Another source of percussive expression is within your grasp.

ddrum's Deccabon drums are 6" in diameter drum and tuned to represent specific notes in the scale, as each varies in depth. But rather than simply providing the eight notes in a given octave, ddrum has expanded the scale by offering depths from 6" to 24", for more tonal variation and control.

This set includes 22" and 24" black fiberglass Deccabons with a double-braced stand for additional voicings around the kit, tuned melodic passages, or just the right amount of mayhem to make a proper statement.

Classic Octoban Sound

Comments about Ddrum Deccabons, Black 22 in. and 24 in.:

They do have the classic octoban sound, but very poor craftsmanship.

I purchased the 18, 20, 22 & 24 inch deccabons and I was seriously disappointed with the quality. The stand is adequate but the L-rods and tom mounts are cheap. No memory locks on the L-rods so the toms slip and you have to tighten with some major force just to keep them in place. Serious chipping on the bearing edges on all 4 toms. The shells are all scratched and covered in black dust.

I do like the sound and the available sizes, but I will definitely wrap the shells and retro-fit with some quality hardware.
good sound
serious chipping on the bearing edges, missing tension rod washers, no memory locks on L-rods, surface scratched and filthy
Octoban sound for a fraction of the cost

Comments about Ddrum Deccabons, Black 22 in. and 24 in.:

I have all ten of these, from 6 to 24 inches, purchased at different times, and while this review is associated with the 22-24, it is equally applicable to all ten. The drums deliver on their characteristic sound, and it's simple to identify and tune to each drum's inherent pitch. Build quality is average, bearing edges imperfect, rims in varying degrees of true, but all within reason for the price.

Purchase your head of choice at the same time as the drum. The stock heads are unusable; several of mine were broken on arrival, they sound terrible and flake everywhere. I've tried Evans G14s and am now using Remo Controlled Sound. The former were a bit too dark and dead, but provided a more even timbre across all ten drums than the Remos. The Remos have greater attack and projection, but impart a 'rubbery' tone. I suspect clear ambassadors or G1s will suit me well.

The logos, matte finish, and stands of mine all match exactly. I find the stand quality is good, on par with, for example, the totally adequate PDP 800. Like the PDP 800, they will bend slightly with extreme, poorly distributed weight, but the locks and extra cymbal boom mounting hole are convenient. Positioning all ten drums around an already large kit is challenging, but the ball clamps work well and hold without excessive tightening.

A couple of these drums at any size are a worthy accent to a kit, and while all ten is certainly overkill, it does open up interesting melodic potential.
