A Vintage Reissue of the most coveted Kay model.

The Jazz Special Bass has a long scale semi-hollow body and features a single coil pickup, rosewood bridge and fingerboard. The Jazz Special Bass has been the most coveted Kay Model by collectors and is very rare. It was featured on the cover of McCartney's 45-rpm single "Jet" and again in the video "Ebony and Ivory" and was the bass used the band, The Sufaris", in the '60s to record the hit "Wipeout". This edition was developed and created by known luthier Roger Fritz.

Known for its subsonic low end and slim neck as well as its woody tone, the hollow body construction and exclusive bracing system make this bass ideal for live and studio use. The luncheonette countertop pickguard combined with the Kel-von-a-tor headstock gives the Jazz Special bass its avant-garde appeal.

The Kay Guitar Company has always been the major producer of guitars since 1890. Most players may not know that, in 1928, Kay was the first company to start production of electric guitars in the USA. From 1952 through 1964, The Kay Guitar Company excelled at producing quality professional electric guitars with unique designs and features. Includes case.

Comments about Kay Vintage Reissue Guitars Jazz Special Electric Bass Guitar:

This is a great looking guitar. When you open the beautiful case, people will ohh and ahh. Until you play it. The frets are jagged. The unmovable bridge makes it impossible to intonate. The intonation goes out around the 10th fret on mine. In order to fix the problem, the bridge would have to be removed, holes filled, new ones drilled ect. Not worth it. If you are looking for a bass to play in front of people, this is not it. If you're looking for really pretty bass inspired wall art for your studio or home, this is perfect.

Comments about Kay Vintage Reissue Guitars Jazz Special Electric Bass Guitar:

The Kay Jazz Special Bass Re-Issue K5970V is a good looking guitar and has a really woody sound (like stand-up.) I bought the Blond finish bass and if i had tried it first, probably would have passed on it (bought online). The bottom of the frets are jagged and could shred finger tips. and it has a serious neck-diving problem. Who wants to hold up the neck of a bass for hours??
Compared to Fender USA, Rickenbacker, Gretsch, and even Jack Casady Epiphone basses, it comes in dead last!! I would say, try it before you buy it. It looks pretty hanging on the wall tho.
