Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6136TFM-DCHY Limited Edition Falcon with Bigsby and Gold Hardware Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This guitar is incredible. Came out of the box perfectly setup with zero fit and finish issues. Not going to reiterate the other two reviews above, but the historic build with modern upgrades where it matters makes a huge difference, especially the string-through Bigsby. These limited edition models are perfect in that way as they seem to be the only versions that combine the historic and modern in that way. The TV Jones pickups are as advertised. Probably the best filtertron remake available. The flame in the see through finish is perfect. The gold, which seems to jump out on other Falcons is much more subtle on this color and build. I like the gold, but I like that it is not so over the top flashy as that isn't my style. Can't say enough good things about this guitar. It is my new number one and completed my stable of guitars (for now at least...GAS is a tough disease).

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6136TFM-DCHY Limited Edition Falcon with Bigsby and Gold Hardware Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Pictures don't begin to show how beautiful this guitar is! The flame maple, transparent red, and gold hardware with gold sparkle binding is just stunning, and the build quality is impeccable. It is equipped with a string through Bigsby (that makes string changes much easier than on my 6119-HT), TV Jones Classic pups & Grover Imperial tuners. So far I've played this through a Vox AC15-TBX with a Timmy OD/boost pedal, and a Fender Prosonic with an Empress tape delay. By fiddling with the switches and knobs, I'm able to nail a great rockabilly sound as well as some great blues and classic rock tones as well - very versatile guitar.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G6136TFM-DCHY Limited Edition Falcon with Bigsby and Gold Hardware Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

As far as I can tell, this limited edition (2016) "Red Falcon" combines all the good features of the 2016-2017 series of G6136T-59 Vintage Select White Falcon (mud switch, TV Jones pickups, Gretsch-style strap locks, etc.) with some of the good features of the 2017 series of G6136T Players Edition, such as the (string-through) Bigsby B6GP. Not only that, it is much prettier than the "fake aged" cream-colored Vintage Select, or the actually white Players Edition. With the Red Falcon, they took the time and effort to select the woods to look good because of the transparent finish, whereas with the "white" ones they may be able to use less pretty wood, since it is painted over. Yet, the Vintage Select is more expensive, so this is actually a great deal as well. While the Players Edition really is white (i.e., the way they are "supposed to be", if you are a stickler for that), if you want the 59-style mud switch (which actually does something useful on these newer models) then you are stuck with either the cream Vintage Select, or this Red Falcon.

The sound of this guitar is fantastic. Listen to the video with some good headphones, and while that is pretty close to what it sounds like, it is even better in real life. I play it through a Fender Mustang III v2 in our band, and through a Fender Floor straight into a mixer and KRK studio monitors at home, although the Fender Floor sounds even better when connected straight to an EV ZLX 12P. I tend to use clean tones, which is what hollow-bodies are best at. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing you what it sounds like with distortion, but to me that just makes these Gretsches sound like any other distorted guitar (but I am probably wrong on that).

Before buying I also tried a G5420T Electromatic, but there is no comparison, in my opinion. Perhaps you can fiddle with amp and EQ to make the G5420T sound approximately like a 6136, but the 6136 also feels much better while playing.

It comes with a very nice case.
