I've had this guitar for almost a year now and I love it! There's a couple of minor things on the guitar (paint dripped on the fretboard in some places and a few other problems) but other than the few minor cosmetic problems it is awesome. When I say cosmetic problems I am defiantly not saying this guitar is ugly, far from it! The sound also works very well with my music and I can't really complain, the rhythm sounds muddy to me but I generally leave it on treble or in between and it sounds awesome especially with distortion! This is definitely my favorite guitar and I haven't played another yet that beats or even matches it!

I can't believe Epiphone was serious when they made these guitars. Although it is a beautiful guitar, and the pickups are hot, the balance is unacceptable. I bought this guitar a couple of months ago to back up my Gibson Les Paul Custom, but the neck is so heavy relative to the rest of the guitar, that I have to concentrate on stage to hold the neck up, which takes away from being able to play well. If you play sitting down with the guitar on your lap, you'll be happy with this one, but if you play standing up, forget it.

Fret Buzz

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

I wanted so badly to like this guitar that I spent three days making every possible adjustment to get rid of the fret buzz. All my efforts unfortunately failed and I sent it back with a heavy heart.Plugged in the EMGs sounded great, and the controls for volume and tone were excellent...with enough volume you could even forget about the fret buzz.My Alvarez electric that I bought for $50 off a buddy of mine has about as low an action as you can ask for and not the fraction of fret buzz this thing had. Truly a shame.

Better then I thought it was!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

I bought this for the pick-ups and I'm not really into the whole gibson style thing. I'm more of an Ibanez type guy. I own a Ibanez rg with a new sustainer system but with weak pickups it plays great and everything but with this guitar it took things a whole other level. The clean sound the emg's put out put my ibanez to shame as far as tone. When I played comfortably numb I sounded just like David Gilmour when I played Bodom beach terror it was just as clean. It was amazing. But I still missed my sustainer and whammy bar. Otherwise this was a great chose.

Alpine White and EMGs!

By Anonymous

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

I bought this online after playing some G-400s at the store. This is the perfect metal sound I like with the EMGs. Good weight w/fast neck. Had EMGs before and they are awesome. Nice crunch with the PM and easy NH. Sustains forever, not muddy. It even has a small latch for the battery for easy access. I'm upgrading to the Gibson TP-6 tailpiece for fine tuning. The alpine white is definitely different and well worth it. This will be a favorite for long time. No problems.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

Well I own a couple guitars some better than others, I own a 1989 westone corsair, but this thing is a BEAST! Its easaly one of the highest output guitars I have with the active emg pickups, the only downside to this guitar is that it takes a little bit of adjusting to make the action playable a couple turns of the truss rod and lowering the bridge did the trick with very minor fret buzz! Overall this guitar kicks butt for the price but the finish really stands out! its like heaven with HORNS!

Beautiful, rockin' guitar...

By Anonymous

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

My friend sent me a link to this guitar, because I had just installed new EMGs in my old Epiphone G310, and I knew I had to have it. This by far beats any guitar I've played, better than most Gibson named. It's a beautiful Alpine White which is a color I've loved for a long time...the fretboard is smooth, action is perfect, the Grover tuners are tight, and the pickups howl. A couple things were a little sub-par: one of the tuneomatic bridge posts was threaded wrong and I had to replace that (actually, I went with replacing the whole thing with a "roller" saddle bridge which is awesome), and the pots for the volume and tone get scratchy very easy and the p-ups still make noise even when at zero (a pretty simple switchout if you're good with soldering). Other than that, this was a great impulse buy.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

I've had this guitar for 4 months now and I like it better and better every time I play it. Overall this guitar is pretty light weight compared to others, like Strat?s. However, the neck is a little heavier than the body so you can't let go of the neck or the neck will drop as others have complained about. It's not a problem for me; I just make sure I don't let it fall into something. I'm always careful with my instruments anyway. This guitar not only looks great but the sound from the EMG's is just too good to explain. To me this far outweighs the neck being heavier than the body. No pun intended. The sustain you get from these pick ups without any pedals is just way too cool. When you use your pedals with it hang on tight because you're going for a ride.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

this guitar is a complete steal at that price. it plays better than gibsons that cost twice the price! The pickups have to be the very best feature of this guitar, the 81 has all the output anyone should ever need. and the substain of 85 could ring for a whole minute with the amount of gain(no joke!) it plays as well as any other guitar i have owned or played and my sgs volume and tone pots didn't get scratchy.Definately a great guitar for the price

KICK A$$ GUITAR!!!

By DirtyMuthaPicka

from York, PA

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

I have been playing guitar for a little over three years now, and I have been using an epiphone les paul custom as my main guitar for the better part of that time. So already knowing that epiphone's quality and craftsmanship is beyond superb made this guitar much easier to buy, without even playing it. Now, my les paul is an incredible guitar, but after a few hours of playing, it can become a little heavy on the shoulder, so with this SG I was looking for something a bit lighter, but that could still kick out some punishing tone. The EMG's are the almost perfect pickups, both thick and creamy, yet precise in every note that is played. The neck pickup is incredibly hot! Right out of the box, the neck of this guitar felt like home, (although it is considerably wider than the baseball bat-like neck of my les paul), and it was extremely easy to move around on, even in the higher register the strings were still easy to bend and manipulate. (What little bending one can do with the shitty, stiff ass Gibson factory strings that come on the guitar.)Overall, this guitar cannot be beat for its class and sick tone. That said, some minor flaws with the guitar included bubbling in the paint job at various points on the neck and body, also the volume and tone knobs were put on crooked , (pushed down harder on one side than the other) for all of the knobs except one. The only other problem is the battery compartment for the 9V battery that powers the pickups is shitkickingly difficult to get into and replacing the battery is a nightmare.Aside from those flaws though, this guitar is truly kick ass! Surly destined to become a collector's item as epiphone will shortly be discontinuing this model, probably too much of a threat to be kept on the market.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

I just got this axe last week and I love it, its comfortable, relatively light unlike my les paul, ans the emg's are sick. They growl and shred with some rectified high gain, awesome metal tones I never could get before. I think the high output makes it very sensitive to variations in picking and palm muting, and it has a clean sound all its own. Its pretty well built, though I do think the epiphone "custom shop" logo on the headstock is kinda silly. Gotta love epiphone.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

i have had this guitar for about a month nowit is super nice and sounds awesome. the emg 81 85 sound great. and this is just a great looking guitar. the only bad thing is the neck/head is heavier then the body, so the neck falls if you let it go. but seeing as you never really let the neck go when your playing, it does not really matter. unless your chug chugin in sick breakdowns haha

Great Epiphone SG

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

I picked this up and This was my first experience with active pickups, and to tell you the truth, I don't see a lot of difference between them and passive ones so that wouldn't be a big draw for me in the future. However, the neck is beautiful, the fit and finish are great, the Grover tuners are sweet, and it stays in tune nicely. I did chip the finish about 20 minutes out of the box by banging it into my Les Paul. The LP didn't suffer at all, but the Epiphone got a chip right on the edge. I guess I just hit it just on the right spot which was a bummer. It is defintely neck heavy as others have noted, but it's really light overall which is good if you're going to be playing it a while. The neck pickup is especially hot which you can screw in further if you want to, but the bridge pickup all the way out isn't at loud as the bridge one. Therefore, I usually use this for a rhythm-only set. If I'm doing any licks or fills, I prefer my other axes. This is an excellent guitar, but I still reach for my Gibson LP first.

I got this guitar form a music store about a year ago and I love it. It plays great and the light weight is so nice for playing on stage if you are looking for a guitar that plays like a gibson but has a much lower price this is the guitar for you.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

Fist off I am a beginner guitarist only playing for just over a year. This guitar was my first electric and let me say- WOW! This guitar is amazing no fret buzzing, no tuner problems: its Excellent. The Pickups are have great output and the same kind as used by the pros. The only problem with this guitar is its like other SG's; its top heavy but it doesn't effect your playing at all. Buy this guitar if you want a qualtiy guitar that is just like a real SG but much cheaper---This an amzing SG guiatr!!! Buy NOW!

Great guitar, sounds very very good. One or two of the volume/tone pots have a bit of sracthy regions, not a big deal at all. The Epiphone limited edition SG is a great buy. Great for rythym or lead. Sounds superb through my Laney 100w all tube head and Marshall cab. Alpine white!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

This guitar is amazing for the price. The EMG pickups are what really stand out. I use it mostly for rhythm, but it does great for leads, as well. In the rhythm position, with distortion, it's very crunchy, without being muddy. In the treble position, with distortion, the guitar really screams. Clean, the guitar doesn't sound as good as a Les Paul, but it has a good tone to it. The overall look of the guitar is great as well. The alpine white, with the black pickups and pickguard really stand out. And the neck is a piece of art. I have noticed that the balance of the guitar is a bit....odd. The neck WILL drop if you let go of it. But this wasn't a big deal for me, as I quickly got used to it. Overall, this guitar is a great deal. You won't be disappointed.

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

I bought this axe about a month ago. I have an Epi LP Classic with a Duncan Hot Rodded Set in it and liked the way it played so I thought I buy another Epi (for metal). I always liked white SGs because everyone usually has a red/black one. The black pickguard stands out. The quality is pretty good. Great tuners, Plays great (a little adjustment), and the is sound awsome. Just remember to unplug your axe after use so the battery will last. These pickups usually have a life span of 3000 hours on a battery so don't worry about it dieing fast. My bottom line is that a great sounding playable guitar is just that no matter what is on the headstock. So far I have been impressed with Epiphone the last couple of years. Great bang for your buck!!!!!

Comments about Epiphone Limited Edition G-400 Electric Guitar with EMG Pickups:

I bought this guitar not too long ago and I was in awe after i opened the box! The Emg 81's & 85's really roar! They have the best distorted I have ever heard, from screaming solos to heavy rythem!! The clean sound is not bad also, I thought it would'nt sound that good but it is very clear and sounds great with some chorus. I mainly play hardcore punk rock, so this guitar was perfect for me. I also play some metal and let me tell you this is as heavy as it gets!! The all white is also very nice and looks awesome with the black pick guard. It is a bit top heavy like most SG's but it is not even a problem when playing. When I play live i move around alot and it is perfectly light and easy to move with! BEST GUITAR EVER!!BUY THIS AXE!!
