One P-90 and a stripped-down Coronet signal path.
One pickup, two controls and a symmetrical double-cut body were enough to give the Coronet its own place in Epiphone history. First introduced in 1958, the Epiphone Coronet electric guitar returns to that stripped-down formula with a gloss mahogany body, glued-in Medium C mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge-position P-90 PRO Dogear pickup. A Lightning Bar compensated wraparound bridge keeps the hardware equally direct, while the reduced-size Kalamazoo headstock, Bikini badge, ivory-button tuners and white butterfly pickguard reconnect the current model with early Coronet details. Offered in Cherry and Ebony, the Coronet keeps the focus on a simple signal path and one of Epiphone’s original solidbody silhouettes.
Symmetrical Mahogany Body Reconnects With the 1958 Coronet
The Coronet’s gloss mahogany body returns to the symmetrical double-cut shape associated with the earliest versions of the model. The uncluttered layout leaves the body shape, single pickup and butterfly pickguard to define the presentation. As one of Epiphone’s earliest original solidbody designs, the Coronet remains recognizable precisely because there is so little between its basic double-cut outline and the player.
Single P-90 PRO Dogear Keeps the Circuit Direct
A single Epiphone P-90 PRO Dogear pickup sits in the bridge position and keeps the Coronet’s electronics intentionally simple. One volume control sets overall output and one tone control shapes the high-frequency response, with no pickup selector or second pickup adding extra decisions to the signal path. That stripped-down arrangement puts the attack and character of the bridge-position P-90 at the center of the guitar, matching the direct approach that has defined the Coronet since its earliest versions.
Medium C Set Neck Uses Familiar Epiphone Proportions
The glued-in mahogany neck uses a Medium C profile and 24.72" scale for a substantial but familiar Epiphone feel. A rosewood fingerboard carries 22 medium-jumbo frets, dot inlays and a 12.01" radius, while the 1.69" Graph Tech NuBone nut establishes the string spacing at the headstock. Together, the set-neck construction and straightforward fingerboard specifications give the Coronet a traditional playing platform around its minimal electronics and hardware.
Lightning Bar Hardware Keeps the Setup Straightforward
The Lightning Bar compensated wraparound bridge combines the string anchor and bridge into one compact unit, keeping the body end as simple as the single-pickup circuit. At the opposite end, three-on-a-plate tuning machines use ivory buttons and press-in bushings beneath a reduced-size Kalamazoo headstock with Epiphone’s Bikini badge. A white butterfly pickguard with foil E logo, black Top Hat knobs and nickel hardware complete the early-inspired appointments without crowding the Coronet’s stripped-down layout.
Original Epiphone Simplicity With a Distinct P-90 Voice
The Coronet remains a different proposition from more elaborate solidbody designs: one P-90, two controls, a wraparound bridge and a symmetrical mahogany double cut that traces directly to Epiphone’s late-1950s originals. The Medium C set neck and rosewood fingerboard keep the playing platform familiar, while the compact Kalamazoo headstock and butterfly pickguard reinforce the model’s early identity. For players who want a direct signal path and an Epiphone shape with history of its own, the Epiphone Coronet keeps the formula focused from pick attack to amplifier.
