Comments about X-175B Manhattan Hollowbody Archtop Electric Guitar with Guild Vibrato Tailpiece:

I play acoustic sessions with a friend in my basement. Was looking for some new instruments to mix things up (I also bought the Guild F-2512E 12-string which is phenomenal for the price). The vintage look of this guitar caught my eye. I played others (Gretsch G5420T, Godin Kingpin). They were good, but I preferred the rich tones that I heard from this Guild in the online videos. The guitar is even more impressive in real life. The finish is gloss (some pictures look matte). It's gorgeous. And tone, tone, tone. I've mostly played this through my iRig with virtual amps and headphones to jam along to songs. My friend lent me his Gibson ES335, and this Guild sounds better. Super versatile from classic jazz to rock distortion with that bit of vintage twang. The P90 pickups do hum when you add distortion, but this is the tradeoff for better tone. I was concerned about the floating bridge and vibrato tailpiece knocking it out of tune, but it stays in tune great. I was also concerned that the U-shape neck and 9.5" fretboard radius would be too different from my Martin D-16RGT. But I easily go back and forth between the two guitars. There isn't much unamplified acoustic value to this guitar, but that's true with every archtop I played. Really nice hard case too.
