PRS Archon Classic 50W Tube Guitar Amp Head - Black Paisley

Hot-rodded vintage tone meets modern Archon performance in the PRS Archon Classic, a 50W tube head voiced around expressive '70s- and '80s-inspired gain, touch-sensitive breakup and exceptional note clarity. Its Lead channel emphasizes rich midrange character and a wide range of overdriven textures, while a hotter Clean channel moves from pristine tones into natural breakup. A pair of JJ 6CA7 power tubes provides a full, articulate foundation with lush highs and tight low-end response, complemented by independent channel controls and global Presence and Depth for detailed command over tone and feel. A tube-driven effects loop and five speaker outputs add practical flexibility for pedalboards and different cabinet setups. Wrapped in limited-edition Black Paisley, the Archon Classic brings hot-rodded vintage character, modern versatility and distinctive retro style together in one commanding 50W head.

Hot-Rodded Lead Channel Delivers Classic Gain With Modern Clarity

The Archon Classic's Lead channel is voiced around the rich, expressive gain associated with '70s and '80s rock amps, with a refined gain structure that offers a broad range of textures and added dimension through the midrange. Lower settings deliver muscular crunch and definition, while pushing the Volume adds saturation without sacrificing the note separation and articulation at the heart of the Archon design. Two JJ 6CA7 power tubes complement that character with a full, responsive voice, combining tight low-end authority with smooth, dimensional highs. The result is a vintage-minded gain structure with enough range and control to move confidently into more aggressive territory.

Hotter Clean Channel Moves Naturally Into Rich Breakup

The Clean channel is equally central to the Archon Classic's revoiced personality, offering more than a pristine counterpart to the Lead channel. At lower settings, it delivers clear, articulate tones with plenty of definition and headroom, providing a strong foundation for pedals and effects. Turning up the channel Volume introduces increasingly rich breakup, allowing players to move from clean tones into edge-of-breakup textures without reaching for an external boost. That expanded range gives the Archon Classic two genuinely expressive channels, with the Clean side providing its own spectrum of dynamic, touch-responsive drive.

Independent Controls Shape Tone, Texture and Response

Each channel features dedicated Volume, Master Volume, Treble, Middle and Bass controls, allowing gain structure, overall level and EQ to be tailored independently. A Bright switch on each side adds extra high-end presence when needed, while global Presence and Depth controls shape the response of the power amp across both channels. Presence brings forward upper-mid and treble frequencies while influencing the texture and intensity of the high end, and Depth adjusts low-frequency resonance to move between a tighter, more focused response and a fuller, heavier foundation. Together, the controls offer detailed tone shaping without complicating the Archon Classic's straightforward two-channel layout.

Flexible Connectivity Keeps the Archon Classic Rig-Ready

A tube-driven series effects loop provides a dedicated path for time-based effects and other pedals that benefit from placement after the preamp, while five extension speaker jacks accommodate a variety of cabinet configurations. Two parallel 4-ohm outputs, two parallel 8-ohm outputs and a dedicated 16-ohm connection provide flexibility for matching compatible speaker loads. Adjustable bias with external monitoring jacks simplifies power-tube setup and maintenance, and the included one-button footswitch provides convenient channel switching during performance. Together, these practical features make the Archon Classic easy to integrate into stage, studio and pedalboard-based rigs.

A Vintage-Minded Archon With a Character All Its Own

The PRS Archon Classic takes the familiar strengths of the Archon platform in a deliberately different direction, trading an emphasis on modern high gain for the midrange-rich drive, dynamic breakup and broader gain textures associated with hot-rodded vintage amps. Its revoiced Lead and Clean channels, 50W 6CA7 power section and responsive tone controls give players plenty of room to move from articulate cleans and edge-of-breakup sounds to saturated rock tones without relying on external boosts to define the amp's character. Finished in limited-edition Black Paisley, the Archon Classic balances understated retro style with vintage-inspired character and the range, clarity and control of a modern performance platform.
