OVERVIEW

A beautifully constructed bass, complete with top-shelf appointments and capabilities.

The LTD RB-1004 electric bass rocks a swamp ash body, burled maple solid top, a thin U-shape maple/walnut neck, 34" scale and 22 extra-jumbo frets on a maple fingerboard. And an Aguilar AG 4J-HC bridge pickup & AG 4P-60 neck pickup push all your earth-rumbling notes down the signal path. A Gotoh bridge makes sure your notes have the maximum sustain imaginable, while the Grover tuners keep everything cinched down and in-tune through heavy crunches and string-stretching licks.

Comments about ESP LTD RB-1004 Electric Bass Guitar:

Retired now. Collecting a few fine instruments that makes me happy. This one does. Have a Fender Jazz Select, Two Hofner 500/1, Rickenbacker 4003 and more... but this LTD RD-1004 is a treasure. It sounds and plays as good as it looks. And that says a lot.

Comments about ESP LTD RB-1004 Electric Bass Guitar:

Purchased as a blem! saved 40%. Took it out of the box, very small smudge in the top between pickups. You really have to look to see it. Strings were a 1/2 inch off the neck at the 12th fret, whoever had it before me sent it back for that reason. Took it to my guitar tech, left it for a few days, he worked his magic and now it plays the way it should. ESP and M/F both were helpful but it was a blem. The small amount I paid to fix the neck, and get it set up was nothing compared to what I saved on the guitar. I noted flat sound in the comments. you have to play it out of an amp that will compliment it. If you play it through an older amp, it gets a flat sound. New amps have electronics to make it sail.

Comments about ESP LTD RB-1004 Electric Bass Guitar:

Disclaimer: The first bass Ive owned. That being said, Ive played guitar and own/owned many. I am musically trained but not a professional. I did what I consider extensive research on basses for a while before buying. I purchased this bass on sale. I can pretty much say finding it on sale at almost half price is why I pulled the trigger on this one right there and then. I am in no way the least bit sorry. I am not a trained guitar tech but I can take care of my own. This thing was darn near perfect right out of the box, from the nut to the saddles. No buzz, great action, great intonation, great clearances and fit. I bought the Honey Natural Burled Maple top. I was affraid to buy the Splated Maple for finish reasons. Maybe I assumed too much but the top on mine is the only minor complaint I have. There is slight swirling in the clearcoat finish but not noticeable unless you are truly inspecting the instrument. The neck, pickups, swamp ash body, bridge all relate nicely imo. I love the tone and it offeres plenty of variations with the active electronics. You can do muddy to brilliant and everything in between. It comes with D'Addario XL's and mine sound fine for now, not dead. I will switch them out for a set of Rotosound Swing when the time comes. It's very light weight and feels fsntastic to me. If you want a Fender buy a Fender. If you want an Ibanez buy an Ibanez. If you want a Schector buy that. Heaven help us if you want a Warwick or somethig like that, you are shopping in the wrong place. But if you want a very nice bass at a great price that plays, looks, and feels wonderful do your due diligence and give this one its proper consideration. You wont be sorry imo.

Comments about ESP LTD RB-1004 Electric Bass Guitar:

I was actually expecting some sort of disappointment somewhere, somehow for what I paid. We all tweak
our instruments when we get them home and this bass was unbelievably perfect out of the case! That was a first! Thanks Musicians Friend! Quality and tone are first rate; I've paid more for instruments in the past and actually received less bang for the buck than this RB1004! Fantastic! I grab it every spare moment I have to play, it's that nice and feels that right. Love the Aguilar P-J pick-ups! I finally got "that" sound in my head after all these years!

Comments about ESP LTD RB-1004 Electric Bass Guitar:

Bass has a buttery smooth neck with good electronics and hardware. Body had some barely noticeable runs in the finish near the edges, but at nearly half off MSRP this bass is steal.
