OVERVIEW

A long scale with deep tones that's easy to play and ready to plug in.

Tuned from B to B, the ABT60 Baritone acoustic-electric is pitched between a dreadnought and acoustic bass to give you deep tones with easy playability. Chord shapes and scales are the same as a standard six string but the voicing is lower. This is one of Alvarez’s best-selling models and within five minutes of owning one you’ll see why. It's a great guitar to play.

Alvarez's Artist Series is now “The Award Winning Artist Series” – winning competitions and receiving rave reviews in the States, Europe and around the world. It’s an elegantly designed line of guitars that stands tall and sounds sweet in the solid top guitar market with hand-selected solid tops and forward-shifted scalloped bracing for an awesome tone and player experience.

Case sold separately.

Comments about Alvarez ABT610E Baritone Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I'd borrowed one of these to record with so when it came up on the Stupid Deal of the Day I was happy to snap one up. At the local Sunday acoustic brunch jam this axe shined. A great sound and sonically in it's own range, not interfering with the other guitars on the room. And it records great too. I couldn't be happier.

Comments about Alvarez ABT610E Baritone Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Overall I consider this a good guitar. I purchased mine from Musician's Friend as SDotD, and for that price I think this is an excellent value.

I inspected the guitar upon arrival and it had no defects. The quality of construction is very good.

The action out of the box is a little high, but that should be expected, and I think it's reasonable to expect to sand the saddle a bit and adjust the truss rod to find a string height that I like.

An Allen wrench is provided to adjust the truss rod.

My only criticism is that the description of the electronics is not accurate, and the electronics in the guitar I got are poor quality. Although the overview in the MF description says it has an LR Baggs StagePro Element, the features section says it has an Alvarez pickup.

The ABT610ESHB does not have LR Baggs electronics. It has a poor quality pickup with two cheap plastic wheel controls mounted in the soundhole. You can see the edge of the control box, which is white plastic, in the sound hole in the stock photo.

The quality of the Alvarex pickup is quite poor. It would have been better if they had simply not included electronics.

I was not able to find a description of the ABT610ESHB at the Alvarez web site, and suspect that this is a special model for the large vendors like MF, Guitar Center, etc.

In spite of the poor pickup and controls, I still think the guitar is a good value. If I need to amplify, I'll install another pickup.

If you want to try out a baritone guitar, I think this is a good one to try, at a reasonable price point.

Comments about Alvarez ABT610E Baritone Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Picture does not do this justice. Nice deep tones. No pick no picking. Reserved or finger picking. The electronics are pretty hot, need to dial back to reduce feedback. Great sound and value.
