I spent about a month trying out acoustic amps and was able to hear about a dozen. In several cases I got to set up 3 or 4 and try them side-by-side to get a real comparison. I tested them all using my own Martin acoustic/electric so that the comparison was consistent. This amp blows away everything in the price range, and was better than several amps I tried that cost a lot more. The sound is incredibly crisp, clean, and bright. Both guitar and vocal remian very natural. The craftsmanship is excellent as well, with wonderful attention to detail. It has plenty of power and you can crank it way up without any distortion. It has all the features of other amps in its category but delivers them in a package that is classy, compact, and extremely easy to use. Getting the sound I wanted dialed in took less than 5 minutes. There is one subtle feature that was the clincher for me. This amp has a slick reverb control that allows you to fade the reverb across the two channels so that you can have reverb on just one channel or blend it between the two. The chorus can be applied to both channels independently. This means that I can put Chorus on just the guitar channel and use reverb on just the vocal channel or blend with the reverb mostly on vocal and slightly on the guitar channel. Bottom line is that you can get just the right ambience and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. Thanks Marshall for setting a new standard!

I tried this amp in one the guitar centers and I was amazed by the quality and sound of this marshall amp. I even recommend it to my friend and he also bought one.But after a few months using it, suddenly a buzz or booming sound appeared, specially when I hit the G chord. I thought it was just my amp but my friend who bought the same amp also have the same problem. So I end up trading the marshall amp to a Roland JC-90 which is so far holding up for me.

Pretty Good

By Guitarmelter101

I bought this amp a couple months ago to practice with the band. At first it sounded pretty clear and loud. Then, it startedcto buzz and deliver a bad tone. After experimenting with different guitars and amps I really wouldn't have bought. This amp.

Marshall AS50R

Pros

Cons

    • Gigs Recording Jamming

I must say that I'm VERY picky about my sound/tone.
I would never get rid of this amp for no one! I have tried many acoustic amps, of evry brand name you can think of. The Marshall AS50R absolutely destoyed them all! I play a Yamaha CPX500II. Here's a little secret...First get your amp dialed in to your personal liking. Then, get yourself a BBE Sonic Maximizer stomp box, and run it thru the fx loop in the back. Then set both knobs at about the 12'oclock position. The sound is absolutely AMAZING!!

    A MUST HAVE

    By WestMonroeJonman

I bought this amp the other day. I love it. I have a Big Baby Taylor with a Martin Thinline 332 Plus pickup. The guitar sounds ok plugged up to a PA, but with this amp, it is a whole new guitar. WOW! This amp is also very powerful. I use it at home and at church. I highly recommmed it to everyone.

    Great Amp

    By Matt-_NiTb

This amp works great! The XLR-out and two channels are awesome for whenever I play. It's everything I need. The only thing it's missing is more power.

    BUY THIS AMP!!

I use this amp all the time and it has an unbelievable sound. I can have my guitar and amp turned all the way up and it is still crystal clear. You get what you pay for, so you need this amp. I use it for leading praise and worship in a room that is probably 40 x 60 and it has way more than enough power. I run it on 6 and it is balanced with our 250 watt PA. Marshall made this a quality amp and 50 watts is plenty of power since it stays so clear w/o any distortion at higher levels. Save some money and buy this instead of the 100w one because to play in a room larger than this amp would handle would probably already have its own PA system and then you could just mic your amp anyway.

This amp is the greatest thing that I've ever plugged an accoustic guitar into! The power is perfect and the chorus effect is awesome. The only other amp that I would consider as a replacement is it's bigger brother the Marshall AS100D. Buy this amp, you won't ever regret it.

    Excellent Amp

    By Guitar Prisoner

    from Rockland, NY

Tonal reporduction is great. I play a Seagull Cedar/Mahogany artist series through this amp and it really captures the warm tone of the Seagull. Only drawback is that Martin does not offer and guide to using the controls. Customer service was great at meeting my best price and shipped fast.

    ACOUSTIC GUITAR PLAYER'S DREAM!!!

    By 22F 6S EndlessPlay

    from Mt. Laurel, NJ

This amp is down right amazing. Great price for the quality, and sounds AWESOME. Very clear when playing quietly at your home, or when you need to be heard over a drumset and a vocalist on stage. "Chorus" option is like having a 12 string built into your amp. Easy controls for the beginner, and plenty of bells and whistles for the serious performer. A++!!

Smooth, Warm Tone - Gotta Have It

This amp is awesome. I tried alot of amps before I bought this one, including Fender acoustasonic, Crate Taos, GenzBenz, Behringer AC100 and some others. This amp holds its tone at low and high volume, both indoors and out, while reproducing true acoustic guitar sound. It also allows you to apply effects to the guitar, but keep the mic channel clean. It's a great amp at a great price. I love this amp. In fact, I just bought the t-shirt.

    Great Sound and NOT Disappointed

    By Superb Amp and Tone!

    See all my reviews

I bought this amp along with a Martin acoustic/electric. The tone of this amp is great. It is better than the fender acoustics I've tried. Can't beat the tone. Only issue is I need to mike the amp but prefer to go direct to PA. There is no XLR connection in back of amp.

This little Marshall really packs a punch. Small in size but creates a loud and true acoustic sound. It really preserves the sound of acoustic and a great price. Good buy for sure.

I had been looing for an amp that reflected the sound of my acoustic guitars. I played several spending hours playing different amps before someone let me play one of these amps. I was floored by the natural sound. I bought one asap after that and have been in love with it since. I would recomend this amp to my best friend with out hesitation.

    Not disapointed but....

    By JBM-1bwA4

Have had said amp over a month and played out with it. My only hang-up is with mid range settings. I've resolved that with guitar EQ and messing around with amp tones but still is a bit muddy. Other than that this puppy is a max screamer and looks dynamite with plenty of balls.

Great amp. I play a Gibson Chet Atkins SST through it and it sounds like and SJ-200. If you enjoy Dave Matthews, those two make for a great combination.
