quieter. Ive been searching for a overdrive for a long time and I finally found it. It can just be a little girtty or you can get some rather heavy sounds out of this guy. Great pedal and great price!

Comments about Electro-Harmonix East River Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

Just got this in the mail today, and I was not disappointed. Does exactly what I wanted it to do, which is add more sustain/a little grit to my clean sound and it REALLY added sustain to the dirty channel as well as pushing it right to the edge. I use a JCM 800 1x12 50 watt Marshall and the distortion is friggin' great (as its reputation precedes it). But, with this little guy in the signal chain, you get that that little bit more that amounts to a lot. It makes the amp go from great rock sound to truly searing leads and great (not sterile) metal tones! If you want this to function as your distortion sound, you're barking up the wrong tree; it doesn't have that much gain (unless you're playing blues or country maybe).

That being said I would love it if it came with 2 separate channels because the settings I want for the clean channel OD should be a little less than for the dirty channel. But hell, at this price I might as well just buy a 2nd one. Also, the overall construction/feel of the pots isn't super top notch which could be a problem in the future as drunks tend to step on your gear at gigs sometimes. And the city image thing ain't doing much for me; just paint it solid green or something.

Anyways, if what I described is what you're looking for, BUY IT! (I've heard worse overdrives for well over twice the price)

I play an Ibanez Artist with EMGs through a Vox tube amp and the East River lets me play in the overdrive zone without being too loud. The only downside is the sound is a tiny bit dry, so I use it with a tremelo pedal. For the price it is an awesome pedal!

I was looking for a tube screamer to stack with my Klon Klone overdrive (Smokin' Amps Co, Golden Pony). I watched a lot of videos and comparisons and bought this because EHX makes great quality stuff in an affordable package.

This is almost half the price of a regular TS and I think it sounds awesome. It really has a lot of tonal possibilities as well as easily dialing in that classic TS sound. Kudos to these guys, they just make solid products.

This pedal is hands down the best buy I've ever come across in the world of guitar effects pedals. I have spent over twice what this costs for a vastly inferior product, and they were still good overdrives, but nothings topped this so far. The ERD is supposed to be a very faithful 808 clone designed under the direction of Analog Man himself. The ERD sounds very much like an 808, but seems to let through a bit more of the bass and low mid frequencies. Its slightly less focused on the upper mids than most TS variants that I've tried out. Its chunkier while mantaining sparking treble and mids. To think that all along I could have had my favorite od pedal for 80$ sickens me, lol. Ive spent quite a chunk of change on boutique drive pedals, often of the more "transparent" variety, and this takes the cake. It just adds a very sweet, singing, and slightly compressed vibe while letting the tone of your guitar/amp shine through. I use mine with an Orange Rocker amp. Its pretty high gain, and a little loose on the bottom, as the modern orange tone is bottom heavy and fuzz like in a way. This pedal tightens my drive tone up in a very significant and desirable way for many types of heavier music that require searing lead tones and tight, percussive palm mutes. Perfect for any type of metal out there. Its a superior boost for this purpose IMO, as it lets in a little more bass and leaves you with a very heavy chugging sound. I couldn't recommend this pedal any more. For the price, it's a no brainer...

I own lots of OD pedals. My two favorite are the ehx english muffin and the ehx east river drive. I use the english muffin basically as the preamp section of an amp. I use the east river drive as what it is, an overdrive pedal. There are virtually a billion and a half ways to overdrive an amp, but I really like this pedal for its tone. There are so many od pedals out there but this one really speaks to me with its tone. I have always felt that it takes me back to that sound on the ac/dc back in black album. My wife bought me this pedal as a gift in 2015 and it was DOA, it wouldn't turn on. She had no receipt so I couldn't return it. She bought it again for a gift in 2016 and it worked just fine. I have seen lots of demos of this pedal and heard that sound every time. I plugged in to a tiny practice amp and set the dials modestly and there it was. There was that tone and sensitivity that I have loved since I was a kid. I don't really care about the tone sweep, the range of gain, or the versatility of the dang thing. This one just has that "hard to put a finger on it" something that drives my amp but still lets all those extremely subtle nuances of my playing shine through. It is not perfect but it is EXACTLY what I wanted.

                                    I love this pedal.

I primarly play for church in our worship team and am relatively new to electric guitar, pedals, etc.

I picked up the Boss SD-1 and DS-1 as industry standard to start to learn from. It became clear that I was getting too much dirt from those pedals to use in the majority of our worship set. My amp is already a little dirty, so adding the SD1 went straight to crunch without much gap.

Enter the ERD. I researched for a long time looking for TS808/TS8/TS9-like pedals that were flexible, had a good clean drive with flexibility to go from very light to medium dirt and really liked the sound from the ERD in youtube reviews with varying setups from single coil to bar humuckers, etc.

I love this pedal. In my signal chain I needed it to add gain and drive, the boost is excelent, drive is clean and punchy and get get to moderate dirt if you go all the way. With my rig it tends to run a little on the treble side, so I run the tone at 10 o'clock.

For my set last weekend, I ran te volume at 2 oclock, drive at 9 oclock and tone at 10 o clock. This gave me a good clean punch. I received a lot of positive feedback about my tone this weekend. No one knew I swapped pedals but me.

The only concern I have, it seems to have quite a bit of hiss/hum when egaged. I put an EHX silencer on the gain side of my effects loop, so it doesn't bother me, but would if I didn't have the noise gate engaged.
