Warm, Alnico V single-coil pickups, refined by G&L's VP of engineering, Paul Gagon, to capture the best of vintage tones, speak with an expressive voice, and the gorgeous limited-availability Irish Ale finish makes this an instrument that will always stand out as a special breed, indeed.

I picked this up for just over 300 USD. For that price, this is a very solid value in my opinion. The truss rod had to be backed off fairly substantially and in general, the guitar needed to be setup, but now it sounds and play exceptionally. The finish is a beautiful color over the odd (for a guitar) nyatoh wood body. Some interesting figuring on mine, but I have grown to really enjoy and cherish this guitar. My guitar was missing the set screw to keep the tremolo arm in place.

This is not my first G&L tribute legacy and as always, buying it is hit-or-miss.

If you get a good one, you will love it - sound quality, look and feel are great. However you may get a defective one, and what kind of defect it will be is unpredictable, of course.

With this particular guitar, everything looked great - no blemishes in the appearance, no problems with electronics - until I tried to set up the action. I immediately noticed that the neck had negative relief (of course, causing buzz on all strings). Truss rod that was supposed to allow me to adjust the neck, simply did not work - it had no effect on the neck curvature.
So, I had to send this guitar back.

Comments about G&L Tribute Legacy Electric Guitar:

When I first saw this guitar I just had to have one! Not only for playing (it plays awesome BTW), but also for the look and name of the guitar itself which inspired me to purchase an extra guitar and adapt for use as coffee table(s) in my man cave! I built horizontal guitar stands that enables me to lay the guitar down flat for use as a coffee table and for drinking Irish Ale too! you can even leave the guitar plugged in while you slide your pint glass along the fret board making some really cool slide sounds while getting bluesy woozy!!!

Comments about G&L Tribute Legacy Electric Guitar:

Good feeling neck. There was a little buzz at the bridge but after I oiled the whole guitar, including the trem & springs, the buzz went away. A solid guitar at a great price. Love the Irish Ale finish...

Comments about G&L Tribute Legacy Electric Guitar:

Have purchased 2 G&L guitars recently this Tribute legacy & a Bluesboy ASAT Classic. Both had fret buzz !st and 3rd frets. Had to have both Re setup. Both are fine for now. Still worth the money as I bought both Guitars as a stupid deal.

Comments about G&L Tribute Legacy Electric Guitar:

Leo knew what he was doing! I was going to build my own strat, mainly because I hate the tremolos that come with lesser models, don't want weak pickups, and have a preference for 9.5 radius rosewood neck with 1 5/8 inch nut. Well, I was ready to spend twice as much as the Legacy to get exactly what I wanted. Then, I see this in as the Stupid Deal so it was a no-brainer. I could not be more happy. The tone from the pickups on this axe is pure strat with some added dimensions. The electronics with the tone control is awesome and no need for a treble bleed. The tremolo is really easy to use and does not throw things out of tune. I absolutely love the color, too. Yet, I am going to change the nut to unbleached bone and the tuners to locking cuz I am partial to both-unnecessary but purely a preference. I am also going to take very fine grade wet sandpaper to the neck just to make it feel even better than it already does. Even at regular price, the Fender Mex can't touch this. At the stupid price, it is a steal!!!

Comments about G&L Tribute Legacy Electric Guitar:

I known about the G & L brand for years and I always wanted the guitar. I bought the G & L bass in 1980 when I was in high school, instead of a high school ring. The bass I purchased looked just like this guitar. I have a Fender strat but it's starting to have cracks in the finish near the bridge and I'm not even a tremolo player. The finish on the G & L is better !

Comments about G&L Tribute Legacy Electric Guitar:

This is a fun guitar, has an excellent tone in all of the configurations. The one thing that is not there and is a little confusing from the description at the G&L site is that this model does not contain the push/pull pot to give it 7-way switch ability, but that's not a big deal. The action was good out of the box, but did require a bit of a neck adjustment, especially when I moved it to lighter strings (it comes with 10s, I use 9s). The tuners are somewhat marginal, but didn't care, as I wanted locking tuners anyway and the new Hipshots dropped right in and work great. Overall, a fantastic experience and motivating me to play more often. The fact that the Irish Ale is just gorgeous doesn't hurt either!

I was a little wary of the body wood,(NYATO) and fret board (Brazilian Cherry) but upon receipt was pleasantly surprised of the beauty and nice tone, comparing it to my S-500 deluxe and Comanche I am really pleased with the craftsmanship ,quality and playability .I think it`s a fantastic bargain of a guitar.*****Thanks.
