OVERVIEW

A distortion pedal designed to be the only distortion you'll ever need.

When this pedal was thought up, it was decided that Wampler would take no prisoners. They would produce a pedal with so much gain it would wipe the floor with anything else.

This pedal is probably one of the tightest, thickest highest gain distortions you have ever heard. Many people say it sounds more like a 5150 amp to them than a distortion pedal. That may very well be - all we know is that Brian at Wampler designed it to just to be heavier than everything else and meaner than everything else, and it is.

With a solid three band EQ (total control allowing you to scoop out those mids without it peeking out the lows and highs like so many other pedals) you can emulate some of your favorite high gain tones, but as this pedal is so versatile, you can easily find a distinctive tone all of your own. Believe it or not, even when the gain is backed off, this pedal is still useable, it still sounds great.

There are two distinct voices in this pedal, Hard and Brutal. The Hard gives you that warmer thump high gain where as the Brutal allows a little more sparkle to creep in, giving it that more recent, full audio spectrum feel.

So, Wampler already put in loads of gain, maybe more than you need, so they put in a boost switch. Putting a boost switch on an already high gain pedal may sound crazy but you'll be amazed at how well it works. It gives you two options via the Boost Contour blend control. With the boost on and it dialed round to counter-clockwise, your distortion is multiplied and you have the solo sound you have always wanted. Pinch harmonics are just there, in places you've never found them before. With it dialed round to clockwise, your pedal turns into a fuzzy monster... Tweak the EQ and you can get tone that will remind you of the Smashing Pumpkins all the way to some Pink Floyd kind of fuzzy solo tone. It's all there, waiting for you.

Think about your favorite high gain tone. Is it a high gain with the mids scooped out, or is it roll your hand across the knobs to get that in your face, fuzzy, brutal attitude-melting distortion? Whatever you are looking for, this is probably the only pedal on the market that can satisfy all of those options. This pedal should come with a public health warning.

Comments about Wampler Triple Wreck Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal sounds amazing! You can get everything from warm overdrive tones to brutal and I mean BRUTAL fuzz. It's all in there! The best thing is the clarity and organic sound this pedal has to offer. Besides my tube screamer this is the only dirt pedal I have on my board. No need for fuzz pedals or any other high gain pedal with the triple wreck you get it all. The pedal itself is not much bigger then a standard boss pedal. Play this through a clean tube amp and you are golden.

Comments about Wampler Triple Wreck Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I honestly don't understand the hype behind the pedal. I had it for a couple of weeks and finally returned it.

The pedal is easily twice the cost of other boutique pedals, and doesn't sound nearly as good as many of those. I will say that the new relay switches are very nice and switching is completely noiseless. The build and component quality is great.

As to sound, I tried it with three different amps and a few different guitars, but just couldn't get anything more than "pretty good." The bass isn't particularly tight, despite what Wampler says; the boost feature turns the sound into fuzz rather than distortion (I know, that's the idea, but there are much better fuzzes out there); and most importantly, the market is saturated with cheaper pedals that are much better suited to all kinds of metal and high gain sounds.

Like I said, I don't get it; but, I am in the minority, so maybe I'm wrong. Still, I wouldn't recommend it unless it was SERIOUSLY discounted, and even then I'd say, buy it and sell it for a profit so you can get a better pedal.

Comments about Wampler Triple Wreck Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal truly is worth the expensive price. I had been eyeing it for quite sometime before I finally bit the bullet and forked over the cash. I wish I would have done it sooner. This thing rocks. It is a brutal high gin monster and also a awesome fuzz pedal when you use the boost. It really is 2 pedals in one so when you think about it that way the price isn't so bad. This pedal has pretty much made all my other pedals obsolete. Believe the hype about wampler pedals because it's true. this thing is about as close to a 5150 or rectifier as you are going to get in a pedal.

Comments about Wampler Triple Wreck Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Wampler hits another home run! This pedal joins an Ego compressor, Dual fusion and Faux Tape Echo on my pedal board. It sounds very close to my dual rectifier when running through the clean channel of my Carvin V3m. Being able to assemble a small, portable rig and then use these pedals to expand my tone palette has been liberating. With these pedals, one amp can cover almost any genre or style of music.

Comments about Wampler Triple Wreck Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

this pedal is a combination of distortion and overdrive effect; very responsive, definitely you could use this pedal to play rock, metal easily, no buzz at all, the boost option could provide sth. like flanger effect, to conclude, this is the effect more than enough with decent price!

Comments about Wampler Triple Wreck Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Great pedal, but not for me. Too fizzy. Lots of tweekability I prefer my amps distortion, and could actually buy a low powered tube amp for this kind of money. It sounds great, just not my cup of tea.

Comments about Wampler Triple Wreck Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

Wamplers Triple Wreck is an extremely versatile distortion pedal. I was able to get sounds from barely overdriven bluesy tones to over the top distortion that would work well in all types of the heaviest metal music. There's a lot of variation in that one box. Even the smallest tweaks of the knobs can bring huge differences in sounds and responsiveness of the pedal. I didn't keep the Triple Wreck though. Even though it has three tone knobs (low, mid, high) I couldn't get the midrange sound that I wanted out of the unit. I'm really picky about my midrange tone, because that's what cuts through the mix. I'm sure that the tonal problem I was having was because of all the other effects on my pedal board. But I didn't want to change them out to accommodate using one pedal. I'm a HUGE Wampler fan and run 5 of his other effects on my board because they give me the tone I want. I would recommend this pedal to anyone wanting a very versatile distortion that is able to be used in any type of music requiring distortion/overdrive.
