PRS Archon 50 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head - Black

High-gain authority meets exceptional clean headroom in the PRS Archon 50, a commanding 50W tube amp head that pairs two distinct channels with extensive tone-shaping control and impressive clarity across its wide gain range. Five gain stages give the Lead channel a broad palette of overdriven textures and full, lush distortion, retaining clarity and definition even as the gain climbs. The Clean channel provides a striking counterpoint with rich, sparkling tones that stay articulate at higher volumes and offer plenty of headroom for pedals. Independent channel EQ, Volume and Master controls are joined by global Presence and Depth for detailed control over the amp's tone, texture and response. A tube-driven effects loop and flexible speaker connections support everything from streamlined setups to more elaborate rigs. Available in classic Black or limited-edition Black Paisley, the Archon 50 brings formidable gain, exceptional cleans and precise control together in a versatile performance platform.

Five Gain Stages Deliver Saturation With Exceptional Clarity

The Archon 50's Lead channel places five gain stages before the Master Volume, providing substantial range from muscular crunch to full, saturated distortion. Even at higher gain settings, the amp maintains impressive note separation, keeping individual notes defined through dense chords and fast passages rather than allowing saturation to overwhelm articulation. A tight low end gives heavier rhythm work a solid foundation, while the smooth high-frequency response keeps lead tones expressive without becoming harsh. With dedicated Volume and Master controls, players can shape the amount of preamp drive independently from the channel's overall output for precise control over gain and level.

High-Headroom Clean Channel Stays Clear and Pedal-Friendly

The Clean channel gives the Archon 50 a genuinely versatile second voice, delivering rich, sparkling tones with the headroom to remain clear and composed as volume increases. Strong note separation preserves detail across chords and melodic passages, while the broad dynamic range responds naturally to changes in picking attack. That clean foundation also makes the Archon an excellent platform for pedals, providing plenty of room for overdrives, modulation and other effects to retain their individual character. Dedicated Volume and Master controls allow the channel's level and response to be balanced independently from the Lead side.

Independent Controls Shape Tone, Texture and Response

Each Archon channel features dedicated Treble, Middle and Bass controls alongside Volume, Master Volume and a Bright switch, allowing its two voices to be shaped independently. The Bright switches add extra high-end presence when needed, while global Presence and Depth controls work within the power amp to further refine the overall response. Presence brings upper-mid and treble frequencies forward while influencing the texture and intensity of the high end. Depth adjusts low-frequency resonance, adding weight and dimension beneath the core tone. Together, these controls provide detailed shaping without compromising the Archon's straightforward two-channel workflow.

Flexible Connectivity Keeps the Archon Ready for Any Rig

A tube-driven series effects loop provides a dedicated path for time-based effects and other pedals placed after the preamp, making it easy to incorporate more complex pedalboards without sacrificing the Archon's core voice. Five extension speaker jacks accommodate a variety of cabinet configurations, with two parallel 4-ohm outputs, two parallel 8-ohm outputs and a dedicated 16-ohm connection. Adjustable bias with external monitoring jacks simplifies power-tube setup and maintenance, while the included one-button footswitch provides convenient switching between the Lead and Clean channels during performance.

Power, Clarity and Control Across Two Distinct Channels

The Archon 50 proves that commanding high gain and exceptional clean performance don't have to come at the expense of one another. Its five-stage Lead channel delivers everything from assertive crunch to lush saturation, while the high-headroom Clean channel provides an articulate foundation for pristine playing and pedal-driven rigs. Extensive channel controls and global Presence and Depth make it easy to tailor both voices without complicating the experience, backed by practical connectivity for stage and studio setups. Offered in classic Black or limited-edition Black Paisley, the PRS Archon 50 combines serious tonal range, responsive dynamics and precise control in a powerful 50W head.
