A Breedlove Pursuit Concerto acoustic-electric with red cedar top and mahogany back and sides.
The Breedlove Pursuit Concerto CE Red Cedar–Mahogany is Breedlove’s large body acoustic-electric guitar with a warm and rich sound that emanates from the solid red cedar top and mahogany back and sides. Engineered for a versatile play style conducive to strumming and fingerstyle, it’s the perfect professional grade instrument for players looking for an all-in-one guitar that can stand out and carry the rhythm, or be soft, sweet and nuanced when played fingerstyle. Featuring the reliable and great-sounding L.R. Baggs EAS electronic system, it can also be plugged in for amplification. Players sound better, play better and play more on a Breedlove Pursuit Series acoustic-electric guitar.
The Breedlove Pursuit Concerto Cutaway CE acoustic-electric guitar features a solid top, which is the defining element of its sound. Through its vibration, the solid top drives the key aspects of the guitar's volume, tone, sustain and projection. The solid wood top translates the vibrations with more immediacy and purity of tone, and reacts more directly with the intent of a player. If you are at an intermediate level or above, you will appreciate the instantly recognizable benefits of this solid wood top.
Solid Tonewood Top
The Concert, Breedlove’s most popular body shape—designed 30 years ago and still going strong—is favored by discerning players for its versatile, balanced, articulate sound and easy playing ergonomic comfort. This flagship platform performs equally well strummed or fingerpicked, and is perfectly poised for accompanying the human voice.
Concert Body Shape
Softer than spruce, with a warmer cast to its look and its tone, Western red cedar has less headroom for a heavy attack, but comes alive—with sweet harmonics and a wide tonal palette—for a lighter touch. Related to mahogany, it shares a focused sound, much loved by fingerstylists.
Red Cedar Top
Long treasured by cabinetmakers and shipwrights for its simple, straight-grained beauty, strength and workability, mahogany—used in tops, backs, sides and necks—is also one of the true classic tonewoods. Famous for its clear, strong fundamental; even string-to-string balance; and warm midrange emphasis, the mahogany back and sides of the Breedlove Pursuit Concerto Cutaway CE pairs well with the spruce top. The sound produced by this combination has defined much of American roots music.
Mahogany Back & Sides
Breedlove’s pinless Delta bridge is a distinctive element, with a sleek, modern contour that adds an extra bit of unexpected beauty to every instrument. But it also adds welcome functionality while anchoring great sound. Beginners love the fact that string changes are much easier without having to wrestle a traditional pin bridge, and professional players love it for the same reason. You'll no longer have to search for lost pins during a fast backstage string swap. And its low profile makes for perfect right hand damping.
Breedlove Pinless Delta Bridge
Breedlove guitar necks feature a slimmer neck profile, which enables comfortable play, even with smaller hands. Unlike traditional dovetail neck joints that require major surgery for a neck re-set, it is easy to adjust the play action and neck angle with the Breedlove bolt-on neck and single-action truss rod. The hand-rubbed, semi-gloss Breedlove neck finish contributes to ideal playability. The finish process alone takes three days, including precise finish coat applications, fine sanding, and hand buffing and rubbing.
The Breedlove Neck
With the Pursuit Series, Breedlove wanted to offer players as many options as possible, all in affordable reach, with great-sounding solid wood tops, LR Baggs EAS electronics and limited lifetime warranties. Pinless bridges and durable, beautiful finishes make each easy to maintain; comfortable body shapes and slim, fast necks make each easy to play. Is this your first Pursuit? Try one, not just in a Concerto, Concert, Concertina or Companion six-string, but also in nylon and 12-string models and acoustic basses.
