OVERVIEW

A great bass at an even better price point with high caliber features and playability.

For 25 years the SR has given bass players a modern alternative. As its popularity has expanded, the iconic series continues to excite with its smooth, fast neck, lightweight body and perfectly matched electronics.

The SR650 is a handsome 4-string bass designed with the working musician in mind. At the heart of this bass is an Ash body, chosen for its bright, articulate tone and long sustain. The SR650 sports a 5-pc Jatoba/Bubinga SR4 neck and a Rosewood fretboard, embedded with elegant Abalone oval inlays. An Accu-cast B300 bridge provides excellent string vibration transfer and precise intonation.

For electronics, the SR650 features Nordstrand CND pickups in a classic P/J combination, a versatile setup almost indispensable for the working musician. Specifically designed for Ibanez, these passive pickups deliver a very present tone that easily punches through any mix. Equalization controls include a 3-band Active EQ with a bypass switch for precise tone management.

Comments about Ibanez SR650 4-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I own 6 basses, including this one. One is a $3500 semi-custom bass and this bass plays just as well, if not better. I had to adjust the intonation and the string height when I receive my new Ibanez today as is typical of all new basses in this price range, The action is the lowest of all my basses. It is very easy and fun to play. The tone is exceptional. The P pickups have a very deep and full tone and the J pickup is bright and crisp. Both pickups are very clean and the tone controls allow a lot of tone shaping.
I'd recommend this bass to anyone looking for a REALLY good bass at a VERY reasonable price.

Comments about Ibanez SR650 4-String Electric Bass Guitar:

The SR650 has the same physical feel as an SR500 but with a better finish and a more versatile sound. The ash body gives it brighter highs and the satin brown burst finish is not easily scratched or chipped by picks/fingernails the way the brown mahogany SR500 is. The custom designed Nordstrand P/J pickups and true active passive switch (yep, passive mode words without the battery) give it incredible tonal flexibility and will have you gleefully tone tweaking for hours. The passive sounds alone give you another world of tone and there is no volume drop when switching. So if you love the way Ibanez basses play and feel (fast, thin neck, small contoured body), but play a variety of styles and don't like to switch instruments, this is the bass for you. Ibanez and Nordstrand really got it right with this one - well worth it over the SR500 and due to the electronics, a competitor for SR premiums as well. Note: as with all Ibanez SR basses, it comes out of the box with Elixir nanoweb nickel wound strings that are smooth as butter, but still plenty bright. I still have the factory strings on a month after I got it and they are still perfect (4+ hours/day of play).

      Just What I Wanted...for now!

Comments about Ibanez SR650 4-String Electric Bass Guitar:

First off, I'm fairly a noob to playing bass. But I know enough to know that Ibanez makes some great bang-for-the-buck basses, especially the Soundgear series if you like thin, fast necks. I've been playing for two years now, using a used good-sounding-but-awful-looking SR500. This is the little brother to the SR650 that is a muddy brown color with decent Bartolini MK-1 pickups, but with an extremely fragile finish that seems to come off just by looking at it. So I decided, having so much fun playing bass, that I wanted to upgrade to something different, but still have that Ibanez sound and feel. And that is where this SR650 shines. Sure, it looks good in the Antique Brown Stain, but what I really care about is versatility of sound and playability of the neck. With the Norstrand pickups having the option of passive/active, this bass has a LOT of options for sound. Anything I want out of it, it can do. And after just a minimal string height adjustment out of the box, the neck is perfect -- low action with no buzzing anywhere. I didn't have to adjust neck relief or intonation at all. So this SR650 fits my needs and wants...for now. I know that at some point I will want a top-of-the-line Ibanez Premium (>SR1000 or so), but for now this SR650 is a nice upgrade to my SR500 and was even sweeter given that I found a great deal on an open box.

purchase this item pug in the cable and found out I had a short at first I check the cable found out it was ok then I found the problem it was in the pug end of the bass guitar. to say the lest I was not happy I had to ship it back to musicians friend.
