Comments about Cordoba Guilele CE 6-String Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:

This instrument suits my singing range and is high enough to not get in the way. It sounds sort of like a cross between a fretted guitar, mandolin, and uke. This pickup version is nice because you can dial in a richer, extended tone and also play along with a band.

There is very little bass, but that is to be expected. Also you have to find the sweet spots to strum as you can easily distort the soundbox if you strum in the wrong location. At the end of the frets is nice for heavier strumming or close to the bridge for cleaner plucked styles.

Most of the demos I have seen only show someone playing classical styles, but this little guy can Bark as well as Bach.

Comments about Cordoba Guilele CE 6-String Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:

I purchased the Guilele CE after having gotten a Cordoba 15CM concert uke; I was impressed with the 15CM's quality for the price, and wanted something more "guitar-ish" as well. I got used to playing the guilele very quickly, so much so that a normal guitar seems huge now. It's great for sitting on the couch and practicing for hours on end.

Since I haven't gotten completely comfortable with standard ukulele tuning yet (much less the re-entrant string order on concert ukes), I just play the guilele as if it were an E-E tuned guitar and ignore the key difference. With ukulele sheet music I flesh out the chords to 6 strings using guitar fingering, and just play guitar tunes in the wrong key. If I begin playing with others, that will have to change, but for now it works. (BTW, I've found that ukulele song books can have very nice arrangements of popular tunes, and that I've expanded my knowledge of guitar chord fingering options by studying the uke diagrams; the differences can be eye- & ear-opening.)

The build quality is very good, and it's a ball to play. I normally plug into a Yamaha THR5A tabletop acoustic modeling amp but I've also used it with my Yamaha THR10C electric amp to get different tone and effects. Since these are low power amps running at low volume, I don't have a need to play acoustically very often, and like the extra bit of punch + effects from the amps.

Comments about Cordoba Guilele CE 6-String Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:

I play with a band sometimes and a Worship team. I plan to use it just to add some variety. It sounds good plugged or unplugged!! The only problem I can see is that if you have large hands,it will be hard to play.

Comments about Cordoba Guilele CE 6-String Acoustic-Electric Ukulele:

I am a worship leader in two different church services this week and play mostly stringed instruments. I also am part of a music ministry and play quite a bit outside of the church environment. This is a great instrument to add to the mix. It has a tone all its own, can cut through the mix when plugged in and is a lot of fun to play. It is a quality instrument and I am pleased to own it.
