Comments about Gretsch Guitars G9420 Broadkaster Supreme Banjo:

Sounds pretty good...(needed set-up of coarse) has a nice low end and sparkles in high range also. It's not the same as my rk-r 35, but it's a nice difference that I enjoy playing right now. For the price I paid,I'm
pretty happy for a 2nd banjo. unsure about how it will hold up a year from now though... and why is it not available any more?

Needs setup to play a note

About Me Professional Musician

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G9420 Broadkaster Supreme Banjo:

I inserted the bridge and went to tune it up. Problem is that when it is in tune, the strings are flat against the neck. I am assuming that it will need a professional setup to play one note. I don't know if the head needs tightening or if it is defective. I have to decide to either send it back (and there are no more so...) or pay extra to get it setup. That could either fix the issues or determine the issues aren;t fixable. either way, not happy I have to take it in just to find out. I submitted a ticket to MF 3 weeks ago, have yet to hear back.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G9420 Broadkaster Supreme Banjo:

Very pleased with this purchase. I'm a beginner and want to explore both clawhammer and bluegrass styles. This may not be ideal for clawhammer, but was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G9420 Broadkaster Supreme Banjo:

I purchased this banjo because the price (as a "stupid deal") was exceedingly low. I just now compared it with two Gibson Mastertones (one an RB250 from the mid-1980s, one an RB3 from about 1930 with a flat head conversion ring) and, frankly, it sounds better than either of them. The neck shape is a bit clunky, and the sunburst makes me glad that that part of the instrument is less visible when playing it, but in terms of value for sound, it's unbeatable. Oh, one other thing: the tensioning nuts seem to be an odd metric size, and there was no adjusting wrench provided...not a big deal, a socket wrench works just fine.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G9420 Broadkaster Supreme Banjo:

Popped in the bridge about 2 inches from saddle and boom, it sounded great. Intonation easy to adjust. Action is good. Not a banjo player but want to add some plunky goodness to some demos. Sounds perfect and looks great too! Super happy with this purchase.
