About Ernie Ball Slinky Strings

Ernie Ball introduced Super Slinky strings in 1962. They were light and flexible, the perfect alternative to the heavy, difficult to play strings available at the time. This is particularly true for students. As a music teacher, Ernie Ball had first-hand experience with students struggling with heavy strings. Over the years, the Slinky line has expanded to include several other gauges, including 0.10, .013. Those sets have names such as Regular, Extra and Beefy. There are also combination sets, like Hybrid and Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom. Each offers a different feel and sound. Combined, Slinky strings are among the most popular in the world.

Ernie Ball Slinky electric guitar strings are made from nickel-plated-steel wire wrapped around tin-plated hex-shaped steel core wire. The plain strings are made of specially tempered tin plated high carbon steel. They offer a very versatile, balanced sound that brings out the natural tone of your guitar. There is a long list of guitarists who use and endorse Ernie Ball strings. It includes Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame inductees Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Aerosmith, Slash, Jeff Beck and Pete Townshend. Musician's Friend is proud to carry the full assortment of Ernie Ball Slinky strings.
