Sculpted SG profile with long-scale feel and independent pickup control.
For bassists drawn to the SG’s unmistakable double-cut profile but accustomed to a full 34" scale, the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson SG Bass combines a sculpted mahogany body with a set Medium C mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and 22 medium jumbo frets. A Sidewinder Bass pickup at the neck and Bass Mini Humbucker at the bridge provide two distinct humbucker formats, each with its own volume and tone control, while a three-position rotary switch handles pickup selection. A 3-point adjustable bridge, Graph Tech nut and open-frame clover-button tuners support routine setup and tuning, and the bass ships in a premium gig bag. Offered in Cherry and Ebony, the current SG Bass carries the model’s 1960s-rooted look into a familiar long-scale playing format.
Sculpted Mahogany Body Keeps the SG Compact and Comfortable
The SG Bass uses a solid mahogany body with the deeply sculpted double-cut contours that define the shape. Epiphone highlights those contours for comfort during longer playing sessions, while the compact body keeps the instrument close to the player whether seated or standing. Gloss Cherry and Ebony finishes present the same construction in two familiar visual directions, with black plastics and nickel hardware providing contrast across both versions.
Sidewinder and Mini Humbucker Offer Independent Control
The neck-position Sidewinder Bass pickup supplies one half of the electronics package, while a Bass Mini Humbucker at the bridge gives the opposite position its own pickup design. Each pickup has dedicated volume and tone controls with CTS potentiometers, allowing level and high-frequency response to be adjusted independently before the three-position rotary selector handles pickup selection. That layout gives players direct control over two distinctly configured humbucker positions rather than routing both pickups through a shared volume and tone circuit.
34" Scale and Medium C Neck Set the Full-Scale Feel
The glued-in mahogany neck pairs a Medium C profile with a full 34" scale, giving the SG Bass long-scale dimensions beneath its compact body. Epiphone associates that scale length with deeper bass response and a more robust overall voice, while the 12" rosewood fingerboard carries 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid trapezoid inlays. A Graph Tech nut and open-frame clover-button tuners complete a playing setup that blends current materials with vintage-style hardware cues.
Three-Point Bridge Supports Intonation and String-Height Adjustment
The nickel 3-point adjustable bass bridge provides separate adjustment for string height and individual intonation, giving the long-scale instrument the setup control expected from a working bass. Open-frame tuners with clover buttons and a Graph Tech nut complete the string path at the headstock, while Black Top Hat knobs with silver inserts provide the control treatment. Together, the hardware stays straightforward and adjustable while keeping the visual focus on the sculpted body and dual-pickup layout.
Long-Scale SG Character With Flexible Dual-Humbucker Control
The Inspired by Gibson SG Bass keeps the defining ingredients of Epiphone’s EB-style design—mahogany construction, sculpted double cuts and dual bass humbuckers—while the rosewood fingerboard and current hardware bring the specification up to date. Its full 34" scale and Medium C set neck make the playing dimensions familiar to long-scale bassists, and the independent pickup controls let the neck and bridge voices be tailored separately. For players who want the unmistakable SG silhouette with a conventional long-scale foundation and a more hands-on two-pickup circuit, the Epiphone SG Bass Guitar brings those elements together in a focused modern version.
