Comments about Alesis Surge Mesh-Head Electronic Drum Set:

I got this set on sale for less then four hundred. It's a lot of set for that kind of money. The all mesh dual zone pads work and feel great. The bass pad being full sized and mesh as well is awesome. The stand itself is robust. It looks great and is very sturdy. The only downside of the set is the module. The sounds aren't as clean and realistic as a Roland or Yamaha. But at the same time you can't get as nice a playing set from them as you can with this Alesis. If you are looking for a good practice set or just starting out. This set is great! If you are looking to for a real true to life Edrum set, you are going to have to spend at least eight hundred and up to get it. If you're price point is under eight hundred then this set should be a top contender.

Comments about Alesis Surge Mesh-Head Electronic Drum Set:

Only have them for 1 week, but so far, so good - I owned a Yamaha set (rubber heads) a few years ago, but I like the Alesis mesh heads better - the module allows you to add a cymbal and 4th tom (a positive, when I compared to a Simmons set, which did not allow this) - 2 mild criticisms - first, 1 of the cymbals does not "choke," as it was advertised - this is not a major issue, though, as I only need 1 cymbal to have the "choke" feature - second, the pedal for the kick pad is a bit flimsy, so you may have to add something better - overall, not a bad, little set for a tight budget.

Comments about Alesis Surge Mesh-Head Electronic Drum Set:

I'm absolute beginner when it comes to drumming, but I have been working as a professional in the industry for over 20 years. The reason why I got this kit is because I wanted to learn and I needed a better way to program drums in my productions. Well... the Surge Mesh Kit does a great job in both. My only gripe is the sound module, the sounds are not really good (although not important to me since I use the kit to trigger software drums), and the user manual really lacks of informations.
