This pedal sounds remarkably similar to my Fender Blues Junior. It is clean and chimes when you lightly pick. It barks when you dig in. It sounds like a good tube amp should. If that's what you're looking for look no further. If you are wanting a tube screamer keep looking. This isn't that. This is a pedal that can take a solid state amp and make it sound like a good tube amp. Or it can compliment a clean tube amp or even push one into real tube overdrive. It's a great pedal. I don't understand why it go any negative reviews other than maybe it just isn't what they buyer was looking for. For what it delivers, if it is what you're looking for, you have found a blue ribbon winner! Congratulations!

I bought this pedal from Muscian's Friend for a great price and free shipping. The item arrived very quickly and only took several days to get to my house. Upon open the pedal it seems sturdy and well built, that is until you plug it up. The bypass switch doesn't click like most other pedals, and you can't even really feel when the pedal is engaged. If it didn't have an indicator light, one would never know except for the horrible noises coming from it. The drive has a very thin, crackling sound like it is being played through a rusty, blown speaker. The louder you turn it up, the worse it gets. It's actually so bad, I thought I blew a tube in my amp. This pedal has cured me from ever buying a cheap pedal again. If it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Comments about TC Electronic Cinders Overdrive Effects Pedal:

I bought this for a gig because I left my pedal board 1000 miles away (long story). I was pleased with the "crunchy" overdrive this pedal produces, even at low drive levels. I didn't notice any coloring of my guitar's tone at all, which is much appreciated.

Comments about TC Electronic Cinders Overdrive Effects Pedal:

This is a really great pedal. First half of gain knob doesn't do a lot with my weak single coils, but the second half is super responsive. From noon to 5 o'clock gives you a WIDE range of sounds from bluesy to almost a mild distortion pedal. Great sounding overdrive. Crisp and transparent as advertised. Some complain that it's too bright, but it hasn't been a problem for me, and I'm playing through telecaster pickups. The tone knob works well for adjustments.

Comments about TC Electronic Cinders Overdrive Effects Pedal:

Using the Cinders with a Taylor W15 acoustic using an older DiMarzio woody soundhole pickup I've found that it can add "grit" to the GBE strings and leaves -the EAD thicker strings alone somewhat. This is great for me, since I finger-pick country blues songs and it supports my goal of separating the huge bottom bass from the treble sound, I use an unwound G string for the same reason and together, it makes a perfect combo along with medium strings and the Cinders for some dirty riffing
            melody playing.

I'm so desapontes.... I had great expectations for Cinders because I have other TC electronic pedals and really like them, Andy because the good comments ive read.
The size is too much.... a big pedal must be amazing to keep it in my pedalboard.
For me the sound is too gritty and fuzzy, Andy not like my tube amps.
If you are a fuzzy fan you should tried it.

Comments about TC Electronic Cinders Overdrive Effects Pedal:

I was looking for a pedal that would add just a bit of breakup to my clean guitar tone, without the midrange bump and compression of my previous pedal, the Boss SD1. The Cinders does that well, although the first half of the Drive control is pretty much all no to slight breakup. From 5 or 6 to 10, the pedal quickly adds overdrive until the highest setting is actually quite crunchy. I found myself rolling back the tone to keep the same tone between clean and overdrive. The top mounted jacks are a plus, as is the tough metal case. The switch moves easily, but I noticed a slight pop when switching. Overall, its a great pedal for very low to moderate gain, but you will want to take the time and dial it in.

This sounded much better than I expected for the price. Much preferred over my Boss Super Overdrive. The Cinders is much more transparent at lower gain and does not have the mid-range bump. Goes up to compressed sounding distortion at the upper gain limit. I use it between 9 and 12 o'clock on the gain for a nice breakup thru the clean channel of my Marshall combo. You cant go wrong trying this for 50. Your profanity filter is ridiculous. Come on!

I'm actually surprised that this pedal got any positive reviews! I found its character abrasive at any level! OK, I guess it could just be the way it sounds with MY set up and the fact that I prefer a smooth natural tube amp sounding breakup but at any rate it never made it on to my pedal board!
