A rare chance to own an accurate post-1964 Carter Stanley acoustic reissue with the famous double pickguard. A limited edition!

The Blueridge BR-1060P Carter Stanley Memorial Guitar is based on the instrument as he played it after 1964. By 1964 his trusty 1950s D-28 had seen a lot of action (and abuse!) as his standard stage instrument. His famous thumb-and-finger picking style had worn down the finish and wood on both sides of the upper body bout around the soundhole, so he had a custom pickguard installed that covered the damage and protected his guitar from more harm. The Blueridge BR-1060P also has the hexagonal abalone fretboard inlays and two mother-of-pearl dots on the bridge Carter added prior to 1964. Additional Carter touches include the famous White Dove headstock inlay design crafted of fine abalone and pearl which is joined on this memorial-edition guitar with his signature inlaid in gold wire. Each guitar in this limited-edition run of instruments is individually signed and numbered.

Like the best instruments, Blueridge guitars aren't overbuilt; they're crafted to be light and resonant. Meticulous attention to detail and quality craftsmanship is evident in the traditional, forward-position, hand-carved parabolic X-bracing which allows the solid Spruce top to ring loud and true. The slim mahogany neck joins the body with a traditional dovetail neck joint and has an adjustable truss rod.

Custom shop perfection for chump change

Aesthetics: Beautiful woods, inlay, and marquetry. book-matched woods on front & back. Carter Stanley's signature pickguard is a little garish.Playability: Nails the tone of a Martin D-28. The neck is thin, so playing the BR-1060P feels more like an electric. Great finger-picker's guitar, but strums equally well.Quality: Construction is completely clean. No glue visible on bracings. Poly finish is a little cheap-looking, but is expertly applied. Inlay is actually razor-thin M-O-P and Abalone incorporated into the finish layers. Might be true inlay on the fretboard - hard to tell.Note: Each guitar is signed by Carter's daughter.
