OVERVIEW

A glorious first euphonium.

The Allora AAEU-204 Series 4-Valve Euphonium is designed to meet the needs of the intermediate player looking for an affordable 4-valve instrument. The AAEU-204 is a non-compensating instrument that features 4 top-action, nickel piston valves with smooth action plus a gold brass leadpipe for proper note placement.

Allora instruments are consistent across the line for their excellent value. They are well-made, reliable, easy blowing and good-sounding across both the brass and woodwind selection. Pride of ownership is a critical component of a young student's band experience, and the Allora line are handsome, yet affordable. Whereas you might get advice to buy a used intermediate horn for a student, especially with larger brass instruments like euphoniums, they are often dented and banged up, with peeling lacquer and noisy valves.

A student can't necessarily realize the advantages of intermediate and professional instruments at that stage of the game, and so a nice, new horn that plays well and is reliable may be a better decision in the long run. The student will feel good about owning the instrument and be more inclined to practice it.

Comments about Allora AAEU-204 Series 4-Valve Euphonium:

Before it arrived, I was a little nervous about the quality of this instrment since its not one of the big name brands, but I have to say I am impressed. It compares very well to brand-name euphoniums but at a fraction of the price. The fit and finish is excellent, the valves are tight and smooth, the tone is warm and full. It slots well. I really like the large bore and how much air I can push through this horn. It reminds me of much more expensive horns I played some years ago. Even the case is quite strong while still being light. My case even came with wheels on it.

Comments about Allora AAEU-204 Series 4-Valve Euphonium:

I purchased this instrument for my high school age grandson. He has played the Euphonium for several years but didn't have his own. I had our local community band leader, who was also a HS band teacher, review the ad on this instrument before purchase. Here are his comments: The Allora appears to be a good horn, probably a competitive horn with the Selmer Accent models. Price seems to be very competitive for this level instrument. This model is "non-compensating" (does not compensate for intonation of notes below the staff) but this is not a serious issue. Intonation can usually be adjusted with 4th valve tuning slide. Looks like an excellent value on a good instrument. Warranty policy seems to be good."
My grandson LOVED it! Loved the case with wheels, loved the sound, loved the cloth protection in the case and played it the rest of the night! I can't say enough about what a great purchase this has been, including the follow up phone call! Good job, Musician's Friend!
