OVERVIEW

A huge wealth of tones in a portable, versatile platform.

How can a modern legend like the Mustang digital amplifiers be improved? Simple—Fender did it again, bigger and better with the Mustang GT 40. Fender made it easy to control a studio’s worth of authentic amp and effects models with one finger via Bluetooth and the exclusive Fender Tone app. Fender invented the world’s first WiFi-equipped guitar amplifier, making it easy for you to download the latest updates, access Fender artist-created presets, and connect directly with a community of other creative players and music makers like yourself. Fender created the Mustang GT 40 digital amplifier.

Packed with 21 classic amp models—everything from the renowned ’59 Bassman to modern metal—and 46 different effects, the Mustang GT 40 can easily recreate classic tones or create brand-new, never-before-heard sounds. Fender developed new algorithms with even higher fidelity and more realistic response, along with more signal path flexibility so you can move effects anywhere in the signal chain for creative exploration. Program your sounds in the studio on the Mustang GT 40’s large, full-color LCD display and then, with one hand, take them anywhere for the most realistic listening experience possible.

Fender invented inspiring tone, and our updated amp models let your instrument’s voice and the dynamic nuances of your playing come through, reacting just like the originals to your every move. Lighten your attack to “clean up” your sound or dig in to make it grunt or howl—the Mustang GT 40 and its dual 6-in. Fender Special Design speakers reproduce every part of your performance or Bluetooth wireless audio stream with precision. Adding the optional MGT-4 4-button footswitch for hands-free preset/FX switching and looper control turns the Mustang GT 40 into a truly formidable performance powerhouse.

Adding convenient, one-finger control to the Mustang GT 40’s power is the easy-to-use Fender Tone app. Not only can you connect to the Fender Digital ecosystem for learning and sharing, you can easily upgrade the amp’s capabilities, adding more power and presets without patching a single cable or plugging in a soldering iron. One amp for every stage, the Mustang GT 40 is easy for any player but powerful enough to go around the world.

Had a Mustang V ver 2 head, loved it but am not into gigging at this time, mostly working in my home studio, the new GT 40 is perfect!. Hooked up to my phone, notepad and home network in minutes, easy! Great 3 color interface and easily mastered in less than an hour. The footswitch with the looper is handy. Either running thru the studio system or standing alone this little amp has great tone, I would have liked the XLR line out but the head phone jack works just as good and delivers stereo to the mixer, the rest from there is nothing but great sound as you would expect from the Fender Mustang Series.

I have had and own many amplifiers and some I like, some I don't. Although I am a firm believer that any piece of gear is capable of creating a good or at the very least acceptable sound. Except this.

I will say the one good thing I liked about this. It's very light and I had the GT 100. The bad is every single sound I edited or samples that were given sounded as though a blanket or pillow in front of the amp. Each sound and setting be it dirty or clean had this coating of something that sounded just awful.
I don't know if it's the speaker or something in the programming but 1) I am not buying a new amp to replace a part. I buy something for what it is and not to tinker. 2) if it is the programming I am not waiting for a fix.

This is really disappointing coming from Fender especially how great each model of the Mustang's of the past were, at least I thought so. The Bluetooth is a good idea and it seems they were really trying to add some upgrades to the previous model but in the process they lost the concept of what is most important. The quality of sound. Sounds are subjective but these GT's have a dull coating over everything. I don't know what else to call it.

There is a reason you don't see these around or mentioned a lot as some of the other modelers or in same price range. You can actually get far better for much less. Buyer beware and if interested make sure you can return it. I did in a day and a half and I never return anything..

Comments about Fender Mustang GT 40 40W 2x6.5 Guitar Combo Amplifier:

I've tested this junk out at Guitar Center last week, and I'm not impressed. I knew it was going to be a cheap build from the looks and feel, but was hoping the sound was the same or similar to the original Mustang Amp series that this is modeled after. After playing and tweaking for over 20 mins or so, I couldn't say anything good about it. Cheap build and sound = garbage. I most certainly won't be buying.

Great Little Amp!

Comments about Fender Mustang GT 40 40W 2x6.5 Guitar Combo Amplifier:

The first tone is just awesome. The Basic '65 Twin, paired with my Strat has a great Fender signature sound to it. Great idea to be able to go browse other sounds and upload them right to the amp. Great amp to have around the house.

Problems/Tips:
The Bluetooth wasn't working, and it wouldn't connect to my internet, so I took it to my in-laws and it connected just fine. I was able to update the software and now the bluetooth works much better. There is still a ways to go, but I would say it's at least 75% functional.

Really impressed with the sound and clarity. The presets are spot on. The bluetooth and wifi connection, updates, and option to use as a regular bluetooth speaker are a nice plus. For the price, can't beat it.

Comments about Fender Mustang GT 40 40W 2x6.5 Guitar Combo Amplifier:

The Fender Mustang is really one amp for every stage, this nice little amp is easy for player but powerful enough to go around and in room. First honestly I bought Line 6 Spider V 30 W but after two days, volume stop working. I exchanged it to GT 40 and happy that I did, Line 6 spider by the way less powerful, but GT 40 a little more expensive. 4* starts because of it was took a long to connect Wi-Fi and it will be good come up with a nicer design instead of poor black box.

I love this amp. I've had it a week or so and I'm still learning/noodling around with it. It was easy to connect to WIFI and bluetooth. For me the Tone App is the best way to control the box, the controls on the amp are okay but the app makes accessing tones and effects much easier. Additional presets are easily downloaded. Playing backing tracks through the amp is nice too.The sound is very good and the volume is adequate for practice. It's small enough to leave out in the family room or bedroom without it being in the way.

Comments about Fender Mustang GT 40 40W 2x6.5 Guitar Combo Amplifier:

It's a little pricey for such a small amp, but for older guys (35+) that just want something with simple with modest volume and decent tone it's pretty awesome for the role. When I was younger it would not have met my needs for metal power cords, but now that I've moved on to more clean and blues tones with occasional metal it's perfectly fine. The amp modeling is more than decent, reverb is smooth and plenty of effects to make just about any sound you'd want in an ultra portable amp. It's clearly not for gigs or jamming with your buddy and his half stack.

Don't get me wrong, I like kittens, but kittens are kittens, and lions are lions.

This amp has a wide variety of sounds and effects, at the expense of sound quality. All metal distortion settings sound like an ill kitten trying to roar. Non metal distortions and clean sounds sound better, but still lack in strength.

If you have a nice pedal and a nice guitar, this amp will still make you sound awful. You're better off buying a cheaper amp that doesn't try to do too much at the same time with a cheap multi effect pedal.
