Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

Schecter have really stepped their game up the last few years. The quality of instruments that they're putting out at these reasonable prices is enough to blow your mind. The Schecter Omen 5 string is a perfect example of that quality. This is probably one of the most comfortable basses I've ever played. I've tried out many Jazz and P basses, a few Ibanezs, and a few Epiphone Thunderbirds, and the Omen just blows them out of the water.Everything on the bass feels very solid, whether it's the six massive bolts holding the neck on or the monstrous bridge, everything feels very well made. The active two band EQ is very versatile, capable of producing everything from fat, round pillowy basslines to biting, twangy guitar-esque tone in the high range. The active EQ and stock Schecter active pickups sound great, and with a little tweaking can produce a variety of good bass tones. The stock pickups also do a great job of keeping the low B string from getting muddy, it rumbles the floor yet still retains it's clarity and definition. The neck is a really great combination of several neck designs, it's got enough wood for you to be able to really dig into slaps or groove licks, but it's thin enough to not feel like you're playing a baseball bat. The balance of the instrument is spot on, as well, it's neither body nor neck heavy, and sits very well with a strap.Mine came with the walnut satin finish, and the pictures don't do the finish any justice. It's such a warm, dark shade of satin red with the wood grain showing through beautifully.Overall, this is an extremely satisfying bass. Very versatile, extremely comfortable to play and light on your wallet. Schecter really know what they're doing, and the Omen 5 string

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

This was my first 5 string electric bass, I bought it to see if I would like a 5 string and it was pretty cheap. I was absolutely blown away by this instrument. It has great sound, action, and feel. My only complaint was that it wasn't a neck-thru but at this price point that is not really even a complaint. I have since moved up to a Stiletto Studio 5 but still use this monster weekly!!

all I could have asked for

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I started playing on a sqier strat, but I felt compelled to upgrade. I did my research and found the Omen 5 string. for the money, you couldn't ask for much more. Great tone, the flexability of two pick-ups, and very solid construction. I've beat mine up so much, and it keeps thundering. The low B string is definately one of my favorite feature, and now I wont play anything but a five string. I would definately recomend this bass to anyone looking for a very good bass on a budget.

Love It!!

By Steven Cole

from Republic, Washington

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

A great bass! I've played bass actively since I was 14, I'm now 44 and it's still all about the Rock & Roll... I've been a dedicated Ibanez fan since I spent all summer pulling weeds to save up enough money to get the now classic '79 Roadster Deluxe new off the hook. Since then I've had a few other killer basses, but not until I picked up my Omen-5 did I really get that same feeling of solidness (is that a word?). It looks great! On stage, the black gloss reflects the lights and action back to the audience. Keep it polished (I always have a rag with me) and you'll get nothing but extreme compliments on it. The only problem that I have with the sound is that since I've played it, I'm no longer happy with any of my other basses! Including my Roadster!! The tones ring out clear and clean from rich deep tones to very clear high tones. The action seemed a bit high at first, but I got used to it and I can't believe how well it jams. The only actual problem that get's on my nerve a little is that the output plug is a little lower than necessary and when I wrap my cord through my strap and plug it in, the cord tends to have to pull across more of the bottom of the bass than I'd like it to. Does that make sense?? I'm a lead bass player and have been told that my style is bold and inventive. This bass fits right in. For the money spent, this bass is well worth every penny and then some!

A Good Omen

By Daniel Lashinsky

from Greenville, PA

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I have owned numerous basses over the years and have been looking for a long time for the right bass that fits my playing style, but none seemed to measure up to my expectations. When my Ibanez finally started pushing up daisies with my Fender not far behind pick out their coffins and my other bass digging the 6 foot plunge, I finally decided to bite the bullet and buy a new bass. In looking over the reviews, and reading up on the company history, I was impressed by what I saw so I crossed my fingers and purchased this beast. This is by far the best bass I have ever owned. And I can say with complete certainty that my next bass will definitely be a Schecter (with a neck-thru-body, of course)!!!

Kick a**

By Jeff in Winter

from Denver

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I have been extremely impressed with this bass. The tone is nice and thick, but cuts through very well on the high end when I need it to. The only downside is that I've had to re-program all of the effects in my effects processor, because this bass puts out SO MUCH SOUND that it was completely overpowering and distorting all of my effects. I have never played a bass that has power like this one. I just wish the black finish came with black hardware instead of chrome. Oh well, considering the performance, I can live with that.

KILLER BASS

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

This bass delivers everything you could ask for. It's rediculous that the price is this low. I will tell you that you should get a good amp, because the low B on this monster is super demanding.

Great Starter/Intermediate Bass

By The Parasprinter-KUuJn

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I'm relatively new to the bass, and this was my first one. It came well set up to begin with, but I opted to go with much heavier strings, so for a year or so, the instrument was subject to a lot of trial and error on my part in order to get all the adjustments right. But it stood up to everything, and now it has a deep, full tone that has garnered compliments from bassists much more experienced than myself. The only noticeable problem is that one of the two tone knobs produces a slight hissing sound when turned all the way up. Not sure if that's a problem with the electronics or the pickups. Overall, very sturdy, great sound, very nice looking.

A Good Start

By MonoLith

from Crestview, FL

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I got this bass last Christmas and I have to say I?m impressed. At such an affordable price, you can't beat the quality of the omen 5. The strings that come with it our very durable and can last a long time! The strings are also comfortable and close to the fret board so it?s pretty easy to pick up and play. The tone options are great and can add a lot of varieties to any style you choose...I only have one complaint: even with all the potions you have for tone, I can?t seem to find a great sound for slapping. All in all though, it?s a fantastic bass to start with if you're a beginner.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

This bass is everything that I need. It gives the low-end that is great for heavier music, and the complete high-end for funk and jazz. It has tremendous power I've yet to find a cabinet that I can't distort.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I was under executive order to purchase a solid body bass (no one digs semi accoustics) so I purchased a diamond series omen 5. the tonal range are great and 24 frets make for excellent mobility. I use it extensively in the studio but use it as backup on tour because of the weight.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I've been playing this bass for a week. I started with the C-5 and sent it back and got this and I'm extremely happy I did. I like the omen so much more. It's great playing the electronics are just as nice and its a straight forward no frills look that I love the walnut satin finish is cool. I would highly recomend this to anyony interested in a schecter. I love it though I gave the features only a 4 because it only has a 2 band eq not a 3, but I can live with that.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass at a local shop and haven't looked back. This is a wicked sounding bass and it comes with elixir strings! If you play without an amp there is some string rattling but who wants to play without an amp? If your looking for a metal or funk bass you have found it.

Definitely worth the money!

By geddyleeisgood

from san diego, CA

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Omen-5 5-String Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass around christmas time, and i have not been disappointed in any way. I can get any sound i want from it. I can get crisp harmonics like jaco, or deep metal tones. The pickups are overall amazing. I have been playing bass for aabout 3 years, and i honestly cant find a 5 string i like to play more. The action is PERFECT,i am yet to find a single fret that has a buzz to it. I play through an Ashdown Electric Blue 180 and it cranks. The walnut satin finish is basic, but it is awesome and i've gotten plenty of compliments on it by people who know nothing about guitars or basses. Trust me, you can't go wrong with this bass. If you dont decide on this bass, i would still recommend a schecter; i've never played a bad schecter. NOTE: i recieved my bass off of ebay, and it had a slight blemish which made it about 100 dollars cheaper. I still think this bass is WELL worth the money however. It also came set up professionally by schecter, so that could be why the action on mine is perfect.
