Comments about Alesis Crimson II 5-Piece Electronic Drum Kit:

Play out, at home and jam with other musicians. Great value for the money. Can add additional Tom and cymbal. I suggest buy a good floor pedal and throne, you will never want to get off this kit!

Comments about Alesis Crimson II 5-Piece Electronic Drum Kit:

First off the drums and heads are excellent, super-responsive, with both a physical sensitivity dial on each as well as numerous tweaking options via the module (threshold, curve, sens., relative volume, pan, etc.). The included module kits are very good, I especially like the fact that it includes the 808 and 909 synth kits. The Jazz kit is also great. The ability to practice along with the pre-programmed songs, drum loops, and metronome, are great features. It really shows me where my timing is lacking. With sensitivity increased a bit, the snare picks up all ghost notes and even a progressive buzz roll, very impressive. The hi-hat can even do splash sounds. I connected my Midisport to my laptop and (with ASIO4ALL) got 7ms latency without a sound card (on-motherboard Intel-based laptop), set up EZDrummer and off to the races! Finally, mesh kick drum is awesome; I'm using it with my chain-drive acoustic pedal and it's perfect.

Comments about Alesis Crimson II 5-Piece Electronic Drum Kit:

I Bought this after doing a lot of research online. I watched a lot of reviews on YouTube. I wanted to buy the strike kit but it was just out of my price range. I was split between the Crimson and the Roland td11k. The td11k is an old kit on the market and will soon be replaced. The crimson is relatively new aside from the brain which is shared with the Alesis forge kit. I love how big the pads are and how well made everything feels. My only worry is the cymbals as I feel like they will be the first to go. The big ride is amazing and plays just like the real thing.

Comments about Alesis Crimson II 5-Piece Electronic Drum Kit:

I'd give this kit a 5-star rating if you could just buy the module/brain and rack. The triggers are absolutely terrible and don't stand up to any sort of professional use. After only 2 gigs, 3 of the drum triggers (two toms and snare) because almost completely unresponsive. Even after adjusting each one's volume to max, you can BARELY hear any of the sounds being triggered, no matter how hard or where you hit the drum. I was able to repair one of the toms by replacing the internal piezo switch (5 bones online) but was not able to repair either of the other two. Save yourself the headache and get a Roland TD 11 kit!!

Comments about Alesis Crimson II 5-Piece Electronic Drum Kit:

Purchased this as a practice kit so my wife could remove the cotton balls from her ears. The sound quality and heavy duty construction helped convince me to try it on some smaller gigs and I was not disappointed in it's performance. Purchased a Simmons 200 drum amp to go with it and it has cut my set up time in half for my smaller gigs, which is good because the pay is usually half on those gigs anyway. I figure it is a small price to pay for both a happy wife and easy load in/out.
