I love the Buffalo Drums! Lightweight, loud, portable. I made a snare drum from the 14" drum and used it for 2 years - replacing the regular snare on my kit entirely. I loved the sound and projection. Then I built an entire kit from the Buffalo Drums! A very unique sound - a drum kit that sounds like hand drums. 2 years of playing the 14" with drum sticks and the head looked brand new - not one mark! Durable! I have all six sizes and love them all. Great for when little kids (even toddlers) come over and want to play drums - I give them Buffalo Drums and they stay away from my 'grown up' sets.

I would really like this drum better if it was constructed from natural materials, but for what it is and the price, it will be valuable to me as an amateur musician in a fun band connected to a fun chorus! When it first arrived, of course, I had to see how loud I could play it. Not sure of the decibel level but my snare drum reverberated from across the room. My neighbors still maintain they have never heard my drums let alone been bothered! Of course there is a 20 foot airspace between the houses!

Comments about Remo Buffalo Drums:
This drum is perfect for a drum to take anywhere, if your a on the go person who hits the pow wow trail, pack this drum along with you, not something to worry about like a handmade drum, and sounds excellent! Very bassy sound when you hit the center. Harmonics jump off the head when you hit outside of the center. This drum is used by me to play "Hand Games" or some call them "Stick or Bone Games". It is a drum that will more than likely replace my current hand made drum. I won't have to worry about it getting damaged or ripped off. The "beater" is very cheesy, but its free, just toss it and use your own. The drum does not lose tone outside or in humid conditions. Oh yeah when doing "stratches" with this drum, its sounds perfect! Excellent round dance song drum too!!!This drum is primarily used for "Handgames" so it fits the bill!
Comments about Remo Buffalo Drums:
This high tech skin conjures up African forests easier than North American prairie. It takes too much musical discipline to maintain an unaccented call long enough for anyone to gather. You just can?t resist throwing away the beater and going at it with both hands! (I hold the 16? frame in my lap with a cotton guitar strap.) Plain looks, just for the beat itself, no extreme highs or lows but a nice variety of tone edge to center. All the fun stuff like popping and rubbing and muting works too, and there?s enough volume control to back up a chant. So don?t worry--they?ll all gather anyway.
Comments about Remo Buffalo Drums:
I had the joy to play this fine drum as part of an instrumental section for my old highschool choir. This first thing I noticed was the quality of the sound. I played the 18" and it had a very satisfying BOOM. The next thing I noticed was the variability of sound one can achieve. Experimenting with this drum will give you hours of fun, time and time again. Whether you need a drum as part of an ensemble, or just want a noise maker for your pleasure, I would highly suggest this drum.

Comments about Remo Buffalo Drums:
The 16" buffalo drum compares favorably in sound and quality to traditional native hoop drums costing $200.00, and it is more durable, less sensitive to temperature and humidity changes and lighter in weight than a traditional drum. It offers a good dynamic range and can get loud if you want it to. The tonal range is more limited than a traditional drum, and it looks a bit to factory made up close, but for under $50.00, who cares. I know someone who has been traveling with one for many years and it is still in good condition.
Comments about Remo Buffalo Drums:
I'm not a musician, but have used a friend's buffalo drums in a casual setting. The drum I purchased was exactly as expected and performed identically to the ones I had used previously. In addition, great service, fast shipping and unbeatable price make Musician's Friend a resource I would highly recommend to anyone looking to purchase online musical supplies.

Comments about Remo Buffalo Drums:
From the very first time I used this drum in one of my ceremonial damces, I fell in love with it. I named it Ayvdaqualosgv, or Thunder, for its commanding, booming sound. I had to build up some arm strength to be able to dance with it but appreciated that this drum was sensitive enough to respond to the slightest strike yet was and is durable enough to stand up to the temperamental Georgia weather. This drum was also incredibly affordable for its size--other similar non-synthetic 22" drums costing four to five times the amount of this one almost had me ready to auction off one of my legs. I will cherish and take care of this drum for a very long time. This has been one of the best purchases I have ever made.
