I'm basicly a guitar player although throughout my years of playing I've done the bass thing too. I was wanting a bass to play at home and, have fun with but, my son is a bass player and, I figured he may enjoy playing it to. The P Bass has always been my favorite and, this one is no exception. I like the race red color but, I always like red. The extra pickup is a nice touch really adds versatality to sound of the instrument. The value in this bass is really surprising, I'm really enjoying it. I'm not a really a fan of Squier instruments but, I do have a couple of vintage modified guitars Jaguar and, Jazzmaster and, I must admit they are excellent! If you're looking for a bass at Great price check this one out. Honestly if it didn't say Squier on the headstock you couldn't tell it from a top end Fender. The Musicians Gear molded case is a perfect fit.

Its great for the price if you are a begginer, school band or to try out bass playing.I read a lot of reviews saying it was great but if are willing to upgrade pickups ands strings go for it. But if you change the pickups, string and get it set you will spend double of the tag price more or less at least without labor, with a bit more you get a nicer one.Its up to how much you can or want to spend. But if i knew i would rather spend a bit more on one that doesnt need pick ups replacement.Hope this helps

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ Rosewood Fingerboard:

I read a lot of reviews on this product before deciding to buy. I own several Squier basses and had great success with them. I normally hot rod them, customize them and just see how far I can take them; they never let me down. I thought I'd go ahead and get this one because of the PJ set up and when I took it out of the box I was immediately struck with how solid this bass felt. So far all I've done to it is add strap-locks and a Hipshot Extender. As it is; this baby is going right into my starting rotation. I saw one review where someone said "I'd play it out, but I'm not a professional bassist", well sir, I am a professional - and I'm playing it out!

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ Rosewood Fingerboard:

Ok, It's not a made in America model. Maybe the pickups arent the best. But this is as nice of an instrument I have ever owned or played. Neck, fretwork, setup, body, is all as good as any costing thousands more. Pickups can be changed if you wish. Also the bridge and strings. Get some confidence in yourself and your playing and get a Squier. You won't play any better on an Alembic. Waste your money on an expensive bass if you are worried what your friends will say. Play your butt off on a reasonably priced, well made instrument, and show the guys who is smart. I've been playing since 1963.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ Rosewood Fingerboard:

Quality for the price range should really be 10 stars! This bass amazes me for its modest price. Nice finish and feel. I bought it with the intention of putting a fretless neck on it and doing some other modifications, but I'm very tempted to keep it as is. I was ready to do some set-up on it, but I didn't find that necessary. The neck is surprisingly straight and playable for an instrument in this range--evidence that it takes a Fender company to make the best Fender "copies." Of course, the strings it shipped with are horrible. I've switched them for some D'Addario half rounds, and the sound is very satisfying--especially having both the P and J pickups for a little variety. Run through a compressor, it can kick out some serious sound. No, it's not a Fender Custom Shop instrument, but for the price, it's pretty amazing! I've been playing for over 35 years. I don't really care what the peg head says, as long as the instrument works for me, and this one is going to work very well...with or without a new neck.

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ Rosewood Fingerboard:

Been playing a few years and have more expensive, nicer basses. Bought this as a backup/beater and am knocked out by the quality, easily matches the CV Squier series. Pickups sound great, could use some shielding but the hum is really not too bad and goes away with 1/3 turn of the tone knob. Nice smooth pots on the electronics with good range of volume and tone. Put some threaded saddles on to get proper alignment of the strings thru the pole pieces. Could use some new tuners down the line but these hold tune well, not the smoothest turning though. The body finish on mine (white) is flawless, nice tight neck pocket. The neck is very nice, no skunk stripe, pretty rosewood fingerboard which I oiled with some bore oil since it looked kinda dry, (nice touch on the pearl dot markers too!). I can get a really low action, like 3/32 on the low E with no buzz. The frets are good, they don't stick out at all, maybe a little sharp on some but nothing uncomfortable. All in all, this thing is a no brainer for a backup or just a darn good bass to be had for little scratch, pull the trigger!

Comments about Squier Affinity Series Precision Bass PJ Rosewood Fingerboard:

I purchased the black finish. I am definitely shocked. Affinity has done it with this one. I mean this with all sincerity, this bass is a STEAL. The neck/body is definitely a P-Bass, the head stock also says its P-Bass. You get the addition of the J-bass bridge pick up which gives added flexibility tone-wise. When both picks ups are turned up it has this great punchy sound. Tone is outstanding. Each pick up alone sounds great too. The Bass arrived well packed. The only thing I needed to do was tighten the Tone knob a bit with the Allen wrench (which is provided in the box). I like this bass better than my Fender MIM Jazz 5-string. The build quality/fret work is actually very good and the finish is very nice. I checked all frets / strings, zero fret buzz. Action is nice and low out of the box. I am really happy with this bass, and I would buy another one in a second. Get them while you can. If you don't, I will ;)

I have the Fender Deluxe Jazz and The American Standard Jazz and this little baby gives them a run for the money. It has great highs and punchy lows. You may have to adjust the action and change the strings. That's about it. Buy this puppy, you won't regret it. I use it for a Motown and Funk band. I still can't believe the price. Good luck.

I just can't believe that any company can offer a bass with these features at this price point! The strength of this instrument is the materials used and its tonal versatility. I was looking for a budget precision bass when I stumbled upon this one. You can solo the neck pickup as much as you want but when the song comes up the requires a contemporary bass tone you've got the bridge pickup to bring to bear. Honestly this bass seems too good to be true but it's no joke.

This bass is without a doubt one of the best of its kind no matter the name or price. It's built tight and solid, has decent tone, resonant, good electronics, good tuners that hold tune, just throw some vintage wired pickups in it with alnico V magnets,an orange cap and the overall sound will be excellent. There isn't a better value on the market! The neck is fast and comfortable..no baseball bat here! Good fret job, beautiful rosewood, body is nothing short of perfect, neck pocket, fit & finish.Good bridge, love the metal knobs, would recommend a Switchcraft Jack for long use down the road. All in all this bass is an Aerodyne without the label. Couldn't get much better! Buy One if you are even thinking about it, you won't be disappointed.

I purchased a bass guitar from Musician's Friend for my son. He says he's very satisfied with the sound and quality, enjoys playing it very much. It arrived in great condition and in good time. I was able to buy it at a good price. What's not to love?

I needed a back up bass just for the security but also one that I wanted to play.I found it.The two pickups instead of just one split one makes it closer to the same sound as my jazz bass. All in all it's the bass I've wanted in look and sound.

I bought this bass because I wanted a Precision bass with a Jazz or something close to a Jazz neck. Although the neck does seem to bee slimmer it does not measure 1-1/2' at the nut. It's 1-5/8" just like a precision bass. But the neck is smaller than a standard precision and plays very well.

I've used this about everyday for the last two years, it's the only bass I have. It feels good not uncomfortable at all. I've had to adjust the truss rod and saddles a few times but not a big deal. The biggest problem is the pickups and electronics. The jazz pickup in mine doesn't work anymore and just about six months ago I got the electronics fixed up. Also there is a bit of buzz and increases when the tone is turned up, not a big deal but kind of annoying. I think I'm gonna replace the pickups with the emg gzr pickups

I owned a Fender P bass 20+ years ago with a jazz neck, which I had custom built. I can say firsthand that this bass is every bit the quality of the Fender, if not better. While this particular bass has a Precision neck, I love the pickup configuration here with split Precision single coil and Jazz single coil. This bass give you the best of both Fender worlds, Jazz punch and warm Precision sound. Yes, you'll get the typical 60 cycle pickup hum from the Jazz pickup, but I have no problems with this since I run my setup with pedals, particularly a Behringer noise reduction pedal and the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Bass Pi Distortion Effects Pedal. Dial up noise suppression on the Behringer, and engage both Crossover and Bypass and set the noise gate on the Electro-Harmonix Pi; noise problem solved. Total silence. Bass plays great and quality made. Great guitar, good pickups. No need to pay hundreds of $$s more simply for the "Fender" logo on the headstock. This is essentially a Fender bass at a great price. Highly recommended for players at any level.

The power in this bad boy is, as they say on Facebook, "jaw dropping." I've played and owned a lot of basses over the past 52 years. and this might just be the best yet. Certainly the last bass I'll need - this year. I'm retired and have a guitar buying sickness - I mean "hobby".

I play guitar and use a fretless Jazz bass. Wanted to try a fretted without spending too much. Bought this p-bass and the Jaguar bass (which has the active tone controls). Same pickup configuration but this p-bass just sounded better with more sustain and just more solid. The Jaguar is also great, I just prefer this p-bass. The rosewood fingerboard is twice the thickness, maybe that affects the tone? Super impressed! I would definitely recommend this above any other starter bass. (I've tried others) Price to quality ratio is amazing! Got this as a "blemished" condition sale. Again, I am very happy with this bass!
