Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
This is the best crash cymbal I've ever heard or owned. I worked at guitar center and never heard another crash like it.
It has a low base pitch that has a strong attack, you can almost feel it. Instead of sizzling, this cymbal gives off a "pushing feeling". However, it does have good high frequency overtones that allow it to shimmer.
This is the 'cleanest' crash cymbal I've ever heard. No harsh or exotic overtones, no harsh midrange (almost like its scooped), just perfect studio quality crash that has the strongest attack I've ever heard. It takes no effort to get it to cut. Just a light shoulder, and you get a full bodied push. I'd say 'push' in this sense is onomatopoeia. Thats the sound you get when you hit the cymbal. A strong 'P' shaped attack that gradually shifts to a shimmer.
Get this cymbal, you'll never go back.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
I own 2 of these crashes -- a 16" and an 18". The 18" came with a brilliant finish, which imparts a different sonic quality, according to company feedback. At the time I ordered it, the Zildjian Co. was out of the 18" K Crash/Ride that I originally wanted and were 2 months backlogged on making any more...! They suggested I get this 18" brilliant-finish crash instead, which has virtually identical properties...and they were in-stock. What serendipity. A week later, I was the proud owner of the best crash I've ever heard! It's got a nice, big bell that puts out a solid ping, yet billows tastefully when crashed repeatedly. A very musical cymbal, and the brilliant finish looks quite nice. The 16", meanwhile, is also an excellent cymbal with a pleasant pitch. A smaller bell in proportion to its size, but just as good for any style of music.I'll hit my crashes pretty hard, and both of these have held up very well after one year. These may be some of the priciest cymbals on the market, but I have no buyer's regret at all. BTW, these blend very well with Sabian Paragons, which are dark but not quite as smooth.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
Bought one about 4 years ago. I've been playing for 14 years. I've played and purchased every brand of cymbal you can think of. This is honestly the most versatile and beautifully sounding cymbal I've ever used. Worth more than it costs. Finally broke it and almost cried.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
Worth every penny. I own a 16 inch, and paid a little too much for it with trade in at a local music store, but believe me, it is the best. The bell isn't anything special though, but the cymbal is. Works for any style. Also, I like this cymbal more than my 17 inch thin version of it, more volume and a 'fuller' sound.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
Great cymbal. Perfect for everything. Good for rock. Cuts clean. Good Overtone. Complements my 17" custom k dark crash beautifully.

Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
this cymbal sounds better than i expected it to when used on the set I would buy a smaller one next , i have the 18 inch, but i have my heart set on an 18 inch sabian hhx evolution next . i can't see anyone being disappointed with the k .
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
I use this cymbal in our school's Jazz Band, and it is a very nice cymbal. It has a nice clean responce. The only downside is that it is pretty quiet. It's not my favorite cymbal, i personally like the K Dark (not medium thin), but it gets the job done.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
I got the 18" 2 weeks ago; it's nice and dark with what I would call a medium decay. Hit it soft and it has a warm pronounced shimmer that's not washy, hit it hard and it explodes with power. It compliments my 16" & 17" K Custom Hybrids very well. I put a 4.0 on value because of the price, Zildjian's K series are real spendy. I've played Sabians & Paistes all are great cymbals I just prefer the Z's. As for all you guys breaking your expensive cymbals, try a lighter stick you might just increase your speed and improve your technique(just a thought). I switched from 5A's to 7A's about 10 years ago and my playing improved tremendously, I'm still fairly agressive but can't remember the last time I broke a stick, maybe a few years ago. any way Rock on fellas!!
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
I bought the 17" because I needed a darker crash sound, so I went for K's. This isn't dark - no joke, my 17" A Custom crash is warmer/darker than this. This is a great cymbal, I don't know if mine is 'odd' but it is bright and trashy. Good effect cymbal, but not a good primary crash.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
This Cymbal is great for jazz, and is a good all around cymbal, though i wish it would be a little louder. Other that the volume, these cymbals are great, especially if you play lighter stuff like Dashboard or jazz.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
i got the 18 inch in a couple weeks ago. i sounds great when someone else is playing it, but from the drummers throne, not so much. very durable, and cuts through very well. it's super loud. doesn't blend well with my other cymbals either. overall: sounds good, not great, but very durable.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
The Zildjian K Dark Crash (med-thin) has the best sound I have ever heard on a crash cymbal. Great quality. It is all-around great.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
Great sounding cymbal. I bought it used so it already had time to mellow out. It has great responce and it sounds excellent.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
After a little over two years of using the 18 inch medium-thin Dark Crash, I can safely say that it is the ultimate crash cymbal for my needs. It's versatility never ceases to amaze me: It has all the warmth and sensitivity needed for jazz, but it ROARS when you really lay into it in a rock setting. The bell is one of the best I've ever heard (better than some ride cymbals!) and the medium-thin weight makes the cymbal very suitable for light riding. I would recommend this cymbalto any player on any level who wants a very versatile crash and has a little extra cash to spend.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
I bought this 18 inch to accompany my 16 inch A custom. Not such a good team. It's a great cymbal but it's so loud that it takes over the other cymbals. Good overall. Sounds great. Just loud.
Comments about Zildjian K Dark Medium-Thin Crash Cymbal:
I use my 17 inch for concert band, shows, and at the home.. Never a let down.. This is a cymbal that you'll never let alone.
