A faithful digital recreation of Joe Bonamassa’s iconic high-power tweed Twin tone.
One of Joe Bonamassa’s most treasured vintage amp sounds enters the modern era with the Fender Tone Master ’59 Twin-Amp JB Edition. Capturing the soaring cleans and roaring overdrive of the late-’50s high-power tweed Twins that have long anchored his stage and studio rigs, this meticulously modeled tribute pairs authentic tube-inspired tone with the lightweight, stage-ready flexibility today’s players demand. The 85W digital power section can be scaled through seven output settings down to just 0.5W, opening up the cranked character of a high-powered Twin at volumes suited to everything from home playing and recording to full-scale performance. Dual 12" Celestion JB85 NEO signature speakers deliver Joe’s preferred 2x12 response without the weight of traditional speakers, while a solid pine cabinet preserves the classic tweed construction. Convolution reverb, an effects loop and an XLR line output with selectable cabinet simulation extend the amp well beyond its vintage inspiration, making this first-ever signature Tone Master a remarkably flexible realization of one of Joe’s favorite Fender sounds.
Tone Master Modeling Captures the Character of Joe’s Late-’50s Twin
At the heart of the Tone Master ’59 Twin-Amp JB Edition is Fender’s detailed digital modeling of the late-’50s high-power tweed Twin, an amp prized for its enormous clean presence and increasingly aggressive overdrive as the volume climbs. Normal and Bright channels each offer two inputs and independent Volume controls, giving players different starting points for shaping the amp’s response. Shared Treble, Middle, Bass and Presence controls provide familiar tone shaping across both channels, preserving the straightforward layout of the vintage design. The result captures the broad dynamic range that makes Joe’s late-’50s Twins so compelling, moving from bold, articulate cleans to rich, roaring drive as the amp is pushed.
Seven Power Settings Bring High-Power Twin Tone Anywhere
The formidable volume of an original high-power tweed Twin is part of its appeal, but it can also make reaching the amp’s driven sweet spots impractical in smaller spaces. The Tone Master ’59 Twin-Amp JB Edition addresses that challenge with seven selectable output levels: 0.5W, 1W, 3W, 5W, 20W, 45W and the full 85W. Players can dial back the available output for home practice, recording or smaller stages while still exploring the modeled amp’s response as its Volume controls are pushed. At full power, the Twin retains the headroom and authority needed for demanding live situations, giving one amplifier a remarkably broad working range.
Dual Celestion JB85 NEO Speakers Deliver Joe’s Signature Response
Two 12" Celestion JB85 NEO signature speakers were selected to complement the Tone Master ’59 Twin-Amp JB Edition’s expansive 2x12 voice. Developed for Joe, the neodymium speakers help reproduce the range of the modeled Twin while significantly reducing the weight associated with conventional ceramic or alnico speaker designs. They’re housed in a solid pine cabinet finished in classic tweed with Bassman-style grille cloth, preserving the unmistakable visual character of the late-’50s inspiration. Together, the lightweight speakers and pine enclosure give players the scale and presence of a high-powered 2x12 in a package designed with modern portability in mind.
Modern Tools Take the Tweed Twin Beyond Its Roots
The Tone Master ’59 Twin-Amp JB Edition adds a suite of modern features that would be impossible to find on an original late-’50s Twin. Convolution reverb brings spacious ambience directly into the amp, while an effects loop provides a convenient connection point for pedal-based rigs. An XLR line output supports direct connections to recording or live-sound systems, with a three-position cabinet simulation selector, adjustable output level and ground lift providing additional control. A rear-panel Vintage/Tight switch offers another way to tailor the amp’s response, while USB-C connectivity rounds out a feature set designed for contemporary stage and studio workflows.
A Vintage Fender Favorite Reimagined With Joe Bonamassa
Joe Bonamassa has spent decades building his reputation as one of blues rock’s most respected guitarists, pairing formidable technique with a deep appreciation for the vintage guitars and amplifiers that shape his sound. His extensive collection has become nearly as renowned as his playing, yet late-’50s high-power Fender Twins have remained enduring fixtures in his touring and recording rigs. The Tone Master ’59 Twin-Amp JB Edition turns that personal connection into Fender’s first signature Tone Master amplifier, preserving the bold cleans, cranked overdrive and imposing 2x12 character that drew Joe to the originals while removing many of their practical limitations. With scalable output, lightweight signature speakers and modern stage and studio tools, it brings one of Joe’s treasured vintage Fender sounds into a form built to be played far beyond the environments where an original high-powered Twin makes sense.
