Don't Forget

Explore the sonic unknown with the Vexter Fuzz Probe.

The Vexter Fuzz Probe is a cross between a theremin and a ZVEX Fuzz Factory. There is an antenna (proximity plate) that projects a field of RF energy that is affected by your foot, altering the circuit that generates it and in so doing, controls the Stability (STAB) knob on the back of the pedal. This lets you select your favorite squealy Fuzz Factory setting. You can also mess around with the STAB knob with your foot creating melodies and interference modulations with your guitar.

Made in the U.S.A.

Not worth it!

About Me Experienced

Comments about ZVex Vexter Series Fuzz Probe Guitar Effects Pedal:

After first stumbling across this pedal I thought I had found the holy grail of all fuzz pedals. Not only was it a fuzz factory, but it was connected to a theremin?! What could be cooler, right?! Well... not quite. The day I first received this pedal I took it to a jam session and quickly realized that this beast was absolutely untamable, and utterly pointless for any sort of practical playing. I was under the impression that the Fuzz Factory could be used for fuzz tone and then the theremin would used to make squeels and screetches when it best suited you, but instead the theremin acts as if it is always 'on' creating a high pitch squeel (or low growl depending on the setting) out of your guitars signal when not being played. And I'm not talking about just feedback, I'm talking about screaming, screaching, and squeeling along with high pitch oscillation noises. The theremin controls these noises, but the sad fact is that you CANNOT REMOVE THEM OR ADD THEM AT WILL. This pedal cannot be used as a fuzz pedal. It is only useful to be switched on during a brief solo to make wacky noises, and in my opinion this is far to much money to pay for something like that, especially when the noises are low quality and untamable. Did I also mention that it picks up radio frequencies? I listened to a baseball game with it on through my amplifier the other day...

It's a good pedal if you're weird like me

Comments about ZVex Vexter Series Fuzz Probe Guitar Effects Pedal:

First off, I'd like to establish that the dude above me obviously didn't read the manual or tweak nearly enough to discover that if you turn the stab knob all the way to the left, it functions as a normal fuzz factory without the theremin. So if you want regular fuzz sounds, they are there.

Now as for the theremin setting, I'm a weird dude, so I like to use it. It can sound good on its own, but it sounds /really/ killing when stacked with other pedals like my dl4 or pog running after it. I'm particularly into sound design and weird music like Tim Hecker or ben frost, so I usually try to make noises that'll get me evicted, and the theremin does just the job. If you're playing dad-rock, this pedal probably isn't your thing, but try it out if you wanna get weird. Your band mates might hate it at first, but it'll change ur life, I promise.

    Notable bandmate comments include
"I can't believe you actually bought that probe."

"You know, about 10% of the noises coming out of that weren't that bad."

"You use one too many pedals"
