I like the way these guitars feel and look. This purchase would fit a wide profile of players, beginners to intermediate . The one I tried was a very solid build, with no issues from fit to finish.
Some expected attention to minor issues like minimal fret tang end roughness, and a stubborn 4th fret that needed some elbow grease, and the guitar would work very well I am sure.
I have recently have come to learn that our friends to the south produce some of the best finished guitars in the world. However ,......
They do not sound like an American Strat.
They are much thinner, with less fidelity and tonal range than the American counterpart. They seem to my ears to be somewhat harder to overdrive and still maintain a decent growl and sustain.
The hardware is stable but could certainly be improved . The tuning machines are of "outsourced" quality.
They were purchased by Fender from whoever in the world was making them the cheapest on that day.
Same with the pot's, selector switch, bridge saddles, etc.
Just how hard would it be for Fender to ship American Pick-up's and parts to Mexico for assembly ?
Must be more cost effective to outsource electronics and parts than use the originals that made the name Fender world famous . In other words they want you to believe that the price of the copper wire, magnets, bobbins, tapes and varnishes, lead wires, plastic pick up covers, are just so much more expensive that the only way they can make money is to build a guitar under their name and use any ones parts.
By the time I performed the required upgrade, I would be at the American made price point.
That being said, I can see myself using one as a jamming knock around guitar where it is ok to catch a scratch or two.
Young players, worship players, casuals players and jammers will no doubt find this guitar more than adequate
Serious minded players looking for Fender tone should only look at the American model.
What I consider to be a much better choice for the more choosier.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Deluxe Ash Telecaster Maple Fingerboard:

This is one great looking guitar and a real joy to play. You get that great Telly sound and the maple fret board is a smoothie to play with the medium jumbos. This thing was perfect out of the box and just needed tuning, that's it! It sounds fantastic played through my Fender Princeton Reverb re-issue. Don't let MIM fool you. This is one quality guitar and just as good as my American Tellies. Good output from these pick-ups. Order yours today, you'll be glad you did!

Comments about Fender Special Edition Deluxe Ash Telecaster Maple Fingerboard:

Overall this is a great guitar. The finish is beautiful and you can't tell that its any different in that department compared with an American made model. The one area that can use some TLC is the fret finishing, it can be a little rough in places and needs some file work done. My set up was high and I needed to bring the action down a little. The pickups are actually good, but in this guitar I went with some Fralin's because they are just a little warmer sounding. Anyway I do recommend this guitar as a great value, but be prepared for just a little set up work upon arrival.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Deluxe Ash Telecaster Maple Fingerboard:

I purchased this guitar about a month and a half ago. I have to say this is a KILLER guitar. I played many tele's and mainly did not like them. There was a blemished model that I got a nice deal on and took the chance. It arrived and immediately right out of the box the finish was fantastic. Neck is nice and fast. If a 9.5" radius is your thing then great. I usually like more of a 10-12" but this guitar feels good reguardless of my previous preference.

The hardware was pretty high quality as well besides two things, the saddles (which recently swapped for compensated ones) and the tuners. The tuners are the next things on my upgrade list as they really aren't the best for the higher strings even after a proper setup.

The pickups are okay. The neck is sweet and the bridge sounds as it should. The middle position has all the spanky, funkiness you could ask for but overall they lack dynamic range. By that I mean They are very basic and thin sounding when put up to say a lollar or seymour duncan.

Overall I'd buy it again and am happy to own this guitar. It sounds good with a little dialing in. Play's fantastic, and feels solid at the helm. Quality build from Fender.

This guitar is a gig ready and perfect recording quality instrument.
I would compare it to any of my high end collectibles, and actually prefer it to some because of the reversed controls.
it has a beautiful appearance, and performance is comparable to custom shop models.
