Dual P-90 response in Epiphone’s original double-cut form.
The Wilshire entered Epiphone’s solidbody lineup in 1959 as a straight-ahead double-cut guitar, and its appeal has always come from keeping the formula direct. This Epiphone Wilshire electric guitar returns to the rounded-edge symmetrical body of the earliest models with two-piece mahogany construction, a glued-in Medium C mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. Dual P-90 PRO Soapbars run through dedicated volume and tone controls with a three-way selector, while a LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar keep the hardware straightforward. Offered in Cherry and Ebony with a premium gig bag, the Wilshire P-90 combines early Epiphone proportions with the clear, gritty P-90 response that defines the model.
Rounded Mahogany Double Cut Returns to Wilshire Origins
The Wilshire’s two-piece solid mahogany body uses the rounded-edge, symmetrical double-cut construction associated with the earliest versions of the model. Epiphone describes the mahogany foundation as warm and resonant with a strong midrange presence, giving the simple body shape enough weight for rock-oriented rhythm work without changing its direct visual character.
Dual P-90 PRO Soapbars Deliver the Wilshire’s Edge
Two Epiphone P-90 PRO Soapbar pickups give the Wilshire its defining electronics package, covering clear, articulate cleans through the gritty edge and throaty overdrive Epiphone associates with the P-90 format. Each pickup has its own volume and tone control using CTS potentiometers, allowing the neck and bridge voices to be shaped independently before the three-way selector chooses the active combination. That layout gives players broad control without moving away from the straightforward dual-P-90 formula at the heart of the model.
Medium C Set Neck Gives the Wilshire a Fuller Feel
The glued-in mahogany neck uses a Medium C profile that Epiphone describes as comfortably full without becoming overly bulky. A 24.75" scale and 12" rosewood fingerboard keep the proportions familiar, while 22 medium-jumbo frets and acrylic dot inlays provide a clean, traditional playing surface. A Graph Tech nut completes the neck specification at the reduced-size Kalamazoo-style headstock, giving the Wilshire a substantial set-neck feel around its compact double-cut body.
LockTone Hardware and Early Epiphone Details Finish the Setup
A LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge provides separate action and intonation adjustment before the strings anchor into a LockTone Stop Bar tailpiece. Epiphone Deluxe tuners with ivory buttons sit beneath the vintage-style Bikini badge, while a black butterfly pickguard with foil Epiphone E logo reinforces the early-model visual language. Nickel hardware, black Top Hat knobs with silver inserts and the included premium gig bag complete a practical setup around the Wilshire’s simple body and dual-P-90 electronics.
A Straight-Ahead Epiphone Double Cut for P-90 Players
The Wilshire P-90 stays close to the elements that made the model distinctive from the start: a rounded symmetrical mahogany body, fuller Medium C set neck and a pair of P-90s with independent controls. The LockTone bridge and Stop Bar keep the hardware conventional and adjustable, while the rosewood fingerboard and included premium gig bag round out the current package. For players who want an original Epiphone double cut centered on responsive P-90 tone and straightforward control, the Epiphone Wilshire P-90 keeps that formula intact.
