OVERVIEW

All the magic of the original, now with even more features.

The Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay adds a bevy of new features to fine-tune the warm, organic sound that has made the original the bestselling analog delay in the world. With extended delay time—now up to 1.2s—and tap tempo functionality, you now have more control over your Carbon Copy repeats than ever.

The Tap Division feature, with an easy-to-read status display, gives you four different subdivisions: dotted 8ths, 8ths, triplets and 16ths. On the tonal side, the Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay lets you choose between the original’s dark, mellow wash and the vibrant articulation of the Bright version with the push of a switch. To add further character and texture to your repeats, just hit the Mod switch and use the Speed and Width controls to shape the chorusing to your taste. Additional features include an expression jack for external control of various functions, programmable presets and more.

Comments about MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay Pedal:

There are countless delay pedals....but always, somehow, I come back to the Maxon AD-900....perhaps because the initial repeat(s) are just a little bit "truer" to the played note (although some people would use the adjective 'warmer' or 'sweeter') than the initial repeat(s) or other delays. Please, don't get me wrong – I do not say that the complex algorithms of the state of the art digital delays such as the Eventide H9 sound unacceptable. It's just something that the bucket brigade chips (and the MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe utilizes 8 of them) of analog delays add to the sound that is very appealing.

I AB'd the Maxon AD-900 with the MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe using the Radial Loopbone pedal (because the AD-900 has no true bypass) and played through them for more than one hour using several different guitars, including one Strat with Kinman's Woodstock Plus singlecoils (two AVn-69's and the Hx-85 bridge pickup) and the second one with DiMarzio's singlecoils (two DP419's and the DP420 bridge pickup) and a couple of guitars with various humbuckers. The amps I used were an ENGL Fireball 100 and an PRS Archon 50 connected to a speaker cabinet with one 8-ohm Celestion G12H-150 Redback and one 8-ohm Eminence Wheelhouse 150 connected in series....at some settings, it was not easy to tell the difference between the 2 analog delays (particularly when playing guitars with humbuckers) and, in general, I was impressed with the sounds I heard. Moreover, unlike most analog delays, the MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe also has tap-tempo functionality and four tap subdivisions with dotted 8th, 8th, triplet, and 16th. And as an additional bonus for good measure – it has an in-built, great-sounding, switchable, chorus-type modulation effect with adjustable speed and width. In summary, I'll bet a bottle of Barolo that if you like analog delays, you are very likely not to be disappointed at all with this delay unit.

Comments about MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay Pedal:

If you like a traditional analog delay sound, get this pedal. The delay sounds are great and you have quite a bit of control over the sound it makes with both the bright switch and control over the modulation of the delay sound. The tap tempo works perfectly, as do the subdivisions, and is the main reason I selected this over the regular Carbon Copy. You will not be disappointed!

Comments about MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay Pedal:

I liked the original carbon copy just for slapback, and it had limitations for uses. Now this CC deluxe is a different breed. The fidelity is better, the modulation is much better, and tap tempo is a plus.
