If you are use to a Hohner the first thing you will notice about a Seydel is that it is slightly larger/heavier and a little less 'airy' than the Hohners. However, it produces a wonderful mellow sound that makes it a joy to play (especially good in the lower ranges... G Ab A Bb). The holes are a little larger and are spaced slightly further apart which makes it extremely easy to play individual notes (especially if you are tired). It's also a very high quality harp, stainless steel reeds, etc., all models are made by individual craftsmen in Germany. Like most players, I own several different harmonicas from various manufacturers ... but if I had to choose just one ... it would be Seydel.

I've played the harmonica as an amateur for many years, but have never gotten into tweaking, correcting, repairing my harps. I needed a low F harp for a blues solo with my band, and ordered this Seydel. Out of the box, several of the high register draw reeds do not play or barely make a sound. I've bought literally hundreds of Hohner harps, some Lee Oskars, and I've never run into this. Very disappointed in what is a pricey harp for me. I have no interest in taking it apart and trying to make it work, nor should I have to do that.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues SESSION STEEL Harmonica:
This harp has excellent tone. I was tired of the thin tone coming out of my special 20s. They feel heavier so maybe the extra heft gives it some bass. It seems like I can play faster because I don't have to drop my jaw all the way to the ground to get the tone I like. I do not use any effects but I am somehow able to achieve a tone that sounds over-driven with just my vocal mic. Some gigs I use a neck rack and the tone still holds up.

This is my second session steel. Very good volume, nice right out of the box with no work. I am continuing to use these to replace my Hohner Special 20s when they wear out.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues SESSION STEEL Harmonica:
I've played in most all settings and now enjoy creating parts for original compositions with our current group "Dirt Boys". The "Seidel Session Steel" is worth the price. It delivers every time, and I demand a lot from it. Also, I play a prototype computerized harmonica known as X-harp that will soon be available to the public which has given me a whole new platform of expression. With it I can sound like an organ or a pan flute while playing the traditional harmonica form! What joy !!

Comments about SEYDEL Blues SESSION STEEL Harmonica:
As a dedicated Hohner harp player, who got messed up with their poor reed quality even with the Cross Harps, I tried something different: a Seydel Blues Session Steel. It took a while before I was able to get the tone out of it that I wanted. However, finally I managed and I am absolutely satisfied with this MF purchase. Yes, this is endurable music gear and you can blow and draw as you prefer to do. Even hard blow "n draw action is handled by this harp smoothly and no further concerns about having a broken reed in hole No 4 or 5. Great stuff, Seydel ! You truly understand the needs of your customers.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues SESSION STEEL Harmonica:
I defintely like the beard proof design. I also like the color of the comb; it won't get mixed up at jams. but most of all I like the solid sound. I would say it is slightly quieter overall than a marine band, my former favorite. But amplification can take care of that.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues SESSION STEEL Harmonica:
These harps combines the best of Hohner with the smooth surface and edges of Suzuki Bluesmaster. Seydel give a super blues tone and so far no issues with weak welds on the reed plates.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues SESSION STEEL Harmonica:
Like most harp players, I've bought and used all the different brands. I have settled on Seydel Session Steel as my performance harp. They really do last longer, unlike other companies which just claim that but fail to deliver. I had a Session Steel in C, and I literally TRIED to kill it and it still took a very long time. I was shocked how long the reeds lasted, given my relentless bending abuse. A SSS costs more than a Special 20 or Lee Oskar but it's worth it.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues SESSION STEEL Harmonica:
I play in several bands from Country to Rock to Blues....I have one of all of the popular Harp Makers...The Sessions play better out of the box than any ...the Crossover is close but the tone is not as good IMO...I will say that there are many good cheaper harps if you are at a novice level....but at an advance level you will definitely appreciate the ease of playing and the super tone.

Comments about SEYDEL Blues SESSION STEEL Harmonica:
I have used Lee Oskar harps or years. They do not make a low E and I am performing with a singer that likes E. My LO E is too high to sound good to me so I needed a Low E. Tried one that was tinny and squeaky. Tried the my first Seydel and was VERY pleased!
