Besides the standard Marine Band shape, this holder does a great job on the Hohner Golden Melody.
Those who have trouble loading a harp into the Lee Oscar holder are not doing it properly, for goodness sakes, don't go hacking off chunks of those industrial strength springs. (You might need one some night if you break a spring on your van on your way home from a gig!)
1) Tilt the harp so that the top ridge at the back is under the top bar of the holder.
2) Hold the harp gently at both ends with thumb and forefingers.
3) Push the ends of the follower down with your middle fingers.
4) Snap the harp in place with your thumb and forefingers. It goes in easily.
5) To remove the harp simply reverse the process.
I often change harps every number. No sweat.
I just love this holder because, unlike the others that I have, it holds the harp very well and does not allow it to move...something that drives me stark raving mad. I have enough to think about onstage without having to worry that the harp will not be in the right position when I am ready to blow. Some of the reveiwers have written that the holder is too high and interferes with them singing into the mic. I do not have this problem at all. Maybe just a difference in styles. I highly recomend it.
Worth every penny of the money MF charges for it.

This looked like the answer. It's a well-made harp brace, alright, but the springs are the kiss of death. They're unnecessarily too strong! I had to cut off two revolutions of coil to make this product half-way useable. I'd go for a third turn except I fear it might make it too sloppy. The bottom line is, I can't switch harps quickly as I can with my old Elton brace. Not without almost standing on my head while struggling to insert a harp. I don't believe the Elton is being manufactured anymore. It was a great investment. With the 30 year-old Elton, I just pop the harmonica into my lips, open the clamp with my fingers and drop it in. That's about four seconds. It's puzzling to think that both Steve Earle and Bob Dylan seem to have no problems doing a harp-change with their own Lee Oskar holders. Also, I've noticed that my Elton is the exact perfect height for my playing. The newer Oskar, seems a bit high and needs to be bent and angled a tad to lose the extra height to my lips. In fairness, it's a sturdy harmonica-brace, very well-made and fitted with good wingnuts. Would I buy another one? I don't think so. My brand new one still hangs on the wall after two years; and five minutes'-worth of trying to use it. My Elton, hopefully, has another thirty years left in it. Too bad the springs killed the Lee Oskar unit. They almost had a great product.

Comments about Lee Oskar Harmonica Holder:

I love the Lee Oskar Harmonica Holder, it is great and it doesn't move around when I'm playing guitar. The problem is when I try to put my harmonica in, it does kind of scares me because it looks like the springs of the holder will come right up and hit my fingers, but it hasn't happened yet. It is definitely the best harmonica holder out there.

Comments about Lee Oskar Harmonica Holder:

I have been gigging with this harmonica holder for a year now and it still works great. The springs are tight but you get used to it. My only complaint is that the wing and screw used for tightening on the right side weren't twisting right. They kept getting stuck. So I tried to take it all the way off but it absolutely would not budge. Eventually, I took it to Lowes and got them to cut the screw off and find me similar pieces for only a dollar each. Works great now!

Great holder!

Comments about Lee Oskar Harmonica Holder:

I read the reviews on this holder and I got kind of scared reading all the reviews about how strong the springs are. But I decided to just go ahead and buy it. And I'm glad I did. Yes they are a little on the forceful side, but as I was using it, the springs began to be easier to push down. Not sure if the springs are breaking in or if I'm just getting used to pushing it down. But it is the best holder I have ever used. End of story.

Comments about Lee Oskar Harmonica Holder:

This rack measures 7 inches from wing nut to harp. The equivalent Hohner model measures 5 3/4 inches. At 5' 11", I find the extra length more comfortable. The springs are a bit stiffer but didn't cause me any trouble.

Comments about Lee Oskar Harmonica Holder:

This thing REALLY hold the harp but at the same time, is a bit of a pain to put it in. As you play it, it has a tendency to kind of move around your neck requiring a readjustment. I'm trying to figure out how to keep it in position better.

Upon first inspection, I felt this to be just another inferior piece of equipment. But I soon realized it to be well engineered, doing its job admirably. I've been playing the harmonica for many years and this holder is top notch. There is a learning curve for this product but once youget by that, it's clear sailing.

Don't be fooled guys, this one works with the cheapest, or most expensive harmonicas!! Owning both, I've found that previous speculation that this product may damage cheap plastic harmonicas is simply not true. Buy it, use it , find out for yourself!!

Comments about Lee Oskar Harmonica Holder:

This lightweight harp rack is the best I've owned. For the longest time, I've wanted a neck rack which would fit in my guitar case. This won't, but I bought the Hohner harmonica case which holds twelve harmonicas, and this rack rests nicely atop the harmonicas in the case, so it solves the problem. You must have this. The spring is tighter than the springs on the other harp racks, but that's my only complaint. It does keep the harp in place though.

Comments about Lee Oskar Harmonica Holder:

The Lee Oskar holder definitely does what it was designed to do...it holds your harmonica in a death grip. It is a bit difficult to pull down the bottom lip, but it can be done by holding the harp in your mouth and pulling down both sides equally. Other than the industrial strength springs, I have no complaints.

Nearly impossible to get harmonica in the holder. More likely than not, you will have scratched your harmonica considerably if and when you finally get it in the holder. Any product that requires that much effort should not be on the market.

I've used Lee Oscar for years, bolt threads stripped, tried other bolts & wing nut but would just spin & not tighten so I just bought a new one, I play 15 gigs a month so gets used a lot. Looked at the more expensive new design of Hohner but so heavy and looks like a football helmet mask, sometimes the old simple ways are still best, Lee Oscar works great

YES it's difficult to insert the harp in the beginning until you get the knack of it, but it's intended to be that way. You wouldn't want your harp flopping around in the rack would you?
