VH1 sent ballots to over 700 musicians, songwriters, disc jockeys and radio programmers and asked them to vote on the 100 greatest songs of rock and roll. Songs are arranged by their ranking with artists listed, and include: All Along the Watchtower; American Pie; Blowin' in the Wind; Born to Run; California Dreamin'; Fire and Rain; Good Vibrations; Hey Jude; Hotel California; I Heard It Through the Grapevine; Imagine; In the Midnight Hour; Jump; Layla; Light My Fire; Like a Rolling Stone; London Calling; Louie, Louie; Maggie May; My Generation; No Woman No Cry; Proud Mary; Respect; Roxanne; Smells like Teen Spirit; Stand by Me; Start Me Up; Tangled Up in Blue; Walk This Way; We Are the Champions; Wild Thing; Yesterday; and more.

Comments about Hal Leonard VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Rock & Roll Easy Guitar Tab Songbook:
A pretty good book if you want to learn the oldies. I was disappointed that the Rolling Stones, The Who and led Zeppelin are all omitted due to licensing restrictions. But other than that there are a lot of good songs to learn.
Missing songs due to licensing restrictions.
Anything written by Hal Leonard is pretty exceptional.
A lot of tablature for just over twenty bucks.
Comments about Hal Leonard VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Rock & Roll Easy Guitar Tab Songbook:
Pros: tabs, notes, the works, and they are easier to play than I imagined. Considering many books are 10-15$ for 8 or 9 songs, this book is a deal. Cons: Title is misleading "100 greatest songs" is preceded by much smaller print "selections from" Instead of 100, there are 88 songs 3-4 each from Led Zep, Stones, plus a few others are in the listing of 100, but were not tabbed because of "licensing issues"For the more experienced, solos are not tabbed. No CD for play-along.But thats minor, the 88 listed will keep me occupied for quite a while :)
