OVERVIEW

Fun and easy to play.

This Native American-style flute features 6 comfortably positioned holes and each instrument is individually voiced to produce excellent tone with precise intonation.

Its simple, yet elegant design allows you to very quickly create beautiful sounds and overtones in either the pentatonic modes of C major (Mode 1) or relative A minor (Mode 5).

Simply cover hole 3 and the remaining 5 holes provide pentatonic modes 1 and 5. By using the pentatonic scale, most people can start playing simple songs in minutes. Yet, this great little instrument is also capable of playing a full chromatic octave in C major, so the musical possibilities are quite extensive. Includes 24-page booklet and instructional CD.

FEATURES
  • 6-hole ABS plastic flute with adjustable snap-on tone clip
  • Can play pentatonic C and A minor scale as well as chromatic C scale
  • 24-page booklet and companion CD covers the flute's origins and myths plus playing instructions

Explore the beautiful sounds you can make with this versatile and easy-to-play instrument.

I have purchased thirteen flutes. Some through eBay, several that were custom made for me and some were from well known NAF makers. I like all the flutes that I've bought. I had positive experiences with all these flute purchases. My problems have been with these wooden flutes wetting out after ten or fifteen minutes and the wood's sensitivity to climate change. My problems have ended since I purchased three different "Sounds We Make native American Flutes." I was getting very discouraged with the wetting out and climate sensitivity of the wooden flutes. Then, I bought these ABS flutes. These flutes are so easy to blow. If you close your eyes and just listen to the flute's calming sound, you would absolutely think the sound is coming from a traditional NAF made from wood. It's tuned perfectly and it?s a pleasure to play. The sound connects to the soul and I just love playing these flutes. My flute sessions have gone from fifteen minutes to an hour or two, using just one of these ABS flutes. I can continuously play the same flute as long as I would like to and I don?t have to worry about the flute wetting out. As a mother, I think it would be great if every elementary, middle school and high school offered lessons using this ABS flute instead of the recorder. The instructional pamphlet and CD makes it possible for anyone and everyone to play this top quality flute at an affordable price that is consistently reliable. If anyone is as frustrated with the wetting out and the climate sensitivity as I was, then my suggestion is get one of these flutes. There are so many advantages to playing this flute; I find this is the only flute that I play.

sounds great and worry free

By Theresa Quinton

Comments about Sounds We Make Native American-Style Flute:

I have a hand carved flute that is beautiful but I play this more. I'm not afraid to carry it with me when we travel. It is very sturdy. I love the clip which looks nice and doesn't catch on items in my travel bag. To my ears, it sounds the same as my expensive flute. I would recommend this flute to anyone...beginner and experienced alike. I have no problems with it. I'm glad it's made out of a safer plastic resin and not PVC. Because of this, I bought 3 more of them for my young relatives for birthdays and Christmas. The price is the best on the internet. What a nice and educational gift...the gift of music. The only request I have for the manufacturer is to offer this in black...I think it would look very progressive and cool. Thankyou to the inventor for making a costly instrument available for all with your great design and materials.

The N A Flute - Evolved!

By PeaceBeats

from Warwick, RI

Comments about Sounds We Make Native American-Style Flute:

I have two of these very high quality, modern ABS flutes from Sounds We Make Native American Flutes, one in A and one in D. Right out of the box they play using less air to blow than some of my $110 Cedar or Cherry flutes! Finally, I can play for an hour or more without any wetting or time-wasting cleaning. I've been waiting for a well made, high quality ABS NA Flute that I can play during my limited rehearsal time, instead of doing constant maintenance on it! This IS the BEST engineered NA Flute on the market. It also happens to be the best value. Of the 15 flutes I own, even though it doesn't have a little bear on it, it is my favorite! Best engineered. Best playing. Always works. Inexpensive. Show me a wooden flute you can say all that about. You can't, because this ABS flute is simply better. This is a Native American Flute. If not, It's what a Native American Flute SHOULD be.

the best cheap flute

Comments about Sounds We Make Native American-Style Flute:

this thing is soo easy to play.. I wish it had a more narrow mouth piece but thats ok.. pick one up, only 20 bucks, I am not sure how you can be dissapointed at that price..
its plastic, easy to play, resistant to breaking, cracks ect. at first sight I thought this thing sucked but once I played it I was happy. [retty decent sounds come out of this thing.
its plastic, nothing else to really say, you can decorate it how you want to.
Its 20 bucks for a plastic flute you can take camping with no case, take it to the beach, drag it around, convert it into a blowgun for fishing... lol..

Amazing Instrument

See all my reviews

Comments about Sounds We Make Native American-Style Flute:

This flute is really an exceptional product. If you have even a remote interest in this flute you should get it. Why? 1. Very easy for a beginning player to start making cool sounding music even if you do not play anything wind related. 2. Allows you the ability to add nuances and articulations so even skilled players will find it worthwhile. 3. Great sound for any price. Have played expensive hand made NA flutes and this one actually manages to compete with them. 4. Ease of playability is very nice, the holes are small and not far apart so there is no strain on the hand. 5. Intonation is good enough for ensemble contexts. The one I got though, is in Ab Minor pentatonic not A Minor Pentatonic. Some notes are more difficult to get in tune, although they get easy as you get more of a feel for them. 6. very chill and relaxing instrument for kicking back as well as for "shredding". 7. Very Durable, can be knocked around. 8. Price 9. You can decorate it however badass you want. 10. I actually like it enough to have written this much in a review for it. Ive recorded it as well and have been able to make it sound extremely legit especially after optimizing the sound. It plays Minor pentatonic, Mixolydian, Phrygian Major, Gypsy Major, and Dorian scales very nicely. Possible (I've found so far) notes Are A, C, C#, D, E, F, F#, G, G#, a, a#, b , c, c#. Theres probably more than this. Minimal breathe needed, I can play for a minute straight nice and steady. Vibratos can be manipulated rather dramatically and expressively. Sounds like the movies, you would fit in playing this thing in the woods while camping and hunting. Bottom Line, Get it Since you are checking it out and thus must have all the interest you need to really enjoy this instrument. Easy, Cheap, Expressive, And Impressive

Great little flute

By MonoLoco

from Conecticut

Comments about Sounds We Make Native American-Style Flute:

Nicer, clearer voice than 4 different makes of PVC Native American "STYLE" flutes I tried. Small hole is atypical, so I cover it and it plays like a standard 5-hole NAF. No worries about cold weather, etc. I really love mine - better than some $80 wood flutes I have. Not just for beginners. Keep the clip-on saddle positioned properly, and don't over-blow ... it'll sound better than you'd expect!

Simple to learn with a distinct sound

By Inky

from St. Louis

See all my reviews

Comments about Sounds We Make Native American-Style Flute:

This instrument is one of the easiest to learn and most fun to play that I've found. While it is made of PVC rather than the traditional wood, the distinctive sound is still present. The flute has a range including A bellow middle C and a chromatic scale starting at middle C to one octave above middle C. Documentation that comes with the flute includes instructions how to play, music for a variety of songs, and maintenance instructions. I highly recommend the Sounds We Make Native American Flute for both inexperienced musicians as well as experienced musicians looking for a unique instrument.

This Native American flute I bought off of Musician's Friends is honesty the best decision I have ever made. It may not be made of real wood like most Native Indian Flute are but it plays and sound just like one. Personally, I am part Native Indian Sencea Senimal Tribe and my family loves Native Americans music and flute sounds. Every holiday my family and I go to the Native Americans resorts which are located in New York and watch Native Indians preform their greatest talents rather it's rain dancing or with instruments such as flutes.

Comments about Sounds We Make Native American-Style Flute:

This flute is good for children/beginners. Because it's plastic, you can drop it or play with it outside without having to worry about damaging it too much. It actually has a pretty decent tone for a piece of plastic. The sound is more clear and consice compared to other plastic and toy flutes. However, for the same price, you can find nicer native american flutes made of Cedar wood on ebay. Note, this flute is made of a cheap plastic and looks and feels like a toy. However, like I said before, it's good for kids that abuse and don't take good care of their toys.

              from GA

Comments about Sounds We Make Native American-Style Flute:

This is not a Native American Flute. This is a piece of PVC pipe with holes cut into it. A Native American Flute, a good one, is simple to play and requires little effort. This is neither and should not be sold advertised as a NAF at all. If you want a good beginners flute, then please buy a real one from Stellar Flutes or any of the many other fine flute makers out there.

I decided to start playing a Native Ameeican Flute recently, but most flutes that I found were very expensive. I did not want to spend alot of money on a flute that I may or may not be able to learn /enjoy. I am so glad I found this flute. It has a great sound and it is easy to play. The instructions are good, but I like to let nature give me my notes. It is easy to play in the oentatonic scale. It os durable for hiking /camping. Trust me, the guitar guy is always at the campground or the park, but if your playing a Native American Flute you will be the coolest cat there.
