The MEINL Sonic Energy 9-note octave steel tongue drum is a steel tongue drum built around an octave-based note layout and compact sound control. Tuned to F# minor at 432Hz, it features a central bass note surrounded by eight tongues, each made of paired reeds that sound in two octaves, creating a handpan-like tonal response with clear pitch separation and controlled sustain. The drum includes a rear soundhole that can be closed with a silicone plug to tighten projection, along with three silicone feet to prevent slipping during play. It can be played with hands or with the included two rubber-headed wooden mallets and is designed for lap or tabletop use. Lastly, a zippered carrying bag with handle is included for transport and storage.
